Could you all please keep it down in here today?  I lost yet another battle against red wine last night.  I knew opening that 4th bottle was a bad idea.  Ouch.

i do buy "better" wines, but i'm not much of a snob on taste so i'll drink most wines.  i think it's the red versus white.  i much prefer red, but it always gives me a hangover.  whites, however, don't hurt as much.

I don't think it is just price that affects the strength of the hangover.  I have had a bad morning after nice wines too.  It is just that cheap wine always gives me a hangover.  We need to have a point scale like the Wine Enthusiast points ranking but for hangover intensity.  "Intense throbbing with a light finish of fuzzy-headedness. Lasts until midday.  91 points"

First - no more shouty capitals please!

Second - I don't think the price of the wines had anything to do with it, I'm pretty sure it was the copious amounts that did me in

Third - red wine = hurty whereas white does not.

I've got it: Drunk proof caps. Not that a foil cutter and corkscrew are easy to operate; they're not. But if they could put some kind of drunk proof top on there (likie the ratchet lids on prescriptions), maybe, just maybe we'd be too drunk to operate that 4th bottle saving ourselves from ourselves.

Or did I just create the wine nanny state?

2 of us for the most part polished off the vino, the 3rd had a glass and then switched to vodka based drinks.  I think I'm jealous of her today, but from morning communications, she's not doing so hot today either.

It seemed like such a good idea at the time!

although, i believe all cell phones should have a breathalyzer built in disabling texting and dialing when over a certain BAC......that's not nanny state, that's just smart.

Nah.  More like the wine kiddie state.  We would have to get our kids to help us open the wine bottles too.

The screw caps are entirely too easy to operate when drunk.  However, don't you dare put on drunk caps, I probably wouldn't be able to get them open when sober, and that would definitely be a problem.

We do have a battery-operated corkscrew.  It works very well for either sober or drunk operators.

Ok the short of the long: Plan fell thru........no underwear was exchanged

He got tied up at work (not literally) and we missed our reservations, so decided we were going to head to a piano bar, skip a heavy dinner and go for lighter food and drinks.  When in pops my new roommate Annie (lives in the apartment above me)  She been dying to meet him after a year, and Annie is conveniently a sommelier, who happens to have a couple botttles of chilled bubbles and few bottles of Jack Nicklaus private reserve 2008.

Well the end of the story, is I had to share the Captain MOST of the night.  We finished off two bottles of bubbles and 3 bottles of wine, we made some chicken quesadillas and they talked wine shop all night, I was overserved and sat politely and just smiled (slurring NRG is not cute).  He was happy to finally meet one of my friends, as was she, and he missed his flight this morning Innocent

4th??? Surprised

Between how many peoples??

I've found the sweet spot with splitting one bottle of wine, but yeah. Used to put down an entire one (big or small) solo with no issues. Sigh.
