Same for me (minus the hockey) Later 75min run with some tempo in there. Tomorrow bike and run. Edited by marcag 2013-01-05 12:38 PM |

Master 3888 Overland Park, KS | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia - OPEN Man, you guys are killing it on the bike! Speaking of biking, just made my Retul fitting appointment at the LBS. January 21. Going to be dialed in for the optimal Tri bike which I can't afford at the moment. Once I have the data I will look for a used one. The bike shop owner also said he'll fit my road bike with aerobars as close as he can to the Retul fitting if I want. Went to spin this morning, then ran 3 miles on the 'mill. Then as I'm driving back from the bike shop, I notice it's 41 degrees out then see 10 riders out there. I could have rode outside today, doh! Well, there's still a little ice on the roads so the spin may have been a better workout since I was able to hammer it pretty hard. I'll check the weather see what tomorrow looks like. |

Probably do it this weekend when I have time to figure it out. Haven't posted any pictures to this site yet.heykev - 2013-01-03 8:27 PM KateTri1 - 2013-01-02 3:19 PM Sorry to bug you guys with more questions but, browsing X-Lab items on Amazon for a rear mounted bottle holder. I like the XLAB SUPER WING, Black and the XLAB Gorilla XT Carbon Cage (Black). What do you guys think? I was given the xlab carbon wing for christmas with two gorilla cages. When I mounted them they were right up against the seat. I did the on line chat with them and was asked to send a picture so I did. Never heard back. I called a couple time and nothing. Sent them an email right to tri sports and still no word. Might want to tell them what your putting it on to make sure it works. I'm going to try and call again tomorrow to what's up with mine. Looks like it should be a sweet set up. Hey Kev - post some pictures up here as well and maybe we can take a look at it? My wife uses the same setup on a Cobb saddle for training in remote areas (she loves it, BTW) and it is very easy to take on and off, but it does sit really close to her saddle as well. Let's see what you have? Here are some pictures, thanks for the help. Kev - the pictures are really small and I am using a smartphone, so it is hard to tell, but is the xLab bracket actually touching the seat or is it just really close? My wife's is within a millimeter or two of touching her seat, and I would guess that it actually does come in contact when it vibrates on rough roads. I will try to get some time to mount it and take some photos this weekend. I suppose the real question is what is your concern? Cutting/marring the seat, or is it hitting your butt? My wife has commented on the fact that she can feel hers when she is climbing and slides back on her seat - but not so much that it bugs her.[/QUOTE ]I tried to upload a bigger picture but it wouldn't take it. The help section told me it couldn't be any bigger than 100kb that's why it's so small. If there is a way to post a regular picture I'd like to know. Right now when I sit on the seat I can feel the cages. There right there. The wing itself clears the seat. What I was thinking of doing is using the other hole in the wing and moving it to the upper part of the rail where it is more verticle to push it out a little. Right now it is set up per instructions. Then take the bottom screw from the cages and move them toward the seat tilting the cage away a little more for clearance. Right now I have them in the center hole. No hurry putting yours on. The bike won't be going out till spring anyway. The only bike I'll have out now will be the mtb. Just wanted to get it on there to check it out. If your wife's is the same way, I'm good with that. Time for a short spin. Thank you. |

Member 112 Danielson Ct | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia - OPEN Long run day today. Went out and did 23 with a little more climbing. Things got pretty tough about mile 18 but finished. More of a walk, jog toward the end. Started out with 32 degrees then the wind picked up. I think that's what got to me. Short rest when I got home, some work around the house then out for a short spin to loosen up. |

Great thank you.A number of picture programs may have an option like "save for email" or webpage or some other size they consider typical for that use. This will shrink the amount of data, but not the resolution. Meaning the file size will be much smaller, but it it will look just as big on the screen. Well, it might shrink the resolution some depending on the program, but try them and see what happens. Edited by brigby1 2013-01-05 5:23 PM |

Master 10208 Northern IL | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia - OPEN 3 hrs on the trainer today. Sufferfest vids: The Hunted, Hell Hath No Fury, and The Wretched. Managed to be in the high 80's for all efforts. Could not believe the power at the end of The Wretched, but I guess that's what happens when Jens is involved. Haven't gone for 3 in quite awhile, so glad to see I could hold it. Then per the TSS discussion, it was 192 for this ride. So I can be sure that I'll feel something tomorrow. Not necessarily horrible, but it's reasonable to be a touch slow or maybe not really have much energy to do more than easy running. It's possible I could do something faster/harder, but would likely drive myself into a fatigue hole. I can also expect that this could affect Monday a little as well, depending on what I end up doing then. |

Interesting on the TSS note. I went back to my training logs from last winter when I had a few rides of that length to see if I noticed anything. I found a couple of entries where the TSS was up in that ballpark (not quite that high - more like 170-180) and in both cases the next day I either noted that my legs were dead or I wasn't able to complete a workout as planned. That's good stuff Ben, I will add this to my list of things to keep an eye on. |

Master 10208 Northern IL | Subject: RE: SBR Utopia - OPEN Yeah, if I had ridden at a rather easy effort, then it might have been down closer to 140. Still a decent amount for a day, but difference is quite noticeable. I think this type of ride can really show how the score can be valuable. There was so much moderate in there that it can really throw perception off. It's really hard to mentally keep track of that well. Biking can be so all over the place with effort. Unlike running where *generally* we'll see lots of easy and then some up near threshold (or other "hard" levels), a big jump where things tend to fall into effort groups a bit more neatly. |

It's certainly not the only way to improve but I find it to be a very effective way to improve. I spent the first couple of years that I started doing tris just riding my bike a bunch but never really riding all that hard except maybe to get up a hill and I improved a lot (I was starting from slightly above nothing). Then I started riding hard and I improved a lot more and faster than before. |
