Subject: RE: TAN #197: We CAN be polite, TANk u very much!I think I solved a big part of my wheel truing problem today. I figured out the solution to the rim bending problem. I had to take the Euler Bernoulli equations for a straight beam and convert it to a circular beam. This was the hard part. It turns out to be very simple. I would have expected that someone had solved it before but I couldn't find it. I will put the solution on my blog savetheneurons.blogspot.com when I get it typed up. I am working on the spoke model now. The equations for the spoke tension are easy. The vector math to apply the load in the correct direction is tedious but not hard. It is just a lot of trig. The last step is hooking the two parts together and putting it in the form of a vector equation. From that point on, it is computer programming. The actual calculation of the number of spoke turns to bring the rim into true looks like it will be a simple least squares minimization. It was a good birthday. |
