Congrats to your sister!!!

Yes!! Congrats to your sister :)

Wow! Great races, can't wait to read the race reports. @Monica very cool to meet Chrissie. I read her book earlier this year and was very inspired.

***************

First really big volume weekend. Saturday 1.5 mile open water strait swim followed by a 60 mile bike. Then the next day 11 mile run. I feel a little sore but for the most part I feel very confident 11 weeks out from my 70.3. I believe I am much better shape than I was in Galveston and really looking forward to this race. Have a great Monday Manatees!

Thanks!  The only pic I really wish I had taken is one of the three of us on Friday night.  Oh well, we'll just have to do that next year.

Sounds like we had the same experience - sucky race, but awesome weekend.  I'll be back next year for some redemption.... and the chili pepper.

If you want to donate to a good cause in his memory please see below.  he leaves a wife and a nine year old daughter.

So sad. Prayers to his family.

Oh Jo - what a terrible thing to have happen.

Thanks Manatees!!  It was a really tough day out there for me today.  I had to wait about an hour between my scheduled swim start and the actual swim start because they were dredging the lake for a missing racer.  Turns out he chickened out and didn't give anyone his chip.  Yell  By the time I was finishing my bike, it was starting to ran and it was raining most of the run.  I've never had so many people cheer as all the athletes who were cheering as I came into T2.  I know there were all just waiting to be able to get their bikes, but it was cool because they were all pretty supportive.  Also! I wasn't DFL!  2nd to DFL, but I managed to stay 14 seconds ahead of the girl who was chasing me the whole way.

Anyway...I may actually be eligible for an award.  I was the 3rd Athena below 40 and they gave awards 3 deep.  Have to check tomorrow.

I'm really sad I missed meeting you.  Frown

I heard about that guy - there were policemen stationed by his bike for the entire time too, just waiting to see if anyone would come by to claim the bike.  Frustrating!!

Pewpy about being in the rain, it started to sprinkle as we were walking around and when we were getting our bikes back to the car we were just finishing loading everything when the rain REALLY started coming down.  Did you find out about the award yet???

Nice job AGNat-ers and other racers! Can't wait to read the reports (especially the race weekend shenanigans).

Jo, so sorry about your friend. His family will be in my prayers.

I went to the myotherapist again. (why oh why does he feel a need to carry on a conversation with his elbow in my back?! It's almost as bad as the dentist!Yell) I am definitely feeling that *something* is happening. I feel... more loose in the joints I think. I feel great, even after the 3 hour hike with DS1 yesterday.

The office manager at the myotherapist is in to "essential oils". She mentioned a couple of them to me today. The peppermint, when rubbed topically on the legs, is supposed to "oxygenate the blood" and help release lactic acid. Not sure I believe that something topical can oxygenate the blood but I'm willing to try it pre-run to see how it affects my runUndecided. She gave me a small sample. She also mentioned another one that is supposed to help with migraines. I'm willing to try that one too, when I have my next one.

I think I'll do a little research though, after I read some race reports.

Can I just do a "fun in Chicago and Milwaukee" report? I don't even want to think about that race again! One more tri this weekend (a sprint) and I can retreat back to my safe zone (running)! Smile

My trip was insane. I don't even know where to start.

I tried to tell Monica, I did. But she would not listen.

We did agree to do a Canada vs US poutine mile. And this was before she and Tony finished their bottles of wine.

DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, put anything with peppermint or cinnamon on your temples for ANY reason.  Unless that burning feeling in your eyes for 24 hours is something that you enjoy, that is.  Trust me on this.

TJ, I am not sure how I feel about the topical. One part of me wants to try anything that might help. But I guess I am a cynic in general, so I'm not sure if it is worth your time. Let us know what you find.

She did warn me about getting it near my eyes. She said if it accidentally happens to flush it with olive oil. Of course, I live in the land of the chili pepper. I've had that in my eyes a time or two Surprised

Um... with your delayed flight and hence your lovely 'welcome' to Chicago??

So, there I was at 3:00 am on the el. As I floated between  sleep and consciousness, there was a man in the corner of my peripheral. Something about him caused me to take notice. I opened my eyes and slowly turned towards him, seeing the signs posted stating "If you feel unsafe, switch cars" as my gaze shifted ....
