Guys, seems I bit off more than I could chew this month. I guess the trick is to err on the side of underestimating. Although my goals were well intended, life does happen. I am not giving up but…I don’t think I will be able to swim 7100 yards, AND run 25 miles by Wednesday. Surprised I might be 100% on the bike by then! Regardless, I have been better with my training this month than I would have been had I not joined the challenge. Believe me, not meeting my goal was not for the lack of trying…I did spend over 15 hours on the bike, ran over 55 miles and swam 13,900 yards. I feel much more prepared for the Florida 70.3 in a few weeks than I did this time last month. Thanks for the motivation. Hope you guys check back with me to see how the race goes. I will check in on you guys, too!

That's really what it's all about.

Congrats on a great month, Charlotte!

Yep! What Bill said: ^^^^^.

Whew!  The swim is at 100%!!!!  And I still have a swim planned for Wednesday.  Bike is at 96% and I've got two sessions left.  Our local Tuesday Time Trial Series kicks off tomorrow.  7 miles of hell!!!  I'll be getting in a nice long warm up and probably some trainer work afterwards.  Plus, spin therapy on Wednesday.  Ahhhhhhh.  This challenge has really held me to my running, which I needed BADLY.  Almost to twelve hours with a 45 minute run scheduled on Wednesday (oh crap, Wednesday is going to be rough).  Woo hoo!

Oh, and I've got those extra five hours and twelve minutes to double up for the century ride plus another 28 minutes for a 5k.  I hope that helps us get out of one of the last two places.  We are NOT BUTTERCUPS!!!

TRAIN!!!

I haven't broken the 30:00 barrier in the 5k yet (after running for 4 years) And I ran a 28:40. I am so elated!!!!! This really has been a great running month for me even with the low mileage. I am finally gaining speed!! FINALLY!!!

Congrats! I hope to do that too some day soon! It must be an awesome feeling!

Hey, Onions!  I have officially completed my portion of the challenge, and will add some more bike time, tonight, and maybe some run time, tomorrow.

Keep going, everyone... just don't injure yourselves if you way overestimated your goals for the month... although we reserve the right to taunt you     Seriously, it is a team effort, and this has been a great team!

Hey all -- to whom do I apply to bail out of the challenge?  This month has just not gone the way I would have liked for it to -- just one thing after another after another and I've done squat for the last 2 weeks and even had minimal internet access for much of that time.  I don't want to drag the rest of the team down, so please point me in the direction of the person running the challenge.

Thanks

Suzanne - sorry to hear that your month hasn't been going the way you'd hoped. It happens to all of us.

Yep, Artemis (Jen) is the person organizing the challenge this month.

Hope next month is better for you!

Well, I finished up my bike goal tonight.  Did a time trial.  Our cycling club holds a time trial series every last tuesday of the month till September, but anyway.  Warmed up thirty minutes for a 7.5 mile TT.  Or maybe it was 7 miles.  I don't really know since I forgot to stop my computer.  I did it in 18:30, or 18:03.  I can't really remember what they said.  Either way, it was a lung burning, nausea inducing, hell of good time.

Gotta run in the morning to cap things off... if these hiccups ever go away!

He hasn't stopped by the challenge forum or replied to inspires, but he has an entry in his blog. Sounds like he's still not feeling well:

Whew!  Done!  And with little time to spare.  I still have a spin and a swim this afternoon which will boost the percentages a little over 100%.  Oh, and I've got 5 hours and 40 minutes of racing time to double up in there too

Will we be out of DFL?

I'll meet my cycling goal after work tonight. I fell short on the run this month (I'll probably get 2-3 in after class, though). Blah.

Hopefully we'll have enough to get us out of last place.

I plan on finishing up my run portion as I am short 5 minutes, will be going for at least 45 minutes so I should be at the 110%, I think.  Spent yesterday in the ER with hubby, never seen him this sick after 20 years, some inner ear thing, never really got a diagnosis, just a lot of expensive test. Go figure he is back at work today.

Great job grinding it out team!
