The only reason I would do a marathon is to train for an IM. I have no desire to run that far for fun So if I do the IM next year, forget the marathon! |

Pro 4507 Simpsonville, SC | Subject: RE: Nibbs XIV aka Challenge Chat. Come join us! Artemis - 2008-04-09 8:10 PM Yes. My CT was clear, so there isn't anything worse wrong with me. No hernia on the CT, but that happens a lot. She said I should go see a surgeon, so I have an appointment with one on Tuesday. That's good. So no appendix or gallbladder stuff. Did she clear you for running? Or do you need to consult the surgeon first? |

The only reason I would do a marathon is to train for an IM. I have no desire to run that far for fun So if I do the IM next year, forget the marathon! That was always my IM plan before I got derailed... no way was I going to do a marathon before an Im - I would just do it in the IM! Felt the same way about the half distance too! What about cycling? Would yuo consider foscuing on that long term?
You may find the time demands you are worried about with your family are less of an issue than you feel they are! |

Is it wrong, now that I know I'm # 98 (and rising) on the list, that I feel compelled to keep posting to stay ahead of RunningWoof and Matchman? Yeah, I didn't think so either - I just wanted a Nibbin opinion. |

Is it possible to go through a growth spurt at 35 years old? I am CONSTANTLY hungry. We just got done with dinner an hour ago and I'm starving. Starving. Ready to eat my arm off starving. Since I didn't have a big workout day, the only possible answer I can think of is that I'm growing. |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Nibbs XIV aka Challenge Chat. Come join us! barqhead - 2008-04-09 3:45 PM I want to bounce this off the Nibbs. April is the beginning of my big build for Mooseman. I am really feeling the stress with all the training, family stuff and work stuff. In 2005, I made a "5 year plan" for triathlons. I knew in 2 years, I wanted to do an HIM and in 2010, the year I turn 40, I want to do IMCDA. So far everything has been clicking right along. But now I am wondering if I should move up the IM to next year. Then I could go back to racing sprints and olys for awhile to be able to spend more time with my family. I don't want to back down next season and still do IMCDA in 2010 because I would lose a lot of my base that I've been working so hard to build. Would you consider doing an IM when you have never done a marathon or 100 mile bike ride? Obviously, I will be doing lots of training, but I don't know. I also know something is going to have to give for me to keep up this level and volume of training. I'm not sure if I can handle it for 2 more years. Thanks for the input. I'm just having one of those freak out OMG what am I doing? days. Pam, I think you know yourself better than we do. If you think you can put in the training for next year then I would go for it. Some people get there a lot quicker than 5 years because they can put the time in. If it is good for you to do next year, then go for it. If not, stick to your plan. From previous posts it sounds as if your family is behind you in your goal. Talk it out with them. Of course, this is all from someone who will never do an IM. I do hope to do a HIM before I'm 60, LOL. |

I think it might be linked to a colorie deficit the day prior... If you are that hungry just make sure you are filling the hole with good stuff and dont worry about it too much! |
