Will you be able to talk to Nibbs while on vacation?

probably not - my parents have unbelievably slow internet access up there

We'd better slow down... w/out TinkerBeth to grant us our new thread we might end up well into the hundreds before Beth gets back.

Vacation in Minnesota Lakes...

Won't the water be cold?

Though I think I'd be kayaking all day....

Depends on the lake. A few of the smaller, shallower lakes get up to 78 degrees...Lake Superior on the other hand, is almost a constant 48 degrees year round...Surprised

Yeah, I remember going to Lake Superior as a kid. I don't think we ever got in.  There's pictures of us wearing sweatshirts in the summer.

I probably won't have time though since I will hae to start testing my new website when I get back from vacation

Alright Nibbs I need some power sent my way to change my wife's mind!

I want to do the Philadelphia Marathon and she is against it because I won't finish up the kitchen project.  Give me the power to complete the kitchen (soon because training plan would start 2 weeks from now) so that she sees that I am not crazy and can do the plan - along with all my biking that I do.

Or do I just bag the marathon and wait until next year and give her some time to get over all the training I have done this year so far (and will continue also!).  I have a 50K and a 50 miler that I want to do along with my Xterra and adventure race.

Women's point of view appreciated even though you guys are triathlete's so your view may be scewed to my side a little!

Bill,

That sounds like a full plate of training in itself.  It may be wise to 1.  keep the peace 2.  not overstress the body with that training load for the Philly marathon this year.  I know it's a disappointment if you don't do it, but the marathon isn't going to be stopped in the next year.  Major cities love the tourists that show up for doing marathons, they aren't dropping any time soon.

Isn't there a late winter/early spring marathon you can enter instead?

I think after spending most of last summer getting ready for CIM, and doing those ungodly long runs in the heat, that a late winter marathon makes so much more sense. You can't really ride outside without lights during the winter in the Northern Hemisphere, but you can run easily whether the sun is up or not, or whether there's snow on the ground, or not - and its easier to run long in cold weather.

wisely said there, too!  I loved the spring half mary training since most of it was from January through March.  The fall half mary training is going to be rough just cause of heat/humidity-not to mention I have 5 more weeks till the oly so my runs are not quite as long as the half mary plans indicate they should be.

Okay, Bill, I know you already made up your mind, but here is my 2 cents worth.

Our deck was installed last Sept. Hubby started with the staining of the deck. It is now almost August (11 months later) and the deck is not done being stained. He wanted to go on a motorcycle ride last Sunday while I was at work. Mind you he rode the motorcycle all day on Saturday, the previous Wed, the previous Sun. So, last Saturday when he mentioned going on the ride on Sunday my peeveish response was "Fine, just make sure you hire someone this week to finish the deck."

guess what he did on Sunday...he was staining the deck.

So bottom line, I don't have any problem with him (or me) doing outside activities as long as we have taken care of what we need to around the house. Ans as you can see from the time frame, I think I have been pretty relaxed about how quickly he needed to get the deck done.

And by the way, on my day off, I did several hours of yard work in addition to a weeks worth of laundry. So, I'm not expecting him to do any more than I do.
