Just running a 5K race this weekend along with regular scheduled training.  Got another 6 weeks till my first Sprint race.  The bike & run part I am ready for today. Swimming well I will use those 6 weeks to get better.

Good morning everyone!

Good luck to those racing this weekend.

I can't make any promises, but I made a few calls, and the bad weather should hold off until your races are finished. These aren't my most reliable resources though, so we'll have to see what happens.

Not for sure what I did to my legs but after dinner last night my calves hurt so bad, I can barely walk.  I practiced transitions, worked on my bike, mowed, nothing to crazy.   Still hurt pretty bad this morning, hoping I can stretch them out.

Not good!

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

Use ice the first 24-48 hours, then heat after that. Maybe some NSAIDs, too.

Hope you feel better fast!

wgraves7582 - 2010-04-23 6:32 PM Howdy Ghoulies.  Took a relaxing day today.  Did some riding with my son at the campground and then had to come pick my father up.  Did some running around for him and I have just spent the last 1 hour or so tearing apart an old Huffy I found for $5.00.

I think I might paint it pink and ride it around town - I think that would be so cool but no one seems to agree with me!!!!  Should I feel insulted?????

no, that should only inspire you to paint it in a particularly garish manner & to give it an exceptional name!

It is pretty flat where I train.  For my third ever tri, I signed up for a Sprint that is very hilly (for me).  Check out the bike course http://maps.onemillionrevolutions.org/profile.jsp?segmentID=10611 elevation.  As if that is not enough, the run is much more hilly than I'm used to too.  http://maps.onemillionrevolutions.org/profile.jsp?segmentID=10612 Nice 17% grade near the end of the run should be fun.

I know it's no where near as hilly as PA, SC, CA and many other places, but it is hilly for me.  Any training suggestions? Find the biggest hill I can and do hill repeats once a week?

I know this is extreme but you could get a rope and tie it to your waist and the other end to a tire and run with it. Heard lots of good things about what it does for running up hills. Just seems a little out there for me, ok I would do it once or twice if no one was looking.

Wow I just looked at the run you are doing- that is filled with hills. How long do you have till you do that Tri?

That one is June 27th.  I was going to make that my first Oly until I checked out the elevation charts.  Now it is my third sprint.

That bike course is just as bad.  Wish it was closer I would love to do that with ya.  Those kind of tri would separate the one that wanted and trained for it from those that didn't in a real hurry.

Yeah, I probably won't place as high because it will scare of beginners away.  Oh well.

I'm glad you asked when it was.  I just double checked and they moved it from Sunday to Saturday 6/26.

Do you blog about your training/journey like some of the others on here do. I would love to follow your journey as how you prepared. I actually follow Ann's blog I just started the blog thing last month and I find it helps my family/friends (live all over the states) stay in touch with whats going on. I hate talking/whining about myself but so far it been a great experience from the feedback I have gotten.

Agree. Maybe incorporate some 60's type swirls and circles?

Ugh, that looks very challenging. Definitely hill repeats.

I have heard of this too. Would definitely do this in the early morning (before the sun is up), and even then I am not sure. Surprised

Aerosmith, absolutely. Live cuts even better. Dream On is probably my favorite. Most CCR, too...
