Well, i took a week off of running to see if that would help the shin splints.

it helped, but didn't fix them.

guess I'll just work on the swim and bike, and go from there.

Remember me?

Hi, sorry for being away for so long. Mav - Thanks sooo much for bugging me about my blog. I had no idea it had been sooo long since i posted anything. I'm usually pretty good. I think the epic 5 hr mountain biking session wiped me out  - that was the last time i logged anything.

Anyway, i've been busy, got to the pool a few times (2 or 3 not sure), i've been working on my MTB skills (reading a book and trying to build the skills). Got out for a long road ride on Sunday - beautiful day !! And i've been getting runs in here and there (treddy, road, trail) mostly ez run training to build.

I see you've all been very busy. Mark - congrats on the 1/2 Mary time!! Awesome!

To all the mom's - i hope you all had a fantastic MOTHERS DAY !!
Where would any of us be w/o our moms

Hello everybody.

Made it in the pool today, :D

I did 500M, some kick drills, side drills, and about 200M freestyle.

feel pretty good right now, will see tomorrow. If all goes well back in the pool on Sat.

Hoping to meet up with the Boulder Tri club for a group bike workout. They are planning on riding the June Sprint course

Now that it's finally getting nice out it's hard to let a nice day go by without an outdoor workout. My priority yesterday was to swim, but i had to go for a run on the trail first and enjoy the weather. Out of guilt, i made myself go to the pool on the way home. Figuring even if i did 20 or 30 minutes it would at least be practice. Worked out fine, tho my feet ended up cramping up and ending my pool workout. i tend to get foot cramps while swimming almost everytime i go. Usually they pass and i can continue, but last night they kept coming back. That and the other guilt of not being home yet @ 8:30. When i got home, packed my Mountain Bike in my car for todays after work ride (forgot my lights tho - should be out before dark

Bob - Toss a Pull buoy into your swim bag and keep it on the deck next to your bottle of gatoraid.  Next time your legs start to fatigue and cramp, switch over to the using the pull bouy.  This takes some of the strain off the kick and helps to relax your feet.  Then you can continue training on the swim.  After a few minutes the tension works out of your legs, you can stop using the buoy.

Cheers,

Hey everyone ! Hope you all had a great weekend. I was planning on doing a MTB race today, but between the beating i took thursday night and the food and drink from the picnic i went to yesterday i opted not to wake up a 6am on a sunday morning to drive over an hour and race in the mud and rain. Call me a WUSS! I think it turned out to be a good decision. I ended up sleeping in a bit (past 9) then getting a great swim workout in and even got some things accomplished around the house. What's everyone else up to? Oh, also, i've been catching up on my DVR'd Giro d'Italia. I'm only a day behind now. I couldn't bring myself to watch for a couple days after the horrible accident on day 3 that took the life of a 26 year old rider. Very sad.

Fit has been going crazy.  I promised to go easy but that was over a week ago and with just two weeks until the first tri of the season, I getting in all the volume possible. Thats means 40 mile in aero doing intervals yesterday. Yes it hurts.  Today I calmed down a bit to swim 1300, bike 18 and ran 10.  Thats more than 3200 calories. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

My race strategy is this.  Slay the bunny - Shock the monkey.  The bunny chases anything on wheels sometimes the bunny try's to pace cars.  On the run the bunny tries to pace bikes.  Slay the bunny.  The monkey finds a reason to change the plan.  Shock the monkey.

SOunds like a solid plan Mark!!! BUT...you need to start the taper soon. I would strongly suggest you BACK OFF after this week. There is nothing more to be gained by training heavy volume. The hay is in the barn!!!! Relax allow your body to recover from the increased volume.

I am so excited for you!!!!! I predict an awesome race for you!!!!

Sign ups for IMAZ volunteering begin 7/1......next year the full IM!!!!!

YAY Bob for another successful day at the pool!!!!!! If you have a reason to get a gift ( ie B day or fathers day) I love my swim mp 3 player. Really breaks up the boredom of swimming long.

The weather is miserable and I too would have bailed on a ride in the mud.

I was much more deterred by the 6am wakeup call then the mud

To be honest I think i'm just going to start focusing on running (with some cross training thrown in, of course) and do the Bellingham Bay 1/2 mary. I had wanted to do the Lake Padden tri and the Ft Lewis series but I just can't this year

I really am alive...work and school were kicking my butt and i'm even contemplating taking next semester off but being only 5 classes away I know i'll come to regret it later so we shall see!

Needless to say I am on a break from school right now so I can stop by more and more

Michelle - Just tri for one sprint this year.  You'll have so much fun.  Come on........  Training for the Half Mary is a great idea!  Perfect training plan to be ready to jump in the water at Lake Stevens 70.3 next summer.

Cheers.

So, on to a more jovial subject...who watches hockey?? Anyone? Who are you rooting for?
