kns57 - 2012-04-11 6:17 AM Hubby is going to ride a byicyle ride on May 5th.  He was just going to do the 25 miles, but has now decided to do the 50 miles.  Um, he has only gotten out on his bicycle twice this spring.  Me thinks he needs to do some more training...

Ouch!!!

My sentiments as well. He is gonna have one sore tush!

Yeah, and I don't want to hear about it.

You should come up here that weekend. May 4th there is a "hops and honey" festival up the road about 5 miles with a 5 K race (that I wont be doing) that should be bunches of fun. The next day is the first ever Lake Lure classical academy 5K Toga run that we are helping to put on. Volunteers would be good. Frank could ride and then moan and use frozen peas to his hearts content!

Sounds like a great weekend.  Would love to head up there except I'll be working at the Snellville Daze festival selling raffle tickets for Rotary.  Anyone want to buy a raffle tickets for a chance to win a 5 day cruise?

Sure, depending on the price.

$10 for a chance to win a five night Carnival Caribbean Cruise for Two.

The drawing will be at the Snellville Beach Blast on May 19th.  You do not have to be present to win.  All proceeds will benefit the Snellville Citizens Police Academy Alumni and the Snellville Rotary Club (my club).  Just PM me is anyone is really interested.  The Rotary Club is planning on using the funds that we raise from the race and raffle to build a pavilion for the new Snellville Community Garden.

I'll Buy two. It is good to have a pavilion at the Beach! Who thought of having a Beach Blast, anyway? I'll send you a check. A free cruise would be just fine with me.

Morning Ghoulies

Howdy Ann. What's up this morning?

Busy day... I'm at work now, then gotta run to a doc appointment, back to work for an 1+ phone call with my boss (annual reviews for the company are due tomorrow, and the accoutning department has decided that yes, I need to do one, my boss informed me of this yesterday), then parent teacher conference this afternoon for my daughter. I'm hoping for a short nap when I get home from the conference, then its feed the kiddos, and they're off to soccer (my daughter likes to go along with them). I'm having my husband drop me off a few miles from home, I'll have to hoof it home or sleep outside tonight!

What do you have going on today?

That is indeed a busy day. I am going to the State park to check out the clean up. It has been a while, one of my co-workers has been going but I got greedy and need a day out of here. I am strangely unmotivated at work lately. Last weeks meeting with idiots did not help. I need to re-group. I hope to stop by the pool and get a swim in at lunch time.

I'm back from my doctor appointment. I've lost 10 pounds since the last one. WOOT!

I think you all know that I have hemachromatosis, I absorb more iron than I should. I have blood tests going back 7 years where my iron was too high, and that's only what is available online. I had bloodwork done last week and my iron is actually too low. Let me tell you, that's one way to confuse a hematologist. He told me to go eat a burger.

I also have been diagnosed with something called polycythemia vera. This puts me at risk for blood clots, and some other less than fun stuff. My doc also told me to stay in Key West at least until Tuesday, he didn't think it would be a good idea to fly the day after running a half marathon. This is the same advice my family doc gave me when I went to AZ a few years ago. I had wonky blood numbers then, but not an official diagnosis. So I'm thinking I'll be in Key West from Friday to Tuesday.

Howdy. I just got back from the State Park. It is where the Hunger Games was filmed. You would not believe then number of people there now. The spectacular weather and spring break is adding to it, but there are tons of people wanting to go where it was filmed.

I got my swim in using my new lap counter. Dang, I am slow... But that is not news, it is just now documented.

That Fantastic is on the weight loss, Ann. You want to play it safe, staying in Key west longer is a good way to do it!

I think I remember reading somewhere that parts of it were filmed around Asheville. I think some of the land that was used is now for sale, too.

I was out running around last night, and I was going to get a burger for dinner, but I really wasn't that hungry, and I didn't want a fast food burger, I wanted a big juicy bacon cheeseburger. I didn't have one though. That's my goal for the weekend - get a burger somewhere. I'm hoping to hike an 8 mile section of the AT on Sunday, so it would be a good treat Sunday when I'm done.

Hey Ann. A big juicy burger sounds good. And that is coming from a mostly vegetarian!

Excellent plan! All I have to do is toss a change of socks and underoos in my SAR pack, and a little food, and I would spend some time out in the woods. The original forecast for Sunday was 75, I just looked at the weather and now it could be 85 on Sunday. I am definitely doing some hiking!!!

I have tried very hard to avoid red meat because of my hemachromatosis, so I eat a lot of chicken. A burger sure does sound good right now.

Since we are talking about the AT this morning, I have often dreamed of doing a thr hike, but since I am not a self supporting millionaire, and my kiddos still need someone to drive them to all of the places they need to be, it just isn't happening. Unfortunately by the time my kiddos won't need me around every day, and financially I would be able to take 6 months off of work I will be too old to do it.

THAT is the idea!!!

I will have to wait until after I  retire.. somewhere around 56. Then I will have so many things on my "WANT to do" list, that it is a good bet that I would be around 70 as well.

Start planning now. In 10 years, we will hike the entire AT. That's what I'll do for my 50th birthday.
