I swear I'd kill myself MTB racing.  Anyone see this from NOLA this weekend

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DgH3dr-QTnA

I think that is two years in a row now they have cancelled the swim there. My friend went there last year and they cancelled it I believe. Of course we had some of that come through Saturday and Sunday here. Now it is back to being cold and wet :/ Good thing I picked up that trainer

Rizer-Nice job on your race. Sorry about the flat. I hope the race gives you confidence going into your next race though!

That race is jinxed.  I think 3 of the last 4 years there have been issues.  I  believe they took the run out of the French Quarter as well which is the only redeeming aspect to the race anyway.  They need to scrap it and put a 70.3 in Dallas/Ft. Worth (TCU campus is gorgeous) or at worst in Baton Rouge.  A run through the LSU campus would be beautiful.

Yay race week.   :HappyDance:

On a side not I think I'm spending a good amount of my free time trying to get my friend Cassie to calm down.  She is a VERY green swimmer but signed up for the Oly I'm doing this weekend. She is afraid of making the cut off (56 min.).  I'm pretty sure she's going to freak out when she sees how far the boat is off shore when we start.  I keep trying to assure her that 1500m is 1500m whether swimming in a triangle closer to shore or straight in from a boat.

Good luck with your friend I hope you can help motivate her and give her the confidence she needs. I am sure you are excited for this week. My first tri is only 4 weeks away now! I am starting to get anxious.

On the trainer this morning for a little over an hour when I hear a strange noise and then I hear this pop and a ricochet type of noise, scared the crap out of me. I thought my chain exploded but to my surprise it was fine. It turned out to be a flat which considering I put a thousand miles outside and 2500 miles inside on the same tube and tire I can't complain. Pulled it off and inspected the tire and couldn't find anything wrong with it so I put a new tube in and inflated it. Before I could even put it back on the bike it exploded and scared me once again. I definitely didn't pinch anything so I put a new tube and a different old tire on and it was fine. I didn't have time to finish my workout which sucked.

Upside is between changing two tires this morning and swapping wheels many times between my inside and outside sets I'm finally getting better at it. I feel like in a race I could do the back wheel in under ten minutes now where as before it might be triple that.

Glad to see everyone had a great weekend I was super busy but got all my workouts in. The toughest being a 4 hour ride yesterday whenit was 49 degrees and 1-15 mph winds. I was happy with the outcome and whatever dosen't kill you only makes you tougher so it was a good day!!

I'm trying to be a tad smarter about my approach to things.  Now to keep myself from doing something dumb on Sunday.

In other news, I'm having a "hedgehog" kit designed by Betty Designs mafe for me.

Betty Designs does really cool work (check it out -- http://www.bettydesigns.com/) and I'm excited about what's its going to look like.  Obviously I'll post the ideas here once I get them back.

I'm looking around for a sticker for my bike.  My kids are obsessed with Pokemon.  My 2 oldest kids gave everyone in the family a Pokemon name.  Mine is Mankey (a cross btw a monkey and a pig....the apples don't fall far; do they?  LOL).  I love my Pokemon identity.  I want to put a Mankey sticker on my bike to make my kids happy.

I had my vinyl Pikachu Decal done on Etsy.com.

My guess is they could do a Mankey for you as well.

I have to agree with that response.  I guess I should have been more specific though.  If you were to put three solid legs together, and you were able to swim, run and ride the paces your race plan calls for, where would that put you for time?

I have another mountain bike race sunday. Much harder one, lots of climbing.  I am actually moving up a class. I'm trying to win a race at Cat 3 before moving up, but this series is pretty laid back, and there are lots of sandbaggers. So I am now not worrying too much about my placing, just want to move up a class to ride the longer mileage races.  I'm using these as somewhat my interval workouts for the week.  MTB is pretty much intervals.  Avg HR for the race on Sunday was 169, for just over an hour.

You're killing me.  3 good legs would put me in the 2:30:00 area.  The trick will be to keep my HR under control on the bike so I can run to my potential.

I don't want to jinx by admitting race strategy/time goals because I am so nervous now that the expectation is so high. I will say this, my best HM so far is 2:36:59 and I am expecting a GINORMOUS PR. The weather is going to be about 50-55, so good for me. I will need everyone to funnel lots and lots of oxygen my way come Saturday.
