Yesterday morning Keri was at the orthodontist to get an appliance cemented into the roof of her mouth to help spread her jaw out, there is no room for her teeth to come in. This spring the kid will be getting braces. Right now she can't talk, or eat, and she is drooling all over the place. I felt so bad for the kiddo last night. She normally is moving and eating around the clock. Last night she couldn't eat anything. She had some mashed potatoes, and a slushy I made her for dinner. She just kind of laid around and wanted me to hold her last night.

Today her chorus ensemble is going to Harrisburg to sing Christmas carols at the Capitol building, then taking a tour afterward. The have arrangements then to take the kiddos out to lunch, but she doesn't want to go. I'm going to watch them sing so she asked me to bring her home with me. I'll stop somewhere on the way home where we can try and get something for her to eat. I know a little ma and pop diner where we can probably get mashed potatoes, cooked vegetables, and ice cream. I was going to stop and pick up a few stocking stuffers, but I'll do that later.

My son went through something similar.  I had to turn it a couple of times each day for about a week or so to spread out the jaw.  It was painful.  Milkshakes are good.

OUCH! I change my mind. I am glad I didn't have any orthodontia after all!

back in the day, when I had braces, they just pulled out four of my teeth because the mouth was not big enough.  but now they don't want to pull the teeth, so they spread the jaw.  ouch.

And that's supposed to be better??!!  Yikes!!!

That's what the device my daughter has is for, to spread her jaw because there is no room for the adult teeth to come in. I turn it 2 notches, once a day, for 2 weeks, then it will just sit there for another 2-3 months. I know the kid is hurting, but she doesn't like to take medicine so I can't get any motrin in her.

When I was her age, and I needed braces, I had 9 teeth pulled. I'm glad they don't do that anymore.

That is why I didn't get braces. They wanted to remove 8 molars (you know, most of them) and have my wisdom teeth repace 4 of them. When they did the x-ray and found out I didn't' have wisdom teeth (go ahead, make the jokes ) the still wanted to pull all of them. All I could think of was the Abdominal Snow man in Rudolph with no teeth. I said no.

Do you mean they wanted to pull 8 adult teeth?

Wanna hear something totally, completely stoopid?

I have a former friend here in town. She is beautiful, amazingly talented at decorating and photography (to the extent she could make BIG bucks), she has a beautiful smart daughter, a beautiful smart step daughter, a nice husband. She is a thief. Evidently she has done little thefts he whole working life- cash from the till here and there. A few years ago, she had a great job at the local Inn being the event planner and decorating for weddings and other events. She stole from them, they (rightly) prosecuted. Jim and I stood up for her in court. She got suspended sentence and bail. Since then, she has stolen credit card names from the people (friends of hers) she cleaned cottages for (no prosecution though, they "felt bad for her"), Jim and I,  and then the restaurant she worked for (credit card fraud and money). They prosecuted. Now, she is sitting in the county jail, a couple of days before Christmas with no bail (and no one to pay the bail if they set one).

STOOPID to toss all of that away. She will lose custody of her child that she adores. STOOPID.

That is basically me.  I had two baby teeth pulled that had not come out.  Four adult teeth pulled, and then the four wisdom teeth.  The wisdom teeth were not pulled until 8 years later, but the other six were all done when I was in 8th grade.  I had braces from 8th through 11th grade.  Not fun.  Ask how many retainers I lost.  AND I still have a gap between my two front teeth.

Some people are not happy with what they have, thinking that they need more.  Not an excuse or a good reason.

Yeah, it is raining today.  Happy happy day.

Tonight I start putting up Christmas decorations in the house.  I think only one tree may go up, but we shall see.  It might be two, but it won't be three.  Maybe I just need to go and get another small tree for the one room that I won't be putting one up in.  Hmmmm.  That is a possibility.

Tomorrow I finish the decorations and then go and buy a xmas present for our Rotary exchange student.  I'm not feeling the love with this student like I have others in the past as he has blown our club off several times now.  Dude, we are paying for your year at school, what's up with that?

Another wind & rain storm last night.  I know several people with roof damage from the one Sunday night.  Fortunately not us.

Long day today.  Work, Haircut, then rehearsal for church.  Home about 9 tonight.

I have absolutely NO desire to be at work today. I have nothing to do, which is probably good because I am very distracted thinking about everything I need to get done in the next few days.

deehtz - 2012-12-19 9:59 AM Did I mention that I made dog biscuits this weekend?  My first try at homemade treats for them.  They are supposed to be healthier and less calories than the store bought biscuits.  My dogs LOVE them!

Cool! I was going to try that, but my pup doesn't like most dog biscuits and I was fearful it would be a waste of time. I know, I know, what kind of dog doesn't like biscuits? My former dog would do a cookie dance, she even knew how to spell cookie, biscuit,  and treat.

You might try them.  This recipe makes a small batch and doesn't take much stuff.  My dogs do like treats but they are REALLY fond of these.  My shepherd has a touchy gut and a lot of foods and treats/biscuits give her the runs.  These biscuits don't seem to bother her gut at all.  They are also supposed to be lower calorie than biscuits like milk-bones which is important for my little dog.

I am game. Can you send me the recipe?

2 1/2 cups whole wheat or barley flour

2 eggs

1 CUP canned pumpkin

3 Tablespoons peanut butter

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Oven 350*

Stir together dry ingredients.  Separate bowl, whisk eggs, pumpkin, and peanutbutter.  Add egg mixture to flour mixture and knead thoroughly.  Add more flour as needed to make a stiff, dry dough.  (Add small amounts of water if needed to make it workable.)  Roll dough to half-inch thickness and cut with knife or cookie cutters.

Bake about 40 minutes, or until hard & dry.  Store in airtight container.

Hope your dog likes them!  You can always throw them out for the wild critters or gift them to the neighbors dog!

ceilidh - 2012-12-20 10:12 AM The national weather service map for the US is very multi-colored with all of its warnings.

Mobile, AL is getting hammered right now. There are lots of tornado warnings for the south, too.

I vote for 2 trees today and one tomorrow!

It is starting to rain here, then tomorrow comes the winds. YUCK. I HATE wind. gusts to 50 MPH! YUCK!

Come up here. You can keep my company while I work from home. Then we can go grab some lunch, and finish my shopping.

I have absolutely NO desire to be at work today. I have nothing to do, which is probably good because I am very distracted thinking about everything I need to get done in the next few days.

I would love to. BUT, the kid just came home so I am going to stay here and visit. She hates wind too, so we can whine together!

She can come along, more hands to wrap presents. There may be a bottle of chocolate wine somewhere in the house, too, along with 5 other bottles of wine.

deehtz - 2012-12-19 9:59 AM Did I mention that I made dog biscuits this weekend?

Thanks Dee. I'll try them this weekend. If my dog doesn't like them... GIFTS for my friends with pups.

I don't mind the wind when I am at home, but if I am at work and it rains with the wind, then the roof leaks.  The wind blows the rain under the tiles and then we have rain inside.  Cool! (not)
