So I did the brain fart of all brain farts that culminated in a VERY interesting scenario last Friday.

I had to go just South of Richmond, VA to give a talk last Friday.  Since it costs a small fortune to go directly into Richmond, I got a flight to DC, rented a car and drove down.  Anyway, I've known about this for a while, and the wifie was in NYC at the same time and about a month ago, when I booked the flight, we were originally going to meet in NYC and I would book multiple one way flights.  That fell through and I just booked, what I thought, was an in and out.  In Thursday, out Friday.

Yeah.  not so much.  I was definitely in Thursday.  That went off without a hitch.  And on Friday, as I'm driving back to DC to go to Reagan National, I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting access to the flight I thought I was on through my United App.  Well, that is because for some god foresaken reason, I booked the return trip for tomorrow, not last Friday.  Yep.  I didn't even screw it up where I was a week off, I was 5 days off.  WTF!?!?!

So I calmly walked up to the ticket counter.  Explained my situation.  Patiently waited for the ticket agent to stop laughing.  She nicely informed me that I would get charged through the nose if she did it so she phoned the Premier Hot Line for me.  I then explained my situation to the woman on the phone.  I again waited patiently for her to stop laughing.  And by some miracle, I was actually able to get on the flight that I thought I had booked.  I literally got the last seat on the plane.  2 hours before it was scheduled to take off.

Now, I know I'm getting older, but jeez o'pete!!!!  I've never done that kind of crap before!  So now I'm submitting my expenses and HOPING finance will ok it.

Your resident airhead.

How much was it? I'd certainly catch hell for that. Plus, Reagan is extortion pricing anyway. but, Hotwire is good with me for hotel brain farts. I've moved tons of times and they either refund or give me "hotdollars" to use for my next booking. I book 100+ nights a year through them, so...

Typical United Transfer fee of $150.  And it was hella cheaper on United than anywhere else.  Richmond was quoting $960 for an overnight flight.  Before my screw up, this was $217.

That's not terrible. Or as Sir Charles says, "turrible". It's the fare increase which usually is the killer. You'll pay that day's fare which is usually 3-4X what you booked at. Ouch indeed.

Yeah, I got SOOPER lucky.

How ya doin', Cheri? Been a while since we've spoke! I wish I were around here more often to hang with you guys, but since changing jobs (now a head hunter), I work on 100% commission, so productivity needs to be high, and BT was my #1 time waster

I just was collateral damage for a major blowup on a project I'm not even related to.  All MY stuff is doing pretty well.  BUT, this instance brought up a QA/QC speech that as managers, we all needed to hear and get reprimanded about.

You know, instead of blaming the culprit, yell at the team.  I'm not upset, I know how that goes.  BUT, I was sitting there not understanding AT ALL what they were talking about and wasting my time when I'm already behind.  It got worse when the guy this was really about, needed to defend himself.  So instead of a quick QA/QC message, turned into a big back and forth about a project I have no knowledge of other than it's something the office is working on.

I love the corporate world sometimes.

According to Family Guy the other night, Montreal has the best strip clubs that could be considered the happiest places in the world.

I agree, Family Guy is never wrong. But when she's still got the scabs from the boob job: Yeah...I kinda threw up in my mouth a little bit.
