Yes, I haven't had a chance to ride it yet but I am 6 foot as well, 32 inseam and its a 56. I am getting fitted on it but it's definitely the right size for me. It's an aggressive set-up so if you're flexible and are comfortable in Aero it seems to be the one... I can't stop staring at it and can't wait to ride.

My dead felt is a 54 I am 5'9" with a 30 inch inseam and the seat is on the front setting. So if I were like 5'11" or so the seat could go on the back post setting. So I imagine the 56 is fine again with the seat set on the front setting. Not a technical explanation, but it is probably the right size.

Still not feeling it, rest week this week, 5 mile run, 20 mile bike, still just beat all slow. Maybe tomorrow I'll start feeling spunky. Just found out about a 25 mile local bike race. I am sure that my body will not like it, but I will enter anyway, maybe there I can do it without going all out...... maybe. The funny thing is I will have to do a 2nd loop to finish my workout. Maybe they will still have a water station up by the time I get to my 2nd loop.

Lots of impromptu racing going on!

Mike, glad you had a good, though hot, race.

Steve, keep your eye on the long term prize tomorrow and have fun!

Anthony, yes NM is a great state full of natural beauty and great food! I've been to Hatch, but not too near there this time. Grocery stores carry them back home when they are in season though .

Mitch, gotta look for your TV show! Very cool!

Pam, happy 4th run for you

Samantha, glad you are feeling good in recovery.

Run this morning included a herd of deer! Pretty tame...betting the summer folks feed them. Held my hand out and one of them came within a couple of inches...figured out I had nothing for her...and moved on. Lots of evidence of bear activity overnight around the dumpsters. Altitude is about 7K feet, so very easy to gas out considering I live at 600 feet. Just letting the terrain determine my run/walk strategy and thoroughly enjoying running next to the stream in the cool of the morning. Did some paddleboating today, and even hit the driving range for a brief time. Ha, remembered quicky that golf is just not my thing. Too much scenery, too little focus .

Happy 4th to all!

Going to be 106 here today so I'll likely not be doing an afternoon run . Maybe a later in the evening run, but this afternoon will be time spent appreciateing the magic of central A/C.

Did a good 2700 swim today. I was the only one who showed up for masters swim today, so it was just myself & the coach working out. Realized I had lots of work to do when during one set of 25 yd sprints we were about the same time, but he was only using 1 arm. Rather humbling, I must say .

Will go on an early bike tomorrow, and hopefully get in about 60 miles. My swim coach invivted me to join his bike training group at 6 AM tomorrow for a ride, so I'll likely head out and get in 20 miiles or so before hooking up with them for a group training ride. Should be fun.

Oooooh! Sexey bike porn alert! Looks great, Mitch!!! That shiny white bar tape hurts my eyes!!

I bought new running shoes today, but no picture available. Now using Asics after wearing Saucony the past couple years. Saucony discontinued my old shoe, and the Aasic fits me better. Will take them out for a run tomorrow. Been wearing them around all day today.

Can't believe I have another race next weekend. This all seemed like a great idea in December when I signed up for them all .

Its nearly 9 PM, and its still 90 degrees outside. No run today.

Nice bike Mitch!!!! Congrats! Now get that thing off the trainer and outside.

Mike, you are having some Texas weather there. Funny re: swimming with the "one armed" instructor. You can feel better knowing you could beat pretty much all of us in this group in the pool.

Today was all about elevation gains. Started the morning with a short but steep hike....complete with more deer encounters. Then drove up to 10K + feet (base of Ski Apache) and did another short hike up one of the ski runs. Then a gondola ride up to 11,500....still not high enough so had to hike to the very top of the mountain for the panoramic 360 views. Stopped by the local (only) gym here yesterday and learned that they use bromine in the pool (which I'm allergic to), so decided to bag any thoughts of getting in a swim.

Hope everyone has a great weekend of training and/or racing and/or resting!

The steam bath continues here. Had a fun 42 mile ride this AM. met up w/ a group ride and did about 20 miles with them. Lots of fun, and turns out I knew a few of the folks from either masters swim or the local tri scene. They were riding a 6 mile loop and having each loop get faster. Some crazy cyclists in this bunch. Multiple IM finishers who were just killing it, my swim instructor was leading the group, and he could just take off like nothing I've seen ever in person (Former world champion duathletes can do that I guess ). I peeled off after 3 loops to go do some hills then make my way home. Overall a great bike workout, and a fun one, too.

WIll likely head to the gym later today to use a treadmill for trying out my new shoes. Too hot to run outside.

Family swim time today as well. Will probably go to the local pool (outside) after lunch to try to cool down a bit. I *might* bring some goggles and hit the swim lanes for a bit.

July it turning out to be "feel good about your workouts" month so far. Will try to keep this up.

Wow, nice bike Mitch!!!!

Carol, sounds like you are having fun. Isn't it nice to have the fitness to do all of those things that maybe other people can't do? I've got a younger BIL who would blanche at hiking up a mountain because it would be too much exertion, too hot, too hard, yadda, yadda.

Mike you have having Fl temps too. Stay cool and enjoy the family swim time.

Steve, feeling better and out training?

Rains are still here. Just had a lighter bfast and will wait a few more minutes and then try to get a run in. I don't mind the rain normally but I don't want the lightning (had that the other morning at 5:30am) and I don't like when the rain is so hard that it weighs the shoes down. Hopefully I won't encounter either.

Jared - I know what you mean about wanting to do everything! Did you get that new bike yet or are you still standing on the edge?

Carol - it sounds like you are having a great vacation. I loved all the diversity you are getting in your running. Keeps things more interesting!

Pam - Your written words about what to do in life resonated with me in my core. I really feel paralyzed to make a decision because, like Jared, I want to do everything. Yes, this is life in the 21st century - too many options

Anthony - thanks! I'm still so thrilled about it. Glad you found a tri to sign up for that will help you get moving Waves that large are brutal for sure and if you kept the front crawl the entire time you did amazing! Built confidence is welled earned.

Mitch - When I read you broke your rib and would be out of training for a while it made me sad for you and Jim. HOw's it going? Very nice bike!! Please remind us when your show will be on and what channel. I don't have t.v. but I would love to watch it if at all possible.

Steve - how is recovery week going? Are you feeling recovered? Did you make it to the water station in time?

Mike - you are hanging with a tough crowd, but what I want to point out is you are hanging with them which means you keep up with them to some degree. I had the same problem with my running shoes but I had to switch from Asics to brookes. I hope they work out for you!

Not much to report here. Been taking house/dog/cat/yard siting jobs to make some extra cash. Applied for a job at the hospital. I plan to start getting some walk/running in. Not really sure. This might sound weird but any training seems pointless without a goal and since I'm in recovery mode I'm not sure what I should be doing. Steve can you and anyone else provide some thoughts? I keep wanting to just jump back in to biking running and swimming. I guess just getting in the water and going for a walk is a good place to start.

Happy Saturday!

Mike, looks like you're getting things done even in heat and humidity. Way to go!

Mitch, Wow. Nice ride. Congrats. How has your first rides on her been? Sorry about the rib! Hear ribs take a long time to heal. Hope you're able to get some movement in without much pain. Mend quickly.

Carol, must be beautiful atop that mountain. I admire you for making a point to get that exercise in.

Samantha, No TV? WHaaaa? As for the feeling of "what's the point if there's no goal"...I think its totally normal. Even after some of my little races I don't feel like doing much of anything. Give your Ironman- body that much needed rest. Another goal, be it physical, emotional, or other will make its way to you and you will be motivated to achieve it!.

Been getting some good workouts in. swim/bike brick on Mon, a hot 7mi run on Tues, Got in a short brick (14/4) on Thurs. The run was superb, but know that it was likely due to the short 14 mi ride prior. 12 Mile run yesterday. Did a loop that I usually ride. I actually enjoyed running it more than riding it. I walked for the fist 2 miles (uphill). Then when I crested that hill I started my run-10 miles home. My calves are sore today. Did a ton of pruning on some overgrown fruitless olive trees that aren't truly "fruitless". Messy! Have a mound of prunings about 7" high. I used to have the stamina for that, no so much anymore but I do love outdoor work!

My little town has been celebrating Independence Day weekend with the return of the Hollister Motercycle Rally. Its a tradition that was started in 1947. It was origionally called the Gypsy Tour, which drunken biker dudes reportedly terrorized the town. The story was sensationalized in the Marlin Brando pic "The Wild One" with James Dean. Have you seen it? They are expecting 100k+ people here. Haven't been down yet, although have seen pics that people have posted on FB of thousand of Harleys parked downtown. We may head over later to ck it out. If I can figure out how to post a pic, I will.

Isnt it great that its only Saturday today???

Long day. I won my age group in the bike race 4th overall. 12 miles of uphill 12 miles of downhill 1 mile in town. The guy who won does a 10:30:00 IM and for his workout yesterday he did 6x 10 mile climbs at 5% grade back to back.... seriously. Talk about your hill repeats. I guess he has always been gifted athletically and is pouring it on with the training as well. He is also doing IM Tahoe. I will wave to him as we hit the water as that will be the last time I see him. He and his buddy are in the same tri club 150 miles away. The funny thing is that the buddy's wife's father built the house we live in and she grew up in. She also raced. So after the race I did another 25 miles on the bike and got back in time for the parade. My kids were in the boyscout portion. It was funny because 2 cars (1 muscle car transam) and an old something or other had to be push started, got to love small towns. Was a pleasant 95F ish today not sure it might have gone hotter.

So then I came back finished draining the swimspa and scrubbing the algae off the sides.... that took a while. It is now being refilled, that will also take a while.

Nice bike, now you have to become worthy of it 8). I still think I should just keep my P2 in a glass case and admire it. Will probably never be worthy of it.

Steve - Nice job winning your age group and 4th over-all! I wonder what the people who are the fastest think about in terms of competition because in our world there is always someone faster. Those hill repeats would be the end of me. I hope you end up somewhere you can join in on group stuff.

Lazy day for me. Had a BBQ with friends and watched new floors get installed in the house I live in. Too much fun for one day. I'm starting to consider what it will look like for me to start building more strength, especially in my core. Gotta get a plan set up with some goals that will keep me motivated.

Great Job Steve!!!! 4th overall?! You are back.

Samantha, it's definitely understandable to be listless after a target race. It will be especially so for you because you put in so much work and followed your plan so well. Maybe you should put something small on the books? Or, what I like to do, is find out how much I WANT to do instead of what I HAVE to do. It gives me license to do weird things or things that make me happy. For example, I should have not done much today technically but instead I wanted to stay out there and play.

Went for a route today that I haven't done recently. I forgot how hilly it is. But it's shady and has lots of people and dogs out walking. Enjoyed it. 1 1/12 min neg split on the return trip.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Steve -- congrats on the race. Well done. I feel the same way about my P2. I will never be worthy, but its an awesome machine to ride.

I took my new shoes back since they felt too big. Have a new pair now, just 1/2 size smaller and "EE" wide. will take them out for a run tomorrow. Went out today and it was a struggle. Will get better the more I run, so I'm hanging my hat on that.

Off to NYC on Thursday for a long weekend and the tri next Sunday. We'll head home right after the race, and I'm not looking forward to the 3+ hour ride home afterwards.

that guy is insane, but I wish I could do that, too

Ya he did 6x10 miles uphill with 6x10 miles down hill so 120 miles with 11,000 feet of elevation gain total. He is in the middle of his IM build and he kicked my butt the day after he did that workout. He is quite the machine. And, he is still 30 to 45 minutes too slow to qualify for Kona in his age group....

Hey every body... I finally had some time to read some posts.

Mike - great job on keeping up with the training. Good luck on the upcoming race!

Carol - Sounds like you are enjoying life. It's great to read about what your up to.

Pam - I love running in the rain but only to a certain point. Lighting is one reason to stay home for me! Nice negative split on your run.

Samantha - good luck with your job! I had a hard time as well after my IM. Just listen to your body and you will feel when your ready...

Elana - you have some nice training going on! That motorcycle rally sounds fun! I have an old biker neighbor who was there. Told me some stories!

Steve - Amazing job on your race! Seems like it's all coming back for you nicely. I am thoroughly impressed.

Well - I don't think my ribs are broken. Maybe I dislocated?? Starting to feel better but I could barely move all week. Still not able to run for a bit but I did get on my new Bike today! Went for a ride with Jim through the wine country in Temecula. Had to cut it short because my ribs did hurt when I had to push at all but it was not as bad as I thought..

So my new bike... WOW is all I can say. This thing is absolutely amazing. So fast it feels effortless. If it weren't so much fun to ride I think I would have to place in a glass case next to Steve's P2, that being said I am going to ride the **** out of it!

Regarding my TV show. It will be airing in about 2 weeks. You can Google Ovation TV. (My cable network doesn't carry the channel but most do) My show is called "The Art Of" it's a half hour show about different artistic mediums. Mine of course if "The Art Of" Mixology. When I have an exact date I will let you know. Also will be on WE TV in a show called David Tutera "Unveiled" Some time this year...

I am very impressed with everyone here. Keep it going all!

Pam - You are so right about doing what I want to do. The challenge I still have to overcome is being very drawn to laziness. This may not make sense to people, but my love of sitting and watching t.v./movies still has a significant hold on me. Nothing ever sounds as good; therefore, what I want to do is veg out. That being said, I think/hope all the training over the last two years has changed something in me that I haven't experienced yet because I've been so focused on certain goals. Maybe I'm no longer the person who will choose to sit. I guess I don't know, but I'm afraid to be that person again. Nice negative split! I like new routes because things seem to go faster.

Mike - have fun in NYC. I have a dream to go there one day and just sit on a street somewhere and watch.

Elena - how are you feeling pre-HIM? How many days now?

Mitch - so glad your ribs aren't broken! What a relief. I know what you mean about the new bike thing. When I first got mine it was more expensive than the car I owned, but after I dropped it more times than I want to admit my attitude changed. But definitely a treasure to have such a great bike and so cool to hear your first ride out was stellar! Great info about your show. I ask for reminders because I am so very forgetful even when I really want to see something and I really want to see it. And if I can get it on the internet I'm golden once I know when.

So today I decided to go for a casual bike ride with a friend. The weather here has been so fantastic and I was glad I found the motivation to get out there and do something. I took my mountain bike instead of my tri-bike, so that was very different. I did push myself once to see how fast I could go and my breathing became very labored quickly. I had some interesting twinges in different muscles too. I think we rode about 8 miles. It was beautful out. Then I got a double scoop ice cream in a waffle cone. It was awesome!

back to work tomorrow. Excited to see what happens with the job I applied for. My application is being reviewed by the hiring manager, which is a great sign. And my previous manager now works at the hospital in the department I applied for, so I'm hoping that works to my advantage. I really want to move on and make a little more money. Praying!

So thankful for all of you!
