Hi! Looks like you have all been busy. Nice work on the races ladies

So, looks like our collective goal for next year is an OLY. Oh, Gowd..... thinking about swimming in all those arms, legs, and bodies makes me not want to do it. OK.... you twisted my arm... I'm IN!! I can't believe my summer home with my boys is comming to an end. School starts on the 6th... a week in CO to visit mom then home... back to work and another grad class.

Cathy-- you are awsome! How do you do it all?? When ever I think I'm taking on too much I'll think of you

Have a good time in Asheville this weekend! It will probably be a little cooler than everywhere else.

Heather & I are doing a bike ride tomorrow. It is put on by the local Y to raise funds for their children's literacy program. Heather is doing the 30 mile and I still haven't decided yet between the 45 & 65 mile.

Hope everyone has a good one!

Hi everyone----I also have been reading but not posting as my summer has been crazy with children home.

My training has been going fine---doing LOTS of biking, swimming, and of course as minimal running as possible haha I have worked up to running a little more than none at least 2 x per week.

My next race is tommorow in the am but just a bike race. I signed up for the 30 mile one but may try to do the 45 mile just to say I did it!!!! It has been hotter than hades here between 100-104 degrees so I ride really early.

Next tri is Sept. 9. It is also my goal to complete an OLY next year

Looks like everyone is doing well in here!!!! I cannot wait to train in cooler weather!

Take care

Heather

Melissa, where in CO will you be?

LOL, you ALL are addicted to tri's!  Too funny, but also very cool.  I'm glad to see the commitment!

I went to my hubby's oly today...man is it ever hot.  I'm sure it's hot where you all are as well.  I'm ready for fall!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi everyone---

It was pleasantly cool here this morning during my ride----73 degrees.

I rode with the team captain from swimming---it was great. I should have done the 45 mile route as believe it or not I was not tired after 30...I could have done more I guess my endurance on the bike is getting better. We averaged 17 mph which is pretty good for me. I saw lialog at one point but she did the 45 I am sure she did well she always does!

Hope you all had a good Saturday.

Heather

Heya, I have been reading.... just not posting! Heather's pictures get skinnier and skinnier ;-)

you all are doing great! I had a surgery on my leg so no more tri's this season. I just started running little by little again. The leg is healing and I'm going to have a scar ;-(

You all rock.

Hang in there Z....that starting over process is not fun, but it gives you a chance to start fresh and train easy, and rebuild!

Z, I hope your surgery went okay and hope you're resting.

Kendra, You just reminded me I really need to do a brick next week.  I have become a little complacent in my training lately.

I did a 60 mile (really 50 something) mile ride for MS put on by the Dirt Divas, a mountain bike group that Heather is in.  It was so nice to see her at the last rest stop!  I wanted to give her a hug but didn't want to get my sweat on her. She held my bike while I ate pb&j and drank lemonade.  I was really starting to hurt but it was temporary.  I told my friend that was riding with me as long as it's temporary pain I can take it!  It was fun and they did a great job!

Does anyone have any races this weekend?  Heather & I have the Dash for Divas at White Lake NC in 2 more weeks.

Hope everyone is doing well!

BAH!  Z isn't resting, she's running!  LOL!

Next race for me is 9/16, a sprint.  Then the Philadelphia Marathon 11/18!

You all are looking great!  If/when your season is over, take a short rest and then keep your base by continuing training!  Not much in the way of hard workouts (if at all).  But don't lose everything you have worked so hard for!  In the Triathlete's Training Bible (Friel), they say that you start to lose fitness after 2-3 weeks of inactivity.  So keep moving!

I hear that TEXMON is married to a hero. What an awesome experience for your children to participate in a rescue that ended well. it must have felt good to be in the right place at the right time. Wow!

Jill that is so cool about your hubby!  What a guy!

Is anyone planning any winter races?  Typically you'll find lots of running races over the winter.  Here in CO, we have a duathlon series - running and biking - that is held regardless of weather.  Always interesting.

Hi girls

I rode tonight with a group 23 miles and made it with the FAST crew for most of the ride it was great! It was 82 degrees today! I LOVED the weather.

I do not have any winter plans for races I am having an elective medical procedure (a HAPPY ONE!) that will keep me out for about 6 weeks. So I will be back in the saddle around December 15th.

I plan on trying to train for an OLY next year and I will try to improve on my running!

I am going to Brevard this weekend will do OWS and ride my road bike in the mountains.

Hope you all have a safe and happy holiday---

Heather

I've got a half marathon in Las Vegas the beginning of Dec. That is the only thing secheduled after the sprint on Sept 8th.

My daughter found out that she is expecting a little girl (in December). After two grandsons we are getting a granddaughter. I went out and bought a bunch of girl baby clothes today. It was so much fun.

Heading to Charlotte this weekend, it is a pretty full weekend so I won't be seeing Heather or Mel this time around. I will have to come up another time. Maybe do a race with them next year. What do you say girls?

Have a great Holiday everyone and if you are driving on the road, stay safe.

So I officially joined Heather's camp here. I 've lost 16 pounds since mid July. Some of it due to the stress leading to my surgery and some of it intentionally due to complete change in eating. I drastically decreased mounts of animal protein in my diet, substituting plants protein and fish along with whole grains for it. Apparently it is what I needed. My energy levels is up, I do not feel like collapsing all the time, and the most interesting thing is i do not crave meat. I'm the only girl in my family so my "boys" alway look at me suspiciously when I cook something like buckwheat as a side dish for dinner ;-)

OK, the first week of school is almost over and I finally feel like I am getting caught up on work and life in general. It seems our computer at home works about 50% of the time, so I don't often have time to check in on everyone. However, I am at work now and finally had a chance to check in. We had a great time in Seattle and did lots of OWS in Lake Washington with my wetsuit on. I also got in lots or hill work on my runs.

Heather - That is so awesome about your weight loss! 90 lbs lighter must make people not recognize you! That is so awesome, so where are the before and after photos? I finally figured out how to downsize photos and put a few in my album, but I will have to work on finding a good before and after. I have lost just over 20 lbs and gone down 2 sized in clothes. It is so much fun to shop now! (And a little dangerous on my pocketbook!)

Kendra - Congrats to you and your daughter, there just is no way around it...shopping for little girls is just more fun!!! Thanks for the congrats on my husband's rescue mission. It was quite eventful. I was down the beach a little way and only finally went over to find him after the rescue helicopter was above, the fire truck waiting in the parking lot, the Police boat and Coast guard boats were rushing to the scene. My five year old daughter stayed really calm through the whole thing and now refers to the incident as "remember when we saved that lady's life?" as if it was a regular day occurence. Good luck on your sprint on the 8th!

Cathy - I have been reading your logs, hope the ghosts are all gone now! Have a great time camping. I wish it was cool enough to go camping here.

Mel - Great job on your biking! Keep up the good work. Maybe you could take a photo of Heather at your next tri together so we could all at least see the "after" photo!

Z- congrats on your weight loss as well! Hope your recovery is going well.

One last thing...last night I was running on the Treadmill and my right knee started to hurt a little while I was running, but I pushed on. Then when I got off, I thought I might not be able to walk. I had a pain that shot through my leg and sent me to the floor. I stretched REALLY well and it felt better by the time I went home. They it started to hurt again during the night and today I cannot straighten it all the way, it is fine if my leg is bent, but walking on it is a little tough. I have never had ANY knee problems and don't know what caused it or what to do. Two additional factors are that I was wearing a different pair of running shoes (I wore my old Mizunos that I haven't worn since June) and I did not stretch before at all. However, I don't stretch every time before running. What is up? Cathy, any thoughts?? Anyone else have this type of issue?

Okay girls click on my album and you can see the before pics and the current pics from July 2007. UGHHHH I hate looking at the picture!

Thanks for all of the compliments about the weight loss....it has been a journey, but a GREAT one!!!! I still have about 20 lbs to go to be at my ideal weight. I was at 165 and 14 BMI in college when I swam 3 hours a day----not sure if I will get there but I am working on it.

I feel WAY younger and have ALOT of energy all the time. And you are right many people who have not seen me in a while do not recognize me--it is quite funny sometimes. I am learning how to take compliments as I have a hard time with body image as it is!!!!

I still feel HUGE next to most of the women I train with who weigh in at 100-130 and are pretty tall! But that is okay I have gained ALOT of self confidence in this process.

You all are doing great with your training and continue to inspire me.

Heather - I totally hear you on the whole body image thing! I am 5'10" and have lost 20 lbs to get down to around 160. My ideal weight would probably be about 10 lbs lighter, but I am pretty comfortable with where I am. During college, I ballooned up to just over 200 and have had weight and body issues since 5th grade. I am just trying to find a balance! I am headed to go check out your before and after photos!
