tahrens - 2008-07-28 9:52 AM That's awesome Tony.  Top AG placer -wow I am so jealous. Can't wait to read the race report. If you were both in the top 15 to start, you guys must have some great swim times.  How did your wife enjoy the race?

Thanks, helps that it is a smaller event, lots of mtn bikes but hey I will take what I can get Laughing.  Still waiting to see official results.

She had a great time also, I think she took 20 mins off her time from last year.  I kept seeing her on the run and was worried she was going to run me down.  Good motivation, we are both pretty competetive at every sport we have ever played together.

ITts great to hear your wife tri's with you also. Nice of her to give you the incentive to run a little faster. I wish my wife and/or family was into triathlons so I could train and race with them. Actually I would be happy if any of them came to the races and cheered me on. However I will not quit for lack of cheerleader I have enough of them here with all of you

Don't sell yourself short.  I'll trade places with you anytime. Top AG finish is one of my goals (yet to be achieved............

I agree it is nice to have a sport you can share with your wife. My husband was my partner for cheerleading,  (no guy cheerleader jokes) but we both agree there had to be a better sport for us to do together. It is amazing how old your body feels when you are stacking them on top of each other.  Wait, that sounded kinky????

Anyway, tell your wife we are supporting her too.  I am anxiously awaiting the day she beats you in a race (no offense). It empowers women everywhere!!!!

Oh my god!  I don't even know what to say!  I was trying to be good and bring this forum back to a respectable level, but you sure blew that out of the water!

Funny story. My husband's father was first embarrassed to tell his friends that his son was a cheerleader, until Doug sent him photos of the hot tub parties that occurred during road trips.  His dad quickly changed his tune and was the proudest papa around.

She is the one that got me into them.  She started last year and is going to be doing her first marathon in October.

We don't get to train together much, one of us stays with the kids while the other trains.  LOL, we do get a baby sitter sometimes not to go to a movie but so we can go and run or ride together.

We are both doing the nations Tri on relay teams and keep joking back and forth about betting on whose team is going to win.

I will leave the cheer queer jokes alone...  I mean really who would really want to stick there hand on a girls tush for hours on end, when you could be nearly blacked out from the stands!  It is funny, I remember my wife would always find me in the stadium on game day... After every game I would hear: "Geez Birdy (my nickname) you were pretty wasted today huh?"  My response: YEP!  Oh college!!! Those were the days.....

Now on to a more important subject!!!  Dale that rocks!  Please tell your wife congrats from the BT crew!  Good for both of you!  I am with you on sticking around for your reward!  Last week I thought I was second and that would have earned me a ribbon, and 1st was a case of WINE!  I didn't stick around, and missed out on a case of WINE!  I won't make that mistake again (if I ever get that chance!)...... HOWEVER, Pat yourself, and your wife on the back (unless you are a cheerleader guy....!).  Great job, and good luck this weekend, you know you are going to drop the hammer again this week!

I have my first sprint tri this weekend. I'm a little nrevous about it as I have not done these distances in a race before. 750 m swim 20K bike and 5 k run. I think I have a wow in my back tire so am going to take it into the shop today for them to have a look at. I'm sure I can feel something off with the wheel when I am riding, almost like a flat spot.. Maybe I'm just feeling things that aren't there.

Tracy you should be teaching in Canada. The teachers salaries up here are pretty good. Especially once you have tenure and have been at it a few years.

Not sure how to describe it exactly. It's almost like a wobble but just in one spot. The term actully refers more to lumber when a board has a twist or bend to it it is sometimes referred to as a wow. ( Maybe it stands for "Way Out of Whack)

Me too!  My GPA was a little better, but I was there long enough to be a doctor.

Since modesty is apparently optional with this group, funny story from my run this morning.  I usually run w/ my shuffle, which I have set to load randomly from my iTunes library so I don't know what's on it until I'm running.  Well this morning, I'm about a mile from home and fighting back my body's urge to purge itself of the weekend's debauchery of beer, pizza, ribs and a little ice cream to top it off, when what song comes on?  Nothing other than Johnny Cash's "Ring of Fire" - the irony was not lost on me.

I made it home without

From the look on the spectators faces it looks like this guy has given into the urge to purge or they were all waing for it.
No a great picture to view when eating lunch.

That picture is pretty bad Matt.  That reminds me, I ran the Turkey Trot 5 miler a few years ago and I ran up on a lady that did the same thing to herself.  I must have run a sub 5 minute clip to get past her.  This was a "fun run" so I couldn't figure out what she was doing still running the course with a load in her pants.

Well the official results are up.

Slower than 1st place in my AG by 7 mins and slower than 1st place OA by 17mins, but 2nd place in M35-39 out of 20.

Looking at last years it seems a few of the faster people opted out this year, their loss my gain  Laughing

My wife finished 6th out of 26 so pretty darn good also.  She was only 4.30 off the lead person, so definitely podium finish next year.

Once he puts the splits up I will finish my RR.

Good luck Stevo, give 'em hell.  I bet the cop that wrote that ticket still had donut residue on his hands.

If you want to try the suit out, I'm planning an OWS at Padden tomorrow assuming you're not incarcerated for contempt
