Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Last night's climbing class was something else. Oooof. My legs are still sore today. I've got a speed workout on tap for tonight. And 3500 yards in the pool tomorrow night (including 6 x 400's). I'm going nuts. My coach keeps giving us our workouts in yards and we recently changed to a meter pool. I can't do the conversion in my brain very well. Saturday is a 9 mile run... And then Sunday we're turning into our rest day and our "big brick" in training will be this Monday...a 60 mile ride with a 45 minute run at 10k race pace (I'm gunna die). Did you guys know I'm going to camp next week!?!? :D YAY! It's going to kick.my.bootay. I'm just hoping for the confidence boost I'm looking for on the Iron Cross bike course. I love to climb hills...I love to climb hills...I love to climb hills... Mmmm...nope...still haven't convinced myself of this! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey Jayhawk, thanks for the info on Nair for doooods. Now, with the neighborhood pool opening for the 1st time this weekend, do I have the kahunas to do the Nair thing for the 1st time for Monday's tri? Yes, "What would the neighbors think?" Hahahha! I ran it by ye olde spouse and she said, "Do you REALLY have to do that?" (Crap!) Any other guys out there received any flak about shaving for the first time? |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My sister of all people gave me the most grief. My fiancee (then only the girlfriend) just rolled her eyes and said, "If you do it, keep doing it, I don't want a prickly boyfriend." I was in the break room at work one day during lunch, and some people were actually talking about some guy they knew that rode bikes. I heard, "He's one of those weird biker guys that shaves his legs." So I threw my leg up on the table and pulled the pants leg up. "So am I!" "Want to see my armpits, too?" |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Looks like you middlers aren't slowing down. Great training! Who's racing this weekend? (I can't wait to ask this next week and answer with "ME!" |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good news and bad news. The bad first: Heavy rains are coming and outdoor riding is shot, so is running probably. The good: Heavy rains are on the way so I don't have to mow the grass. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ok. I need a pep talk. I really...really...REALLY don't want to go to my running intervals class tonight. I'm exhausted. Super irritable (read as: pms-y). I'm getting a headache. And I feel like I could eat a horse. I haven't missed any of my runs this month and I have full faith I'll hit my goal. The only other workout I've missed this month was 1 long ride because of weather. Do I ditch and actually have an evening to relax? Or do I HTFU and just go. I'm looking at something along the lines of 3 x 1600 (1st at 8k pace, 2nd at 5k pace, 3rd 10-15 faster than 5k pace). ...in addition to some accelerations and 2 x 400 at 10k race pace. I've been on such a great roll the past few weeks... But right now, I'm just beyond exhausted. What do my fellow middlers suggest? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Wow Barb, I'm tired just thinking about your workouts. I thought I'd do my part to put the East Coasters in their place. I did my first brick of the week (finally) and put in 50 crunches just for fun! Twelve mile bike, 4 mile run. AND I did a swim at noon, too. Nanna nanna boo boo, East Coast. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() My training blog today = I'm freaking exhausted. Strength this morning, 7 hours at the office, bricked a short bike/run, then more run to get the 46 mins in. Mowed, weedeated. Did part of the neighbor's yard. Bill!! Got any of that rain!??!?!?!? 5:00 will come early for tomorrow's short swim. I have a sprint tri on Monday. This lady down the street is probably my age and she is doing the sprint on Monday as well. She is extremely fit. She pulls up to me while I'm running, in her ragtop bimmer, "Shouldn't you be slowing down for Monday?" We chit chatted while I was running and her swim time is the same as mine. (i.e. we may be starting together!) Didnt have the heat to tell her I still have a swim, 77 minute run, 2.5 hours on the bike and a short strength to do before Monday. Our 11 year old said, "Dad, you're not going to let her beat you are you?" |

![]() | ![]() Well, with my swim today, I'm 100% on my swimming. I really though I'd not get to the pool as much to get the miles in on the bike (my bike goal is 2x last month's bike distance). Tomorrow, I'm planning to ride to work and get a run in on the way there. This will put me needing 2 rides and 2 runs for next week, a needed recovery week for me.
Let's get a solid weekend middlers and finish strong next week. |

Ooooohhh... I'm glad I'm not there. That would be tooooo tempting. It came down to beer or Mexican food as the vice to cut out so I could drop pounds during my Oly training. Mexican food it was. I just couldn't give up my pale ales and Turbodog. It's almost the end of May and I haven't had any fried food, dark liquors, mexican food, or candy bars. The second I finish my Oly I am heading straight to the tuckced away place on the water where they make the BEST double bacon cheesburgers and I'm getting a dozen chicken wings on the side. We would NEVER!!!) or growing addicted to chlorine. Can't remember which came first. And speaking of chlorine, I better hit the hay so I can actually get up and soak in it Sounds like a much needed rest, Barb. Make the intervals up, though. They are MISERABLE, but they work wonders |
