Or maybe it's just me.... Me!!! I am sick to boot. Didn't make my 100 mile ride yesterday. Hoping to get enough rest while still getting some training in so I can do a long trainer ride on Friday (bike is in the shop for the race tune up and I don't get it back until Saturday). |

I am kinda beat from this weekend and I can do my swim tomorrow am and my run in the PM since it finally turned "cool" here and will only be in the upper 80's this week! |

One more week of intensity, a monster weekend, then on to "taper." |

Master 1222 Lafayette, IN | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread So, is the guest banquet a must see? I guess I get in as part of my entry fee, but to have my wife, son, and his girlfriend come would cost $90 right? Is it worth it? Should I come alone and let them do their own thing for dinner and meet up after? What do most of you do? Thanks. |

Only suprise were the two muskrats swimming with us close to shore. I had absolutely no ideas those critters would be in Monona. They'll be in for a shock Saturday! |

Some parts are rather motivating, the dinner is nothing to write home about but overall pretty cool to see. Heck at this point what's another $90 if the funds aren't a huge issue its worth a onetime see for family. |

True the $90 is not huge considering I am using motel points for my lodging, but I just had my roof replaced! Aaah, hard come, easy go I guess. I'll ask the family. I will probably end up buying them tickets. |

If it is your first it is probably worth it to bring the family. It is a pretty cool experience and can be motivational. I'm bringing my wife with me, she always has fun and enjoy's them. |

I got the cold shoulder from Rutabaga and Wingra boathouse today. How were the water temps compared to Sunday with the cold front that has moved in. The temps in Monona were beautiful this morning - definitely below 78, possibly 76ish. Sucks about the cold shoulder from those two places (though I don't know what you mean). Sorry can't help you experience with another place - though the Hoofers club at the Union on Lake Mendota rents boats of some type. And, I thought there was a place at James Madison Park downtown on Mendota that rents. There are some people that swim along the shore between the Union and Tenney Park. |

Water temps were even cooler than Sunday, very comfortable. It was overcast so I think that also helped eliminate any overheating too. According to the USGS website it was 75F. I swim with Jessica Laufenberg from SBR Coaching. She brings her own kayak. She also holds class there several times a week if you're interested--M, R 5:45pm, W and F at 5:30am . At least a dozen people are in class. She might let you do a drop in. If you want her contact info let me know. |

Regular 109 Madison, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Ironman Wisconsin : Official Thread More loose gravel on the course just off of 69 coming out of Verona. Not a huge deal but just so you all are aware. The loose gravel after Mount Horeb is packing down ok, not perfect but safer. Some potholes have been fixed along the way. I am wondering if Verona will fix the roads where they chopped them up. I did last year for my parents and I and we got there about 30 minutes after it started and there were no tables left. We had to sit on the floor. The food wasn't very good and not very temperature appropriate. I would have preferred to use the money for a nice dinner with them than do that again and in 2011 when I try again, we will be going out instead of doing that. |

Is anyone else planning to do this ride Saturday morning? I'm looking to leave btw 7-8am. This will be my first ride of the course and would like to tag along with a small group to learn the nuances if you will. Let me know. Best of luck to everyone these last couple weeks. |
