Hi Ghoulies.....got a private message from one you lovely ghoulies today and while responding wanted to stop by and say hi!!!

HI!

Im sorry I have not been around and I will come back ~ I PROMISE!!....just not quite ready yet!

I found out in March after just returning from a 3 month visit trying to get my dads health issues in order.....that my mom had a VERY aggressive cancer so I flew back. I spent another three months there and just returned home. Happy to report that mom is about half way thru with her chemo and is doing well! but while there as if this was not enough news....I found out my sisters husband had ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease) and has only 5 or so years to live. This was a HUGE blow to me! he is only late 50's and can not believe what he is dealing with! Please keep him (john) and my mom (Jo Jo) in your prayers.....

Hope you are all doing well! I will eventually come back and try to do my best to catch up....if one of you want to send me an occasional email with a summary of activities...I would love to stay in the loop! I miss you alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll....and lord knows I need to have you in my life more then ever, but Im just not able to find the time to get online for the coming weeks.....so til then....ya'll take care and know that my thoughts are with each and every one of ya!

wgraves7582 - 2010-06-09 9:31 PM Alright Ghoulies - we are dried out, fed, and lightening free.

Watching a little hockey, blogging, and updating stuff.

Time for a nap - about 9 hours or so.

Tomorrow is a rest day and I am glad - my legs were not themselves today and we have 100 or so on Friday so I need to be on the ball for that.  Because Saturday we do about 85 or so I believe.  That is going to hurt!

Have a great night and I will check in tomorrow at some point!

Bill - I wish you lots of rest and good food today, and fresh legs tomorrow!

ironannekidd - 2010-06-09 5:56 AM I'm going to tell you one of the best parts about summer Ghoulies!

My SIL is a teacher's aid, so she has summer's off. She usually comes to my house 1 day a week to watch my kids, to give my MIL a break. While she is there she cleans my house. She can get my kids to do more in an hour than I can get them to do in a day. She has always told me that this is because she is the aunt and I am the mom. Ok.

Anyway, I got home last night and my house was clean. My kids had cleaned their rooms, they cleaned out their closets, too. They started working on cleaning out what we call the toy room. It's a small room that has a couple of shelves in and where we keep all the toys. Most of the toys are little kid toys, I don't have little kids anymore. We are going to clean that out, put a desk or two in there and a computer and that will be where homework is done next school year. Having 1 kid do homework at the dining room table while the other watches TV in the living room was not a good situation.

So here's to a clean house for the next 8 weeks Ghoulies!

ohhhh Can she come to my house next? I can't seem to get my kids to clean up either....and I don't have a magic cleaning aunt for my kids!

I actually have 2 magic cleaning SIL's in my family. I'll send one right over!

kcarroll - 2010-06-08 2:27 PM Caution: rant warning.

This morning I was a few minutes late to masters swim, so I stayed late to finish the workout (at least the part I could do in an hour).  By the time I got to the locker room, the rush was over and it was absolutely empty.  I was almost finished getting dressed and this petite woman comes in and starts pushing my stuff on the bench in front of my locker out of her way......and starts putting her stuff in the locker next to me. There is a WHOLE FREAKING EMPTY locker room, full of empty lockers and she is pushing my stuff out of her way.  Now, if she were older I would have given her a break....always using the same locker so she doesn't forget where her stuff is, or whatever.  But this woman was my age.  I told her if she could just wait a minute I would be finished packing up and be out of her way.  Either she was deaf or didn't speak English (either was a possibility) because she just kept on going.   Pretty bold as I had at least 10 inches and 50 lbs on her.  Grrrrrr.  Space Invaders.

I will never understand that. I've had similiar experiences in the locker room. My favorites are when moms bring their boys who are too old to be in the women's locker room in, or even better yet, bring them to the adult only locker room. I got in an argument one night with a woman who had her 3 kids, 2 of them boys who were maybe around 8 and 10 into the adult locker room. She told me it was ok because they were with her. I told her it was not ok because they weren't 18. I'd be happy to accompany her to the lobby so we could discuss it with the Y staff.

Want me to rough her up for you? I could take her!

I've been there! As the staff! Just finished teaching and showering so I was not in staff clothes but the woman had her 2 girls in the LR and I said to her "just for future reference the girls are not allowed in here unless they are 18" she informed me that yes they can it says for members and they are members! I kindly informed her the lr was for adult members only, she then said that she was an adult member so her girls were allowed in there, after I tried again to inform her of the rules she looks at me and says well your not staff you can't tell me what to do! When I very nicely told her that I was staff she asked where my name tag was! I told her my shift just ended and I was heading out...she then told me I shouldn't tell her what to do if I wasn't punched in! Then proceeded to go to the front desk and complain that I was rude to her!

Um... I don't even know what to say to this. If you'd have been punched in, then it would have been well you don't work the front desk or something. I don't think she was ever going to admit SHE WAS IN THE WRONG! Which she was.

Did anything come of her complaint that you were being rude?

ironannekidd - 2010-06-05 10:44 AM This has not been a good week for me on my bike. Wednesday's ride was shortened by about 10 miles because of mechanical issues.

Today's ride was shortened by about 30 miles because of injury. I was about 8.83 miles into a ride I was hoping to get near 40 miles on. It was early in the ride, my legs felt good, so I tried to push it on a hill, this was about the 6th or 7th hill of the morning and after this things would have flattened out a bit. I was pushing it in a gear that made me get out of the saddle and I just didn't have enough in me.

I started really wobbling the bike back and forth, and before I knew it I was going down. I didn't want to hit with my feet still clipped in, so somehow I managed to get them out, so technically I didn't fall. I did tear up my ankle, and twinge it a bit. Here's a pic of right afterward. By the time I got home the whole top of my sock was soaked in blood. They were brand new socks, too. I love a good pair of crisp white socks, it's one of my favorite things. Now I lost that pair.

I walked about 1.2 miles before my ride came. I was only about 2.5 miles from home because of the loop I do. So I could have walked the rest of the way, it just would have taken me a while and it was starting to rain.

ewwww hope it is better!

ironannekidd - 2010-06-03 5:57 AM Good morning Ghoulies!

This is only my second day of work this week and it's Thursday. I could get used to a 3 day work week!

I think a 3 day work week should be a law.  Why should we have to work more days than we can go play?

EXACTLY!

Everyone go write your congressman!!!

Done.  I'm on a 3 day plan this week as well.  I leave tomorrow morning for a reunion in Kansas City. It is a group from the company I worked for when I got out of grad school.  Tailgating at Royals Stadium on Friday night (old company tradition.  the founder owned the Royals) and then a casual dinner on Saturday.  In between, visiting people I haven't seen since I lived there eons ago.  Should be lots of fun.

I was there on Thursday!(well the day you posted this!) Took the kids to oceans of fun before going to Warsaw for a wedding!

Thanks. I think 3 of the 7 holes in my ankle have a bit of infection so I've been washing it out with antibacterial soap in the shower then using bacatracin and covering it during the day.

Trap shooting is awesome!

The first time I did it was at a picnic with all the men on my husband's side of the family. They all had their 12 and 20 gauges. My nephew gave me a single shot 410. I hit 7 out of 8 clay birds. That was better than any of the guys.

I just calculated the percent grade for my July run/race.
for each 1/2 mile in percents: 8.5, 6.3, 7.5, 1, 1, 1, 10.6, 7.5, 8,0, 9.0

I am going to have to drastically increase my hill running. I have been doing 3-5 percent.

WOW! I am not ready.
