Champion 8903 | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread I also included my Excel file as an attachment. If there are any corrections or additions, or I have your name incorrect, just say so and I'll fix it. I sorted it by gender and then bib number (age grouping). I'll try to look for as many of you as I can on race day, but it's such a crap shoot that I can't promise much. I'll get as many pictures as I can if I can spot you. Or if you happen to see me, give a yell! I'm 63 years old, I've got a shaved head and both arms are loaded with pinup girl tattoos. Pretty recent photo:

Champion 8903 | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread Got it....thanks for the updates! It'll be a nightmare trying to spot everyone, but with some large digital capacity in my camera and lots of batteries, I'll just take thousands of shots and weed through them for any BT-ers. Last year I was fairly lucky at got shots of at least 15 of you....hoping for better luck this year. I'll try and be on the open flat dirt section of the run course, after it leaves transition and before the first aid station, I think it's just a couple miles out.

Champion 8903 | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread Got it...thanks Brittany! That should be easy to spot, I'll be looking for you. BTW, last year I stationed myself on the bike course, just as you leave town and the crowds start thinning out. There is a median section to the road and most times I found it convenient to stand on the median as I could catch riders coming both ways. I hope to set the camera up on a tripod as well, so if you see me when you go by, give a wave and a yell. Here's the latest update:

Master 1882 Chandler, Arizona | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread I did a 2.5 OWS today and got a huge confidence boost after finishing in 1:06. That was the first time I've covered the distance straight without stopping. All my other long swim sets have been broken up by 1K or 2K with :30RI's. I'm hoping that I can shave a couple of minutes off with a few thousand feet to follow. After the swim my team-mates and I rode just over 50 miles on the course. Coming down the Beeline was super fast but we had a pretty strong headwind going back up.Other than that, conditions were perfect. Let's hope we're that luck next weekend.

Extreme Veteran 610 San Francisco CA | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread I was supposed to ride 35 today but I got on the bike and noticed in the first mile that one of my spokes was broken. My wheel was a bit damaged in a crash back in June and it's been out of true a few times since then so my guy at our LBS said he was doubtful that it would hold if they fixed it. Ended up springing for a whole new wheel set that is a lot lighter and more aero than my current set. Not happy about the $$ for the new wheel set but happy it happened now rather than next Sunday! |

Nice! Sounds like you had a good speedy swim pace. You'll definitely benefit from catching a draft if you can hook up with a group in your pace range. I hope the bike conditions are better than they were last year with those gusty winds and hard rain squalls. Let's cross our fingers that you'll have perfect conditions! |
