Hey everyone!!

Spring Break's coming to an end for me but we've had a great week.  I beat all the boys in mini golf today and got some awesome sanuk flip flops that are made of a yoga mat.  They are like heaven for my feet!  Got in a workout this morning and tomorrow should be my last run while we're here.  James and I are going to go for a helicopter ride and out to dinner.  Sunday we have a 5 hour drive in the rain back to Clemson.

TriAya - 2011-03-25 11:20 AM so how's everyone in crusherville?it's the regular zoo drama over at my place. how is it that there's never a dull day even when i'm mostly in bed and nothing is happening? sheesh ...managed a 16-minute brisk walk today, not yesterday's waddle, so i'm happy with that.

Glad you're feeling a little better... any news on your cat coming back??

Chiropodist visit complete! Here's an excerpt from my log:

Today I had my appointment with the Chiropodist to try and sort out the foot issues I've been having. Results: 1-pain posterior and inferior to medial maleolus is posterior tibialis tendinitis (just as I suspected). 2-pain anterior to lateral maleolus of left foot is inflammation of the subtalar joint. 3 - pain in 5th metatarsal area of right foot is due to repeated striking of the outside of my foot on the ground, I was told I have crooked feet.

I was fitted for custom orthotics, advised to do ice massages over the posterior tibialis regularly, take naproxin 2x daily for the next 2-3 week to reduce inflammation, and reduce my weekly running distances by half.

How am I going to prepare for a half marathon (May 22 is approaching quickly) with an allowance of about 10km per week...

Happy to be dealing with the issue and I hope the orthotics help!!

Glad you got an official diagnosis.  I hope the orthotics help.  And I second whoever said aqua jogging.  I know someone who couldnt run for about 6 weeks before her HIM and aqua jogging really helped her out with the running.

I'm having a lonely weekend too but it will be busy. Well, my wife is out of town but just overnight and I definitely won't be by myself. Tonight I have the teen girls basketball finals. Tomorrow I have the last of the teen boys' games before they start their playoffs on the 7th. Then a family gathering, pay bills and work on the car.

Reading about everyones races is getting me excited for April when the races will start.

AwooOOOoooOOOOO nope. But I live in hope.

Poor Lisa Labradog is beside herself. Suicide was her Sidekick and she feels as if this is all her fault. Well, she should. 'Twas her cat and she should have been keeping an eye on her!!!

Well, time to head out so I can get the games started. They might not like it if they show up to play and the doors are locked.  Have a good weekend everyone!

Well, not great news but i'm glad it's nothing more serious! Orthotics should help. Make sure you follow break-in instructions to the letter when you get them.

As for your closing question: ==> AQUAJOGGING.

Hmm aquajogging... I was thinking stair stepping. What are everyone's thoughts?

Provided you have some run fitness to begin with (clearly you do), aquajogging or deep-water running is a nearly-identical replacement for running itself. This is not my opinion, or anecdotal, although I've subbed aquajogging to a considerable degree for running in training for several marathons.

There are thousands of stories like mine (anecdotal), but then many high-profile case studies of elite and pro runners and triathletes, and then some really good exercise physiology studies, peer-reviewed and published.

It's what coaches make runners who can't run do.

When you water run do you use a belt or not? I was reading online that it can be done either way. I was thinking... my melons might permit this... I would have to try it out.

Melissa, I think the belt depends on the depth of your pool.

ie....my gym pool is 5 foot deep all across.  In order to aquajog without touching the bottom of the pool I must wear a belt.  (I also have aero boobs so there is no bouyancy factor there)

why oh why can't I have an aero arse??

Yep, Melissa ... sans belt is better, but depending on the water you're working with, may need a belt. Let me see if I can dig up some good links/resources for you ...

Judi, aero arse is no good trying to pump it up a hill. You need junk in your trunk for that. And swim flotation if you have aeroboobs

Today was a bit of a wash, but so be it. In my case better to take it easy and do what I can, building slowly slowly. Surfer piglet St. Jim of the Mountain (the gecko rescuer) pulled up at my house to get me to come to Sundowners and actually got me out of bed, saying I'd feel better if I went. He was right and it was really nice to have a ride, and to look at the sweet shirtless piglets ...

I will take 1 aero torso please! I don't mind my non-aero arse because it's mostly muscle. *clenches butt, and thighs for good measure*

It's always better to get out of the house. Glad you had a good time.

I will check out the waters... I admit, it's been longer than I can remember since I was last in the pool. I'm a bad triathlete!

James and I went on our helicopter ride today.  I was turned towards the window and taking picture and when I turned back to look at James he was holding a ring in his hand.  I was completely shocked!!  Best proposal ever (or at least I think so)  Called my parents after and mom's so excited she's been calling all her friends and telling them the news.  This was the perfect ending to my spring break!
