You have to take care of you. Don't feel bad for that. They knew id you didn't get the hours that you'd go elsewhere. It's there loss.

Morning Ghoulies!

Just a day here. It is supposed to be really pretty today. I did less than nothing yesterday. It was rainy-ish and I felt like I was coming down with a cold. Today is better. Maybe even a swim. Though that is a long way to drive when there is so much here that is calling for my attention.

Good Morning.  Fairly lazy weekend for me.  Walking the dogs and some housework was about it.  Now back into the work week.  Ah well.

I am thinking of stealing some time this week to swim so that makes it easier to NOT go out today. BTW, you sound like a pretty good mother to me.

I try to be a good mom, but I know there are moms out there who think I do a terrible job. I try not to care what they think though. I have seen bad kids, my kids are not bad kids, they just have their bad moments.

The best kids in the world are the ones that have occasional bad moments. The best moms in the world are the ones that love their kids.

I am off to spin and gaze at the yard looking at all the things I need to do out there. I need to train myself to look at the things I have done, not the things left that need doing.

Talk at you later.

Hi...quick drop in.

Big week volume wise and I have my neuro midterm. I'm heading off to the gym to get a run and swim in and then I will be back home studying. Yesterdays run was pretty miserable outside and it isn't that much better outside today...so going onto the treadmill...

My eating has not been as clean as I would like it to be...mini eggs...mini eggs...mini eggs...and mississippi mud pie last night...

Oh I didnt get to 13.5 last night because my brother brought some girl over for dinner...not impressed...ugh...I can't even make it up because I already have enough volume planned this week.

kns57 - 2011-03-17 5:01 PM Oh, another good bit of news.  At our running workshop hree weeks ago we ran a 1/2 mile as hard as we could.  Not being a runner, I was very pitaful.  Last night we had another time trial and ran 1.1 miles.  I improved by 40 seconds.  So i am going in the right direction.

WOOT!

How are your knees feeling?

Knees are improving.  Feeling a lot better today, but then we just did a "rest" week.  Tonight we go for distance againe.  We will see how they are, but I'm not going to push them too hard.

Gouhlies, I need some advice.

I am 17 weeks out from Vineman half ironman. I have been running about 3 miles, one to two times/week. I have been on my bike twice this year (as in twice since January 1st). I have not swum since my accident in January, and while I may be able to start doing some breaststroke this weekend, I will not likely be doing freestyle for at least a few more weeks, maybe a month. I need to start making some hard decisions about whether or not to do the half ironman. I am currently about #115 on the waitlist. It is definitely moving faster now, about 5 to 10 spots per day. I need to decide before I get the email that my name is up for registration, which I anticipate could happen anywhere from 3 to 5 weeks from now. Currently I haveonly paid the $25 waitlist fee, so I'm not out any large amount of money if i decide not to do it. My coach/friend is saying I shouldn't try to do the race. I have been feeling iffy about it from the beginning, I honestly wasn't planning on doing a half this year, but 3 of my friends and workout buddies are doing this race, so I jumped on the bandwagon. What better place to be than in California, surrounded by vineyards and friends, right? I have been mulling it over, and just when I decide, and tell someone I'm going to do it, or not going to do it, I start doubting myself. My hubby and parents don't think I should do it, but will support meif I decide to do it. I haven't even done anything more than a sprint before. So, I have a dilemma. Do I do everything in my power to get ready, knowing that in the past when I do that, I end up injured, or do I sit back and say no, and spend the summer doing shorter races, closer to home, and hopefully join my friends at a half in the next year or two?

AMY.

you're GHOULIGANS have your back whatever you decide.

but i would suggest the latter - spend the summer doing shorter races, closer to home.

the 1/2 will always be there and your friends will too!

you want your first 1/2 to be the best experience possible.  waiting until youre 100% will guarantee that it will be.

just my thoughts.

stacieb

I agree with Stacie.  As much as you want to do your first 1/2 Iron, I would want it to be an awesome experience.

kcarroll - 2011-03-18 9:27 AM Morning Ghouligans. Back from London and wfh today. Hope to get a short run in tonight as I got zero workouts in on my trip. My only exercise was walking up and down the steps to my room on the 7th floor which I did to make up for the lack of any other activity. Had a bit of excitement one night when the ceiling in my bathroom basically collapsed in the middle of the night. Guest in the room above left the water running in the tub and left the room. Idiot. I was sound asleep when it happened. The water had been running down the walls for hours. My room was flooded. I had to scramble to get my stuff and get out of the room into the hall. To say I was not happy is an understatement.

OMG!!!  Now that is a vacation story you will be telling for years.

kcarroll - 2011-03-18 9:36 AM I watched 2 movies on my flight home yesterday. The King's Speech, which I didn't expect to enjoy. I LOVED it.  Then Black Swan which was very disturbing. I had bad dreams last night.

Everyone has told me The Kings Speech is awesome.

Oh yes,  Good Morning Ghoulies!  Happy Saturday!

Yesterday DH and I did make it to the car show.  Enjoyed it and then we went out to dinner.  fun afternoon and evening!

Today we have my granddaughter's 1st birthday.  Should be fun and chaotic with several sides of the family there!  We stopped to see her yesterday for a few minutes so that we could have cuddle time on our own with her.  Yesterday was her actual birthday.

I will also walk the dogs today and hopefully get in a jog.... and grocery store...and laundry...you all know how it goes.... LOL

First birthdays are fun.  The kids have no idea why all the adults are going crazy.

Well hello everyone!

I want you all to know that I am a horrible mother. I had to lecture my kids at lunch about their behavior at church, and I don't even go with the. They were apparently pretty bad though.

My daughter lost computer and TV privileges for the day. My son lost video game and computer privileges for the day. To really punish them then I took them to the park and made them play outside. For 2 kids that didn't want to go to the park there was an awful lot of laughing and giggling. It was just too nice of a day to make them stay in their rooms all day.

Plus if they'd have stayed in the house they'd have driven me nuts! Both have settled down considerably. I do believe I wore them out. I may be old, and falling apart, but I do have endurance.

Be careful.  they might misbehave more if they know that the punishment is going to the park and having fun.  LOL

Good morning Ghoulies!

Chaotic morning at my house this morning. Woke up to pouring down rain. My car was outside of the garage. My husband asked if I put my windows up last night. I told him I didn't remember. He got dressed quick and went out and checked. When he came back in he told me to take towels with me when I went to work. My iPod now has water under the screen. I hope it dries out!!!

It was thundering and lightning while I was in the shower, and I'm not so sure we didn't have hail. It woke the kids up, one was in my bed, the other was calling for any parent that heard her to get to her room FAST! It took awhile to get them settled. I never had breakfast. My hair is flat today.

I did have a good night's sleep though, so that's good.

Wow, rough night and morning.  Hope the ipod dries out.  Stick it in a bucket of rice.

Do you really need to tell them?  Many people moonlight with other jobs, although if all goes the way you want, the old job would become your moonlight job.
