ReginaPhalange72 - 2012-01-06 12:51 PM Kelly - If no one has claimed the small helmet, I'd love to give it a good home.

It is yours.

PM me your address and I'll send it along.

Also, I like the pint glass idea too.  Beer never fails.

honestly i am hooked on sugar.  i love eating and eating sugar (did i mention i love sugar).  i am not looking to lose a lot of weight but a few pounds wouldn't hurt.  i will try training in a fasted state to see if it helps me improve my training/racing.  i guess the reason i feel like i have a drop in energy about 40 mins into run is because i have stuffed carbs down my throat before i started.

question- when you start, do you just train through that low energy feeling for as long as you can?

You need to read this:  http://www.nytimes.com/2011/04/17/magazine/mag-17Sugar-t.html?pagewanted=all

This is a phenomenal article, one of the best i have ever read.  I think EVERYONE should read this and then make their own opinion. After Kelly sent it to me the first time I actually printed it out and re-read it on occasion and have handed it out to friends.

great article!  i am doing the same thing- printing it so i can reread.

Wow, this place has been busy today!

I've been buried in month end close all day, what a week this has been.  I manage a billing department and also have a team that is responsible for colleting certificates of insurance for our customers.  The process used to be handled in the Philippines but was recently insourced.  Which is good, but it's been a very crazy few months hiring and training people to handle the process here.

My one child is really an adult now (21), but we do have 3 dogs that require a lot of attention.  My husband is super supportive, and understanding when I'm gone for hours at a time training.  Work is really the only thing that I have to schedule around.

My favorite time to train is early in the morning before work.  As my run times increase I'll start getting up at 4am to run.  It's just me and the paper guy in the 'hood.

Hey Margot, I think my sister in law works in the corporate SF Wells Fargo building.  I'm not really sure what she does, admin assistant maybe.

That would be great to meet you in July.  We'll have to coordiate that.

Amateur athletes very seldom if ever bonk, that is another Tri myth, the fact of the matter is that we as amateurs for the most part, cannot go hard or long enough to run out of fuel to the point to where our bodies shut down non-vital operating systems to keep us alive, which is a bonk. We may cramp up, we may dehydrate, we may get light headed from over exertion/heating and think we will pass out, many other things, but you will more than 98% likely not bonk.

Missed this one.  They're fast and furious this morning.  Agree x1000000.  We non pros either have poor race planning or fail to realize the amount of training it takes to pull off what it is we are attempting.  I know I've been guilty of both.

Yep. I've done 8 hour, 160 mile rides and never came close to a clinical bonk. Sure I was beat, but there's a big difference. ...and don't get me started on AG'ers "overtraining"!

Please do, i have time to read today, i would like to hear your take.

How about we also get it going on crank length.

i'll show you a crank with some length.  BAM!

gabrelsj - 2012-01-06 11:45 AM what is your temp cutoff for train outdoors in the morning?

running = virtually no temp cutoff, although ice and wind will stop me

bike = >50

That's a bummer, but I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.  Something better is waiting for you.

DDVMM - 2012-01-06 7:27 PM Kelly - do you think the large helmet would be too big for me?

Yeah (and its claimed).  The L/XL size is really a guys size your head would bounce around in it.

For everyone's' info both helmets are claimed.  Crank is still available.

Chin up.  There will be others.  Too bad you don't live in CT, there are a lot of places here that could use some loving ownership.

Carrie's doing the first part of the Goofy challenge today (half marathon today, full marathon tomorrow).  I keep trying to track her but the tracking website is no cooperating.  I'll post an update once I find out how she did.

Good luck Carrie. Put in another hour of yoga/stretching this morning. Then taking advantage of another 47 degree day and getting in another 40+ mile road ride in today. Trying to take advantage as much as I can. Shoulder surgery in 6 days. Blah!!!!

Just got done with a 4 hours trainer ride.  Even though its pretty warm here today its still tough to get outside for that long, I tend to sweat and then freeze because I'm wet.

Almost done watching all of The Tudors on Net Flix.  Any suggestions for what I should watch next? What does everyone like to watch when riding on the trainer (other than Coach Troy)?

We rode outside today, in a slight drizzle.  It was awesome to be outside again, but I agree, you sweat and then get cold.  Still a good ride, but I'm out of shape.

When on the trainer, I started listening to Pandora instead of watching something.  I think because I started using TrainerRoad and have to pay attention to the laptop screen for intervals and such, I don't think I could watch a movie or TV Show.  And I really like to listen to music.  I just discovered Pandora and am loving it.  Linkin Park is a great station for a hard bike workout.

But when I did watch something, it was things like Sex and the City, or a chick flick movie.  Something I really didn't have to think about.  House or Weeds would be good.
