enders_shadow - 2008-04-10 10:28 AM Hey Nibbs! Is it wrong, now that I know I'm # 98 (and rising) on the list, that I feel compelled to keep posting to stay ahead of RunningWoof and Matchman? Yeah, I didn't think so either - I just wanted a Nibbin opinion.

Not wrong at all... I just made the most commented list on BT Blogger and I was all excited about that!!!!

I saw that. I was so proud of you.

Aaaaw thanks! Now I just need to make 'most viewed' and Ive got a clean sweep... might need to do some training for that one

Now... how many more posts to hit #97?

Um, well.... I think that Trixie posted a good picture. I'm sure the BT crowd would be appreciative of a nice Cat picture.

Now what did yuo have in mind?

Me? Nooooo.... I didn't have anything in mind. You could ask in CoJ. I'm sure they'd have LOTS of suggestions. Not necessarily GOOD suggestions.... But I'm sure they'd have LOTS of thoughts, anyway.

So what would I be posting a pic in honour of?

Although Im wondering what to do about this months challeneg.... even if I get back to training Im going to have to take it a lot easier than I was planning!

Don't hurt yourself. I know that you want to train. But we don't like having a sick Cat around.

Um. That didn't sound right somehow.

But, ah... well, you know what I mean.... We don't want you to get injured or sick. We DO want you to be healthy.

enders_shadow - 2008-04-09 8:31 PM More important questions for Nibbs... Is it possible to go through a growth spurt at 35 years old? I am CONSTANTLY hungry. We just got done with dinner an hour ago and I'm starving. Starving. Ready to eat my arm off starving. Since I didn't have a big workout day, the only possible answer I can think of is that I'm growing.
Or pregnant. Wait... Did I just type that out loud? And then hit submit?

I think that's the second time someone suggested it.

Poor Kristen.

Well, it's Nibbs. It's pretty much to be expected that we'll comment on things like that.

She did open herself up with the "growing" comment.

Exactly!

LOL Just because we're paranoid doesn't mean that people aren't talking about us. I think we need to leave more inspires for Cat, so that she can move up in the rankings.

haha I have no idea how far ahead I am of the next person.... I think if it was people that leave the most inspires you would be on the list?

Doc told me I could do the 1/2 mary next weekend. Said it would set me back some on the foot treatment, but it would be okay. Now, the problem is, I haven't been able to train. So, I'll really be in bad shape. But Yeah, I can go out there and walk.

well its not close to 100% but its on the mend - Im pretty sure its muscle given that having kept it warm seems to have made a lot of difference... Im sitting here right now with a hot water bottle on it and popping ibuprofen...

Im hoping I might manage some easy training next week... maybe weights work on machines to make sure i have back support...

Or maybe some light stretching... And abdominal work....???

Strengthening the opposing muscles (ie: abs) can help protect the back.

(Now, if only I ever took my own advice....)

Just to set the record straight...

I am hungry, not pregs. (That condition, sadly, makes me sick as a dog.)

And now I am not even hungry (for a little while) because I ate a big spoonful of peanut butter. It was nummy. Omega-3 Smart Balance PB, extra chunky. Maybe I'll go eat another spoonful.

I've just never been so hungry.

Repeating for all those coming late...I AM JUST HUNGRY. There is no happy news to share.

Artemis - 2008-04-09 8:10 PM Yes. My CT was clear, so there isn't anything worse wrong with me. No hernia on the CT, but that happens a lot. She said I should go see a surgeon, so I have an appointment with one on Tuesday.
That's good. So no appendix or gallbladder stuff. Did she clear you for running? Or do you need to consult the surgeon first?

I actually don't have an appendix or I would have gone to the doctor awhile ago.

She said I could run if I really wanted to, but it will hurt and might make something worse. I don't even want to run right now. It hurts to much.

Can you do something other than run? It would at least keep you in shape - even if it's not running shape.... How are biking and swimming?

That's what I'm doing.  No running, but swimming and biking when I'm not too worn out.

The increase in volume from a HIM to an IM may seem substantial in build weeks but it is not double what you are doing for a HIM - so the question is do you have the time to do one?

What/when is the race that you are looking at? From a HIM you are basically looking at around a 1 month recovery period followed by base building and then into a transition/build phase for the race of anywhere between 12-16 (ish) weeks off the base you have already built...

I will only ever run a marathong if its in a HIM... and the riding you can build over time so I know you have no worries there!

If you seriously want to do it next year I say go for it!

DO I have time for one, yes, that is the question. I love my training. I love the long, hard workouts. I love pushing my body beyond what I ever thought was possible. But...It's not all about me. Well triathlons are, but I still am mom to two very active young kids. My friend/training partner/boss needs me for lessons and lifeguard classes and guard shifts. My family comes first, always. I am trying to decide whether speeding up the plan by a year would be better for me to sort of return to a sort of normal life in 2010. Or if I should "stay the course" and hit those milestones (like my first marathon and first century) before IM training.

Pam, I hear you on the family...they definitely come first...I am doing an HIM this summer, then doing one EVERY summer until my youngest graduates.

My IM plan is for 2015.  Yeah, I know it sounds a little extreme, and I'll be 50, but after talking to my wife and kids, that's theway it's going to be.  Things change, so if it's possible to do it earlier, I'll take it...

As far as moving the IM up a year, and then 'getting' back to family life, I don't think it would work for me...I would just want to continue doing IMs.  It's like marathoning...you know it takes time...you find ways to work the training into your schedule so it doesn't affect family, and once you figure it out, it becomes somewhat addictive.

I figure training for an IM next year with a son in college, a daughter in high school and another son in Middle School just wouldn't be prudent.  I'll stick with HIMs for the next several years...

Remember how I fell on my high-speed stationary bike like 2 months ago? I jammed my finger on the handlebars -- which was preferable to landing on my head, or knocking out several teeth...

But now I'm thinking that I may have actually broken the finger. 'Cause it still hurts, and it's starting to look, um... well, it's not straight. And there's a deformed looking bump on it, and I can't bend the joint well.

So the question is... At this point, can anyone do anything? I really do NOT want to go to a doctor and hear that they need to rebreak it and set it.
