I have completely ignored my bike and I'm sure it's going to beat the crap out of me when I revisit with it! It's times like this when I do not like working 50hrs a week!

What does anyone know about RTS Bikes: http://rtsbikes.3dcartstores.com/

I have managed to get some decent discounts from them and am entertaining the idea of some new wheels, but I'm not sure. I know I'm not FOP on the bike, so i'm not sure if it's worthit.

This is what I'm currently running and I'm really not sure if the minor gains are worth the financial investment: http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/bikes/road/1240/29261/ Xero XGR-1s

I did try a wheelbuilder wheelcover and it won't fit. I attempted to use one built for someone elses bike, but my derailer would scratch the cover, so it was a no go...

Thoughts...

For the price they're charging I'd buy some new HEDS or used Zipps.

Almost all of us baby our race wheels, so its good to buy used.  My HEDs are sitting in some wheel bags and haven't bee touch since September 1st.

Good to know. I do know I can get a decent discount, which is why I'm asking.

Front/Rear 5 spoke: $895/$995

Front/Rear Tri spoke: $795/$845

50mm/85mm clincher: $895/$995

Sadly, I've never heard of them and from some of my reading, it's a lower end carbon, so yea, I'm worried. If I'm dropping that much on wheels, I want something that isnt' going to need replacing anytime soon, that works, and shows me gains.

Good to know.

I'd skip the no name stuff.

If it was my money.  And I wanted new, I'd look at a set of SRAM 80/80 or HED 90 /90 and a disc cover.

THANKS. (I sort of felt I was buying a schwinn touring bike and hoping it would get me through. I really did feel something was wrong) (and if I'm not mistaken, doesn't BT get a discount from Trisports?)

Did 1350 including a 1000 M (1100yd) "TT".  Each winter a guy in the Maryland forum posts a 1000M (1100yd) TT challenge to get people motivated.  Last year I did 1100 yds in 21:40 and tonight I did it in 20:42.  I'm pretty happy with this for two reasons, first I took a minute off my time. Second it was more more a "timed continues swim" instead of a TT.  I wasn't really pushing it and give my race splits from my OLY last year I think I could get down to 20:00 or maybe even in 19:30.  Well... I guess there is only one way to find out!!

 ETA:  The other thing I'm really excited about are my split times.  Very steady : 1:52, 1:53, 1:56, 1:55, 1:57, 1:58, 1:54,1:51, 1:49, 1:50, 1:45

Nice Splits! Looks to me you were anxious getting started, leveled out nicely, and then picked it up at the end. Couldn't have done much better!

1.  Why won't a cover fit?

2.  Get yourself on the list for the FloCycling guys.  I plan on picking up a 90mm front from them.  $300 or so per wheel.  I want clinchers (and don't need a rear since I do have a cover).

3.  If you really want some tubulars why not the recent Planet-X $600 82/101 wheelset sale?  Way, way cheaper than what you were looking at and they are big enough to care about quality products.

-------

On my end, I have manged to do nothing since Monday.  Business trip and knee injury has laid me up.  Gained 5 lbs this week (Business dinners add up!).  I'll drop it back down, but man I hate seeing those numbers (half of that is water weight, I'm sure).

Hopefully the knee is good to go on Saturday morning.  I crushed the guys on the hills last time.  Fully intend on repeating if I can.

1.  Spoke Pattern and Spacing.

2.  FloCycling would be a good option.  Older design/shape and Chinese made but you still get the toroidal rims. The pics and specs do look nice.

3.  Skip the Planet- X wheels.  The shape is based on the old Blackwell Research wheels.  A 100mm wheel could only beat a Zipp 440 wheel at 0-5 degrees yaw.

And I don't see why spoke pattern won't let a cover fit.  Maybe dishing, but not spoke pattern shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Oh, and maybe its me, but I don't see the allure of tubulars.  One of the reasons I'll probably wait on Flocycling - I want clinchers.

Thanks for recommending our products.  We appreciate it.  I just wanted to clarify your reference to an "older design".  We have actually engineered our own shapes from scratch.  Our wheels feature brand new toroidal shapes that are wider than standard toroidal wheels.  Zipp's new Firecrest also has a wider design.

We did a lot of computational fluid dynamics testing to compare a variety of shapes and found out our wider shape was the most aerodynamic.  You can learn all about our design process on our blog at flocycling.blogspot.com.

In reference to our components, we source parts from China, Taiwan, Belgium, and America.

Again, thanks for recommending our products.

All the best,

It's probably dishing. Either way, remember I tried your wheelbuilder cover and no go. I called them about it and they too said that it's likely they don't have one for my wheel. Not sure why, but that's what they claimed.

So, I guess wheels are an option...

I got in a two hour ride this morning with a friend and a fellow BT'er.  I guess it would be called a recovery ride, since I averaged 10 watts below Z2.

We got to see one of our local road races going on.  We also came across a fox hunt which was pretty cool.  Tons of dogs and horses and of course... horse crap.
