Everything felt really good throughout (I asked Shaun if he wanted to do another 40 on the bike and he almost hurt me). Took it easy terrain wise this weekend because my glute muscle has be achy but we'll head back to the Rev 3 course next weekend for some more serious climbing. |

They haven't posted the results but I finished in 2:51 good for 4th in the 40+ clydes. I don't know where to start.. but I know I have work to do if I want to do more of these longer distances. The waves were tough on the swim and I swallowed alot of water. The run was interesting for me. The tide was coming in so I ran a little more than half barefoot and I had a blister on my toe. The worst part is that I had to go to the bathroom from mile two on in the run. I actually ran through the finish to the bathroom. Note to self no corn on the cob the night before a tri. It was a great day and great race but the high surf and the beach run made it tough. I survived! when they post the results Ii'll post them congrats and I will make a note about the corn on the cab for future reference |

Any of you see anything interesting in the wilds while training? |

New Haven, CT | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2011 Part 2 - CLOSED Welp, sitting in the airport waiting for my flight to leave. I definitely got a little dinged up last night. but I did do another run this morning. My running buddies did not appear at the appointed time, so i ran the strip solo - from Ceasars to Mandalay Bay (furthest south major casino) to Circus Circus (furtheest north) , and back to Caesars, probably about 7 miles or so. I was massively hungover so it felt more like a 15 miler. viewing was a little better this morning. back to reality tomorrow. I'll try and post some pictures, but it is such a PITA to post pictures on BT. Couple of highlights: (1) a jersey shore looking couple copulating in the swimmign pool and then, upon completion, being removed... I like how they allowed them to finish, nice touch; (2) friend passed out while sitting on the toilet, his wife was very impressed. I as usually had 1 too many beers and stayed out 1 hour too late. but it was fun, educational and nice to catch up with friends i dont see too often. How do you think my wife would react if when i get home i ask her if she can take the kids somewhere while i sleep? Edited by jsklarz 2011-05-14 11:39 PM |

There's a joke with my husband and all my friends that if I'm out on the roads the squirrels better run and hide. I hit them in my car all the time. I don't try to, but they start to cross the road, panic, can't decide which way to go, and in the decision making, I take them out I guess. They really need to commit and GO! I saw an armadillo the other day riding, which seems odd to me. We have lots of turtles out over the spring and summer. I like to stop and safely put them on the other side of the road. My friends think I'm crazy, but I feel bad for the little guys. Except the mean hissing turtles, no more picking them up. Today I saw a flattened snake. Even dead I'm terrified of them. That's all I can think of, not very exciting. An armadillo in Georgia? |

We drove across the country once and saw them all over Texas, Louisiana & even Alabama. But I've never seem them here. I guess it was only a matter of time before they migrated further east. It's the only one I've seen here, and he was actually road kill. I may not see another one again. Today I saw donkeys & lambs, together in a pasture. The lambs were in need of shearing. I saw a lot of dead squirrels, but it wasn't me! Great day of training, did an OWS, hilly bike, and short run. Felt really good. |

Extreme Veteran 585 Price, UT | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2011 Part 2 - CLOSED I took an easy ride on the single track today with a good friend. I saw nothing but other riders. Came home and stepped off my back deck and went down hard with a torqued ankle. Walked off the ankle pain, but now the knee is killing me. Hopefully a bit of ice and IB will do the trick. I AM racing Saturday. Oh my race just offered an "open" devision for both Oly and sprint. You start at front of each race, but no AG or weight awards if you do it just prizes from a drawing. What is the purpose of that? No I'm not thinking of doing it, just not sure what group of racers that would appeal to. Oh and no USAT ranking either.

That stinks about the spill afterwards, heal up quick! I think usually an Open class is so they can separate the elites from the AG field. |

Bummer, hope tomorrow the knee feeling good. I wonder if they are doing that for people that don't want to get caught up in the mess at the start. Because otherwise, like you say, why??? Seems odd and I'm curious how many will do it. |

I've only been running for 9 mos. and I gave 100% during the race. It was pouring the entire time....about 58 outside. There were 20000 people racing, so there was tons of energy in the crowd (made it really hard to get water at the stops though). I tried to push myself really hard the last 2 miles, but I was soooo spent. My kids did the dash on Saturday. It was super cute! I can't get the pics up here for some reason. They won't paste. Anyone know why? I'm taking another day off tomorrow. My groin is a tad sore (held up fine during the race) and my kneecaps are throbbing. I'm going to spend the day resting and playing with my kids. Hope you all had a productive, fun weekend! |
