ironannekidd - 2011-12-28 6:27 AM I have nothing to do at work, so I'm doing some research. It is cheaper to stay in Key West in September than it is to stay there in January. Sucktastic!
that's because Sept is Hurricane season, and January is snow bird season.

Speaking of gloves ... I gave my dh two new pair for Christmas.  Good thing, because the night before last, someone prowled our driveway and stole his older (favorite) pair from the car.

We live in a generally pretty safe neighborhood, but it seems like Dec/Jan often brings prowls each year.  Of course the gloves are not a big loss and maybe they really needed them, but we could tell that some one tried to get into the locked trailer (car was unlocked).  It creeps me out to think about someone sneaking around our driveway so close to the house!

Wow.  I hope that a needy soul is enjoying those gloves.

kcarroll - 2011-12-29 9:03 AM Morning Ghouls! I have the day off....Yeah! Got in a nice swim and came home to no power. Wtf?...our power company is a disaster. No weather issues here. Just cold. I have a 15 ft ficus tree in the living room that is still dropping leaves from the 8 days without heat last time. I live 35 miles from NYC for heavens sake. Power should not be hit or miss.
Of course, living that close to NYC you more than likely have some of the oldest power system in the states.  They need to upgrade everything.  Remember that emailing the governors office last time got your power back.

kcarroll - 2011-12-29 9:11 AM Btw. Big brouhaha at y this morning. Middle school principal, who also works as a lifeguard was arrested for filming boys in high school locker room. Unbelievable. So very sad and disgusting. He has a daughter at the high school where it happened. I have several friends with kids at the middle school. Heard this before. Well liked. No one saw it coming. Such a nice guy etc etc. Not sure how we get the radar set to spot these guys before this chit happens.
OMG!

Yup, I feel for the family.

Girl Passing on Left - 2011-12-29 8:25 PM new years resolutions?
ha, mine is a continuation of 5 years ago and this past year.  5 years ago it was to live life to the fullest and enjoy every minute of it.  This past year was to lose weight.  I am succeeding on both of those, so we shall continue with them both.

Great goals and congrats on successes!

iowagander - 2011-12-29 1:38 PM Hey gang! I just discovered that BT added the forums to the mobile website. That's great news because my computer's fried. First run of vacation today, so I did a fairly hilly route to punish my laziness. I hope you're all having a great holiday season!
Thank goodness for mobile apps.

morning (here still) ghoulies,

hope all is well in ghoulie land

heading to the outlets with my dd to do a little shopping as if we have not done enough

I need to find something to wear this weekend and my dd is looking for home accessories as she is about to move into a nice newly remodelled home.

heading to a spin class this afternoon with her. She is out running now~ i just had no energy to join her for a hill run...

hope you all have a great day ~ happy new years to all of you!!!!

we will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary on Sunday ~ this year we are going out ~ we usually stay home but since it was a significant year my dd bought us concert tickets and a hotel room out! hope we can stay up til 12 haha

Jules, 30 years is awesome.  And what a nice gift from your dd to celebrate with.  I will hit 30 years in July.  Kind of funny, we were born the same year and married in the same year.  What year was your dd born?  My birth child was in 88.

Good morning!!!

Good Morning, are you at work today?  How has Christmas break been as far as kids at library?  Do they avoid the place?  They are swarming at the YMCA where I work.  I am glad that they have a healthy place to go, but some of them just hang out more than they work out.

It is probably good for me that they are there because I have to set my attitude to be flexible and accepting while I work around the kids hanging about the halls.  Keeps me from getting too set in my ways and cranky!

ironannekidd - 2011-12-29 1:57 PM I bought myself a Keurig today. BJ's had the B60 with the reusable coffee filter, and 36 k-cups for $129. I couldn't pass that up.
I got my hubby one for Christmas.  He is very very happy.  Got a refurbished one on WOOT back in Oct and hid it until Christmas day.  He was really surprised because I kept saying how we didn't really need something like that, so he was really surprised when he opened the box.

Yup, I'm at work.  First day back from the Holidays, so I'm catching up with the village.  The library is usually fairly quiet during the Christmas holidays.  Yeah, we just need to learn to enjoy the kids so that we don't turn into cranky old people.  But there are times...like when I asked to be moved at a restaurant because of a child that was screaming and no one was doing anything to quiet the child.

I am not going to do the Year to Year 5k tomorrow night.  Too wet out and I have been feeling too tired to stay up and run that late and wet.  We are doing a New Year's dinner on Sunday night so I will be busy cooking, cleaning, and such.

However, if it is not too windy, my plan is to run my own 5k during the day on Saturday.

Our New Years plan include what was to be a small gathering at our house.  We are now up to 17 people.  Not so small any longer.  But everyone is to bring food and drink to share, so it will be easy on the host since I have to work tomorrow and will only get home 1 hour before the guests start to arrive.

then on New Years Day we are scheduled to take a motorcycle ride with our Goldwing Club.  I have said that I will go, but the restaurant they have choosen really does not have much for me to eat at all.  It is a set price, with a set menu.  And I bet they use pork or pork fat in all the vegetables.  in other words it is a typical souther style cooking meal which I can't stand.  Oh well...
