On the days I go I do well and feel good, just need to get more consistent. Back to work tomorrow. Will bring my stuff to run after work. awesome plan. |

Member ![]() ![]() | ![]() Got in a 3100 yd swim and 30 minutes on the bike. Didn't want to push my luck with my shin/calf. It's been bothering me a little since the last run. I'm kinda bummed about it now. I've always been able to know when I can push myself without hurting myself, but when it comes to running - I have not freaking clue! The main set today was 4x400, 2x100, 10x50(5 free, 5 back): My times for the set and paces: 400: 100: 50: I'll be away at a conference tomorrow and Saturday so nothing planned. Will start with2's--2 run, 2 swim, 2 bike(trainer/spin). Looking forward to a little more structure in my fitness life. The last 2 weeks have be all over the place and pretty much nothing on here. I think I am almost over it, but ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! is how I feel. My legs are sore. I don't know why. I have been running slow but I am stiff. I haven't been able to do my yoga. Maybe that is why my legs are sore. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I have my 50k race on Monday. So on the good side, I should be well tapered....except for the cold. Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm going to start HIM training the week after next. HIM is in August. Marathon in May. this will be fun having the two mesh into one. I have a couple races prior to marathon in april and may (running). My biggest obstacle right now is my swim. I'm trying to switch to total Imersion training in pool, and it's difficult right now. My second hurdle is the bike. It's winter, I don't bike enough, and there's just not enough time in the week to do it all. hoping that when marathon is over, I can bike more for HIM training and run way less. Go get it Darren. Get back at it Thor. Get well David. Keep it up Kathy. Keep pushing it mindy. Hope all are well. |

I have to point to the sprint training I'm doing 2x a week as a factor. I am running this run in the same times as I did in the beginning of April of last year, and the only thing different is I now swim, and the sprint training. Kevin - that is pretty kick ! Sounds like all the hard work you've put in is finally paying off. Considering the fact that you are running at the same pace you were in April last year - just think how fast you will be in 2 months! Keep it up! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Greetings - Sorry for falling off the earth for the last four days. Like DH, work has been crazy. I work in the admission office at a private school and had a ton of work todo before beginning my break on Friday. To make it worse - the stomach bug made its evil way through my house towards the end of the week. My son was sick -but I was really concerned about my wife. I think this was the sickest she has ever been. I haven't succumbed yet - my hands are raw from having washed them tons of times. With the goal of getting over my soreness, I only worked out three days this week but I stretched for another two. The links that DH gave me have made a huge impact and I thank you for posting them. I felt so good this morning that I rode 20 miles and plan on going for a really light jog tomorrow morning. I'll take it easy, I promise but it feels great getting it back in gear. Finally - weighed in this morning and found out I had a pretty good week. If I don;t drink too many beers while watching Nascar over the course of the next week, I should hit my goal of dropping 41 by my 41st birthday next Saturday. Have a great weekend everybody and thanks for holding me accountable! |

I'm only :32 off of race pace with over 2 months to train. Sprint training is really making a difference. Tomorrow is total imersion training in the pool followed by 5.5 mile run. |

Got to sleep around 12 and then was up bright and early If you get a chance, check them out: http://usparalympics.org/military-and-veteran-programs I know everyone is really busy in there lives, with work, kids, training, and eating/sleeping, but if you ever have some time to give back to the veterans this is a great way. Plus they're incredibly inspiring. Back to training: the wind is insane here today, so I was relegated to the gym stationary bike for 45 min. |

I decided to push it and jogging for a minute for every mile walked. At the end - I was surprised by how good I felt. I'm like you, I've read half the book, really struggling with it, but know that I was going no further with what I was doing, so I'm trying to revamp my stroke, "slow is smooth, smooth is fast". This will be my third day of it tomorrow. still so new at it. |

I had access to a computer but the connection was slow and I just wanted to keep moving. Training? Down the tubes due to lack of planning; got a short swim in on the first day and a few long runs...well one turned into a med run with a long stroll with a smoothie when my sugar levels dropped drastically. New meds. Diet was good and at one point I was 5 lbs lighter! Missed all my tri buddies and anxious to read all your updates! OMG! I have got to move back to a beach side town! Absolutely beautiful! |

So much for 185 by the end of february. I have been trying to lose no more than a pound a week, but am wondering if I'm taking enough fuel in to compensate for the extra mileage. I will make sure to have a second helping of breakfast this morning. We're all getting together with family and having a pot luck breakfast this morning. I swam yesterday. Sometime swimming can be a challenge when you are not seeing as much improvement in it. I did a Sprint workout on the treadmill after. That's where it's at. 1:30 wu. followed by :30 second sprint interval at 11mph, followed by 1:30 at rest pace. repeat 8x. Long run tomorrow. 13.6 miler. Long and slow for me. Have a great and Safe weekend. Who's got a race coming up? How do you feel in regards to fueling? Do you feel under fueled? Maybe your body is working more efficiently than previously and you dropped the extra pounds? Listen to your body and it will help you determine if you need additional fuel or if you are ok. PS...thanks for the inspire...I was just on vacation and spent more time out doors than on a computer. |
