So I went for my torture myotherapy appointment yesterday. He says that after one more appointment this week and one next week I am done. I've been running/riding super easy the last few days. I figure I'll start to rebuild my mileage but keep the pace easy. I gotta get from here (about 3 miles) to 13.1 in 61 days. I'm willing to run as many days a week as needed to get there. Suggestions on a buildup plan?

So chatting with the myotherapist whilst he was torturing me, he told me about how he'd driven in to his garage on Friday with his MTB on the roof rack Yell. He also suggested a great auto body shop should I ever need one Surprised

Haha, my boss did that. Straight out of that insurance commercial hahaha.

About your return. If I were you I would do all of my intensity building on the bike, as it's very low impact and just do lots of very, very easy running, gradually building over the days and weeks.

Do you think I should ramp up the mileage evenly over the next two months or increase slower now and faster later?

Yes, that's kinda my focus right now. I have a couple sprints coming up but I'm more focused on the HM in October.

Well with my Sprint coming up next month I really want to crush my time from last year since it's my one year anniversary into this crazy sport. I've been watching youtube videos all morning on rolling mounts and dismounts. I tried it today in my driveway and it was actually surprisingly easy. I think I'm going to practice the rolling dismount every bike ride between now and my race to get confident in it. What I struggle with the most right now is knowing when to start getting out of my shoe. Don't want to do it too soon but don't want to do it too late and not have enough time.

No kitties for me (yet), but I'm dangerous enough all on my own when it comes to Amazon.

Faris al Sultan. Both Dorothy (Felicia/KansasMom) and I have a big crush on him.

You can buy speedo-style bottoms with a thin fleecy tri pad. They're really nice.

It's worth a try. If I were ever to do an IM warm enough, I'd consider wearing Speedos and having some tri shorts in my Special Needs Bag.

It keeps running through my mind to go old school, but I don't want to scare anyone :)

OK.  Yanti, you have given me the push.  That's how I'm gonna roll next year.  I just think it will be so, so much more comfortable.  And, FTR, I know of Faris.  Oh yes, I know him... that man can wear--or not wear--whatever he wants.

Does anyone else not miss the pad?  I don't use chamois butter (or anything like that) and I don't feel like I need a pad.  I would say maybe I'm not sensitive down there, but, um, I don't think that's it;)

Chris, you in, brotha, or what?

I prefer no padding, too. I don't use any of that crap and my seat is stock (but that's a given, right Wink)

I consider myself pretty coordinated, but I don't think this would go well for me - especially in a race with everyone watching.

I'm not really sure that the little pad that comes with the tri shorts I use really do much good on long rides.  I probably wouldn't notice a difference if it wasn't there.  On the other hand, it doesn't bother me at all -bike or run.

I'm 30 pounds away from even thinking seriously about it. No butter for me, although I do use Anti Monkey Butt on hot days. I think for a sprint it is no biggie, I wore jammers for one last year. I'm not sure I could go much past 20-25 miles without a pad, though. One of the pro women at Rev3 Venice last year wore a one piece swim suit for the whole race. Tiger print for good measure? is in here somewhere.

I've been able to do the maneuver (on and off) for longer than I can remember, but really don't in races. I can't count on there being room to keep moving like that or to have space to strap the shoes once on. Maybe now as elite amateur waves are becoming more common. But then I'd also have to find a pair of tri shoes I like. So far nothing has been as good as the road shoes.

It keeps running through my mind to go old school, but I don't want to scare anyone

I would say maybe I'm not sensitive down there, but, um, I don't think that's it

Chris, you in, brotha, or what?

I'm 30 pounds away from even thinking seriously about it. No butter for me, although I do use Anti Monkey Butt on hot days. I think for a sprint it is no biggie, I wore jammers for one last year. I'm not sure I could go much past 20-25 miles without a pad, though. One of the pro women at Rev3 Venice last year wore a one piece swim suit for the whole race. Tiger print for good measure? is in here somewhere.

Tony the Tiger. She needs a red bandana!

A number of women who've been in ITU do wear the swimsuit the whole way through. Usually ones like this in a non-ITU race will have a strong background over there.

I use tri suits and the ones I've liked best have barely had a pad in them. If the seat fits well then there really shouldn't be much of anything more needed.

I love riding in Speedos or heck ... commando. (Sports bra preferable though)

I forgot looking for her as soon as I saw Jesse Thomas...for fach's sake...the hotness is outta control. Grrrr.

I think I would feel better from a modesty standpoint in a one piece, but I hate having stuff on my belly.  It makes me too hot and just feels bleh.  I just need to swallow my pride and try it.
