Expert 750 Hammond | Subject: RE: BMC Racing Team TDF Challenge Thread southwestmba - 2012-07-07 1:25 PM One week down and I got a great TDF Cycling themed class today to keep me in the spirit! Hard 10 min climb to the finish today, not quite a Cat 1 but not exactly easy. Just got done watching the finish today. Won't spoil the results but that was an amazing climb. Relatively short but just kept getting steeper and steeper then they turn the final corner and it shot up to a 20% grade! A 20% grade at the very end of a 5 hour ride! Those guys are freaks! Just watching them nearly grinding to a halt cause that hill was so steep was something to see! Great camera work and a very entertaining finish. And this isn't even a true mountain stage. All I will say is that this was one of my favorite stages. I am just in awe of the entire thing though. Watching riders get their arms stitched while still riding, watching riders have two crashes, dislocate their shoulder and still come in second place, team cars riding along side riders and getting batteries changed in shifters- I'm just blown away. The level of riding is beyond my comprehension and I'm having a blast getting into it with this challenge. My dd and I have ridden our bikes three days in a row cause she's gotten excited by it all as well. She thinks she's riding for our team also-hehe. She's only 9 and today she rode 7 miles with us and averaged 13.4 mph. She was so proud of riding for team BMC. I am really glad I joined this challenge. Go Team BMC. Dorm- looks like we are giving Gary's team a run for their money. Gonna have to rag him some more- hehe. Kate- are you still riding? Hope you're just too busy to log it in, but not too busy to ride - lol. Looks like everyone else is doing great. Way to go team. Have a great weekend everyone, Shelly |

Extreme Veteran 701 Raleigh, North Carolina | Subject: RE: BMC Racing Team TDF Challenge Thread Still super hot here in NC today ... 103* this afternoon and so I decided to go for a nice easy 1600m swim. Looks like we are right there in the mix with the other teams and our stats. I am right on track and hope all are positioned the same. Looks to be cooler weather for next week so I can hardly wait. |

Subject: RE: BMC Racing Team TDF Challenge Thread I got another 2+ hour ride in today but it was a challenge for sure. Mother Nature threw me some curve balls with deer and snakes in the road and I did not beat the storms. I ended up back home on the trainer for the last hour but I did it! I will be out of town for a few days, leaving tomorrow a.m. and back on Wednesday. No cycling for me while I'm gone. Keep up the good work everyone! |

Master 1686 Royersford, PA | Subject: RE: BMC Racing Team TDF Challenge Thread Hey everyone! Great job so far! I knocked out a 40K TT tonight and felt really good keeping a nice steady high tempo. Will be fun to see the TDF folks crank out a similar distance individual Time Trial of just about the same distance tommorrow (41.6K about 26 miles). Have fun and enjoy the ride! |

Expert 750 Hammond | Subject: RE: BMC Racing Team TDF Challenge Thread Can we just delete Casie from our spreadsheet? She's killing our numbers and I really don't think she's showing up. What do you guys think? Got another ride in with dd. We really are enjoying this challenge. I'm right on track and actually think it's possible I'll have to up my goal. Keep up the awesome riding everyone. Shelly |

Extreme Veteran 701 Raleigh, North Carolina | Subject: RE: BMC Racing Team TDF Challenge Thread Got in 1hr-15mins tonight in the spin studio at my gym. The instructor is an IM who's easily done 15+ IM events. His motto is if you're not working really hard - then why are you here? He laughed when I told him I had an 'about to puke' flash 2/3's of the way thru the session. Casie has been removed from the spreadsheet ... can always add back if this proves to be a mistake. |

Veteran 940 Citrus Heights, CA | Subject: RE: BMC Racing Team TDF Challenge Thread Hey all, I finally added my second session--I took a day of recovery after my first olympic on Sunday...I was a little tired--and that was BEFORE the full day of work! I might drag in the trainer tomorrow for a bit of riding as I am officially too bored to keep 'not working out'! ---and its supposed to hit 104 degrees too, so inside is my only option as far as I am concerned! Either way, I have some more riding planned for this week, no worries! |

Master 1686 Royersford, PA | Subject: RE: BMC Racing Team TDF Challenge Thread Welcome back Casie! Don't worry about how grand your goals are! As long as you reach you personal goals you score max points for the team! I'm pumped up that we have a full team and are nearly half way to our cummulative goals thru stage 10. You all are doing great keep it up!. Rest stage on the tour today but I got another 40K TT in trying to match one of my teammates time at Rev3 Portland from Sunday. I'll take my rest day when I have to fly to Omaha next week! Kgore- Congrats on the Olympic Sunday! Hope you counted that towards your milage! Andy |

Extreme Veteran 701 Raleigh, North Carolina | Subject: RE: BMC Racing Team TDF Challenge Thread Casie ... welcome back!! Your stats are on the spreadsheet and I've updated the cumulative average at the bottom to include your stats. Kate ... congrats on finishing the Oly and hope you included your ride time for this as well in your totals. I got in an hour & half last night with a group ride ... ~25 miles and more to come this week. We're doing great! Right now we've achieved 45% of our goal, so keep pedaling and GO team BMC!! Veteran 286 Brisbane, Australia | Subject: RE: BMC Racing Team TDF Challenge Thread Welcome back Casie. Hi gang. I haven't yet cycled this week, but am aiming to get out tomorrow for at least an hour and do my 30min LT field test for HR zones for the bike. I did my run test earlier in the week, and ran around 300m (just less than 1/4 mile) further in 30min than I did last time, so a great improvement! My HR monitor was screwed so my HR showed z1-2 the entire time (I guarantee it wasn't). I did my 1000m swim TT today and took 40 seconds off last month's time, so again a great improvement. Looks like I am coming into good shape as I head into base 3! Looking forward to hopefully the same gains on the bike. Keep chugging along and Go BMC! |
