Pro 4528 Norwalk, Connecticut | Subject: RE: Patriot Half Triathlon : Official Thread mighty mom - 2012-05-18 8:20 AM I'm in for dinner. When you say Fireside you mean the Fireside Grill in Middleboro? What's the usual time? I'll be staying at home which is about 1 hr away. Also, I will be going down tomorrow for a long brick if anyone wants to meet up. Probably get there for 6:30am.
Yup, the Fireside Grille, the one right at the Round-a-bout. KathyG use to be the one that set up dinner reservations and such, but her mom is not doing to well, so i am not sure of her schedule and if she will be attending the race or not. If anyone locally wants to volunteer, that's cool, if not, i could probably make the reservation once we all settle on a time and number of attendee's. Last year we had everyone that was going post here and we kept a rolling list. We have also done separate checks at dinner, it solves a lot of problems with the bill for a large group. While the server has to do a little extra work, everyone pays for what they get. I am sure we have all gotten stuck with a check after everyone has put in what they thought they owed and come up short. Separate checks solves that problem. Obviously if you are with 3-4 peeps, and want to get one for your group, that's cool too, i think you all know where i am coming from. So let the RSVP'ing begin, please copy my following post and add your name. Really looking forward to meeting you all and seeing old friends!!!

I'm glad I had a chance to take in the scenery before race day. There was some construction/dirt road on Mason Rd. Fingers crossed it'll be repaved by race day but in MA who knows. |

Also heard lots of turns. |

Also heard lots of turns. Overall its a pretty flat course but never a constant flat for long (ie lots of gear shifting). Definitely more turns than a simple out and back course but I think the cue sheet makes it seem like there are many more turns than there really are. |

And i now realize that i keep listing the date as the 14th, when it is the 15th, i have a mental block in regard to those dates this year, probably something to do with a Saturday race. |

Extreme Veteran 596 Worcester, MA | Subject: RE: Patriot Half Triathlon : Official Thread Had a nice ride on Saturday with some friends. I missed a couple of the turns, there is a tough left at mile 10ish where there is no sigh, and I saw the downhill one late and almost hit a car as I came around the RT, my fault. There are definitely a few places were carrying any speed will be tough, then there is a hard rt on Miller - mile 22ish? Other than that, it's got a few "bumps" but nothing those of us from western/northern mass would call a BIG hill. |

Other than that, it's got a few "bumps" but nothing those of us from western/northern mass would call a BIG hill. Yeah, I missed that left as well my first lap. I blame it on the two dudes I was behind. I figured they knew where they were going. They did. Just not were I wanted to go. :/ I also should thank Rudy for the heads up on the hard right onto Old Powderhouse Rd. I would have missed that one too had I not been reminded of his warning. On another note, anyone know approximately when the swim waves will be announced? Edited by mighty mom 2012-05-22 1:00 PM |

Nah, some monster went 2:12 last year in Aquabike, i do not think i can approach that. But i would love to be sub 2:20 this year, goal time is 2:15 which i think is about 25mph avg, i know i have 3 mins in me, but 7 mins would be a major improvement from last year, and will be quite a bit of work. But i will try, lol. I figure 2:15 will be near the top of the full course athletes. i went 24.6 last year on lap one, and backed off it hard on lap 2 to about 22.5, as i was not sure how i would feel for the run and how hard/easy the run would actually be, so a little course knowledge will help this year. The only real climbs on the run if i remember were late in the run, and by then you are going on adrenaline knowing the finish is approaching, so i will try not to back off the bike this year, knowing the aid stations are every mile on the run, i can let the run legs settle in in the first couple miles. who knows, i could implode totally and be drinking beer by mile 2 of the run also, lol!!!
i will be sure to try and find you and your group!! I love meeting peeps at races, for me meeting new people and hanging out is a huge part of the race experience and making it enjoyable regardless of result!!

x2 on race exp... I went EZ on the first lap and by the time I was feeling like a champ on the second lap I crashed like an idiot... lol I will try to aim for 2.30 or better this year The run is tricky cause the first miles are downhill; last year I pushed those first miles and I paid the price at the end. I think this year I am going to settle in a good rhythm first and then get to work... Hopefully we have a good day weather wise but I won't complain if it rains... that run is HOT! and btw: u will def see us around! We are a noisy bunch lol Edited by camaleon 2012-05-23 9:46 AM |

I live about 45 minutes from the event and will drive down the morning of so I don't want to be out too late. I took that day off from work so early isn't an issue. |
