Extreme Veteran 633 Hollister, CA | Subject: RE: November "Don't Look Like a Turkey" Challenge A few friends had been wanting to run a half marathon so we signed up for Big Sur Half and ran it today! Yay! It was a gorgeous day. Despite some IT issues with one of my friends we finished in 2:28. This race goes on my list of one of my favorites! Ive updated my Run Goals already. yayay! Then.. When I got home the family & I drove up to our ranch (lots-of-land....not a "horsie/cow" ranch) and cut firewood. I must say that Im getting pretty dang good at using a Husqvarna chainsaw for a girl! :D If you've ever cut wood you know what a workout it can be. ...so this got me to thinking about my Turkey Challenge Goals..... does woodcutting suffice as "strength Training? Serious Question. serious. |

Hope all of you Turkeys have a great Thanksgiving! |

New user 214 Ottawa, Ontario, Canada | Subject: RE: November "Don't Look Like a Turkey" Challenge So, with just under a week to go.. I need to run outside twice, swim once and yoga once (is it acceptable to use "yoga" as a verb?). Should be do-able (especially since a yoga DVD that I've had a hold on at the library forever is now downstairs in my purse.. |

Member 390 | Subject: RE: November "Don't Look Like a Turkey" Challenge one more bike and one more swim I will meet my goals. Just feeling a little unmotivated lately not sure why. I have been pushing myself each day to get things done. Could be the lack of sunlight. I hate this time of year. You get up in the dark and come home and come home when it is starting to get dark. Did by a new trainer to use but miss riding outside. Looking forward to Christmas vacation and 8 days in Jamaica were I can run on the beach and swim in the ocean. Just wish I could bring my bike. But would not be that safe to ride in Jamaica alone on unknown roads. The roads are not the best and they drive on the opposite side of the road |

Only five days left ... don't know if I will quite meet my goal, but it is still a possibility. Either way, this challenge has gotten me to do more than I have for a long while! |

This challenge really got me focused on my core and strength training sessions. Proof that small sessions done consistently will make improvements to my core and strength. WooHoo to SueFesta for being the first to get 100%! Actually she is an over-achiever because she is over 100%. WTG! I'm going to try to catch you but I think I'm going to have to do more core/strength than planned to reach 100%. Looks like I've been hit with the nasty PF crap that I've read about for years so I think my running miles will fall slightly short. So will have to over achieve on core or bike. |

GAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had PF in one foot for a year. I finally got rid of it..... Three minutes later, it hit my other foot. And it stayed there for over a year, too. I think I've finally gotten rid of it. Never could figure out exactly what caused it.... (Which worries me a bit, because if you don't know what caused it, how can you know how to keep it away!) PF. I was about ready to taser my heel.... Edited by D001 2012-11-26 11:59 PM |

Veteran 421 Boston, MA | Subject: RE: November "Don't Look Like a Turkey" Challenge Well, I seem to have injured my ankle running. I'd hoped it was one of those tiny pains that goes away after a couple of days, but it's been bothering me every run, and is now also a bit painful just walking around. I'm optimistic that it's still not too serious, but I'll definitely be laying off the running for the next couple of weeks to give it time to rest up. No sense in injuring myself during the off season... The good news is that it gives me more motivation to hop on my trainer, which I've been neglecting. Ultimately, I'm not going to meet any of my goals 100%, but I've done a lot more than I had for the previous two months, so this was still great motivation to start up a winter schedule! |

So sorry about the injury. But way to see the good about it by moving to the trainer. Hope you heal quickly. Dee, sorry you had to suffer with the PF too. I've heard about it for years and knew I didn't want it. It truly blows. |

As for me, squeaking in on the challenge, down to the wire! I love the way a challenge gets me motivated like nothing else. Thanks for playing! It is the most amazingly beautiful day possible in Florida in November. You should all be jealous! Sunny, light breeze, brilliant blue skies, ripe oranges on the tree outside, and 69 degrees! |

Extreme Veteran 1222 Tallahassee, Florida | Subject: RE: November "Don't Look Like a Turkey" Challenge WooHoo, I made it! 100% on the bike, over 100% on core/strength, and barely missing the running. I can't rish the PF to try to make it to 100% on the running but I was able to ez run a 5k today with no PF pain. I will still be taking it easy til next week's 50K and then go as far as I can. Dee, even tho I was terrified of that dang taser, it definitely kept me focused on the goal. Thank you for organizing the challenge and I would like to meet up with you in the challenge forum some more. Hope I get to see everybody else too! |

New user 214 Ottawa, Ontario, Canada | Subject: RE: November "Don't Look Like a Turkey" Challenge Woohoo! I yoga'd (yeah, that really doesn't look right) this evening to make up for my complete lack of desire to swim... and that gets me to exactly 100%. No tasering for me!
Thanks for running the challenge. It has definitely made me more active in the past few weeks than I would have been (life has been a bit crazy).. |
