kmanus - 2008-07-17 10:56 AM So I now own a mtn bike (no clue how that happened) and have actually ridden down here on some easy trails at Sweetwater.  My darling husband assures me that with some practice I can do Papago.  So should I become delusional enough to sign up for the PBR and forgo the Tinfoilman here, does the swim require a wetsuit?

We need to get our buttocks over to Fantasy Island.  It's a fabulous place to get your feeties wet on the MTB.  And of course we need to get soooper good so that we can form a team for next years 24 Hours in he Old Pueblo race!  Wheeeeeee!

So I don't have to do it DUO this year?????? WHOOOOOOO!!! BT 24 Hour Team!!!

Oxofthedessert - 2008-07-14 12:36 PM MMMM horse poop is right. Lots of it everywhere out there. and the tunnel is kinda creepy for snakes. Bu the tunnel at the dreamy draw is worse. I ride a hard tail now for everything. I did competative down hill in Europe and had a full suspension but I have not found anything here that really needed it.
Try National trail on South Mountain! http://www.nathanriddle.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/downieville_mthood-328.jpg[/QUOTE]

Oh I have ridden that run that kicked that even napped on that trail. I grew up with South Mtn in my back yard. I love National trail. But I am lot heavier than I was when I rode it last. Maybe after a few more pounds.

That could be fun. Hopefully we will be up to the task by then.

The results from last year showed we'd (as a duo) would only have to ride like 5 laps to place.   We'd have to do lots more as a 4-person women open thing team.  Not sure I'm gonna be up to it for 09...but we'll see.  I don't this is going to take like a fish in water experience.....

K, you KNOW that's why the hubby bought you a mountain bike! He's a sneaky one.

We definitely need to all go out to Fantasy sometime. I'll bring the copious amounts of gauze Zilla will need.

While I was in the post-IM coma, apparently I agreed to Zac's proposal of doing 24HOP as a duo co-ed team next year. Oh joy.

No no, duo as 2 person female duo. A co-ed duo needs many more laps to place.....or to look semi-respectable.  I think he might be thinking of doing a solo try at it....I'm pretty sure he is going solo for the Dawn to Dusk.  See if Ms. PirateGirl hadn't gone off in a stupor and agreed to a co-ed duo....we could have made a TTG/BT Girl's team.

We'd have to do a lot of laps to pretend to be respectable tho....

You know in Erik's drunkeness at Rocky Point he told me if I did the 25 Proof Whiskey ride...he'd do an Ironman.  Even I can walk a bike 25 miles.  Silly boy.

And 25 miles with whiskey is even better!

You'll have to meet Liane (fellow Tri Girl). She does the Xterras with me. She's walked that race with her bike. She keeps referring to it as a Death March. Anyways, her tale is hilarious.

Yeah Erik felt pretty tortured after that race I guess.  Luckily I escaped to China while he did it.  Although I hear the Pub Crawl afterwards made it all better.

I did duo coed last year.

Although it was not MY year (I have done this race 5 times) and go figure the year I go duo is the first year I actually fell asleep during the race, and lost my lights on the course twice!! Poor DH had a 5 hour lap time!!! (they start the other persons lap time when your teammate comes in)

Its fun no matter what and the LAST thing you care about at 24HITOP is PLACING!!

Ohhh yeah I had a ton of fun freezing my patootie off.  And then taking my roving adobe brick to the car wash.  Got charged extra to get the mud off.  Lots of fun.  Thank god while I was volunteering I was sitting next to the heater.  Course getting up at 4amish to drive across Tucson to run a 5K is also something I'd not recommend after being out there all night.

Not a problem. My partner in this case is my husband, who, of course, answers to me.

How so?

Duo means you have to get ready every 1h45 mins and do another lap, come back and rest, and continue for 24 hours. Not fun. When you are out there soloing it, you just continue to ride at the same slow pace for 24 hours. Trust me, I had so much fun doing it solo last year...one of the best races I have ever done (minus the bronchitis part a few days later)

Heh...not us. We'll be doing back-to-back laps for that reason. It's all in the spreadsheet.

So I'm reading the Red Rock e-newsletter thing today and it appears the finish for the PBR is a slip'n'slide?  Really?  Is this new?

But since I registered by sept 12 i'm in to win a wetsuit and I'm up for free stuff.

Doood....I really want to do PBR. Wonder if I can find a substitute TTG volunteer to head up the TTGs and corral them at Tinfoil.

I'll do it for you since I'm a dumbazz and registered to late and now can't get into the race.  Sigh.

Aw man...that sucks you can't get in. Firecracker really screwed it up this year.

Thanks sooooo much for corraling them! I'll do all the e-mail stuff and they'll just track you down and do like we did before in March. I think Bizzy will be there to help too.
