hahahahaha this is turning out to be a decision i am already regretting....as i ran in Miami today in 86 degrees & 70% humidity....

i hope my expectations are met....crappy warm lake swim, ride on flat roads with nothing to see, xterra run....maybe i am to much...sounds like i nailed it before even getting there.

and i am 30-34...this just sounds like a cluster fvck...

Cube, Can't believe you did West Point Oly after R&R Half - Macon.  Craziness at West Point. On mile 4ish of the run there was a short hill and a paraplegic athlete asked me to push him up. Now, I was already already out of gas, but how could I say no! So I did, he said thanks and wheeled off, and I seriously almost passed out. Managed to drag my rear to the finish line. Dangerous though. I hear some experienced athletes were in the med tent. I am an 47-year old age grouper and don't need to inflict serious bodily harm - I do this for fun.

btw, my right glutes tightened up on Tuesday at mile 6 of a 10 mile run. No choice but to lay off running from now until the event. Doing swim and light bike, stretching and Alleve. As if I didn't have enough to worry about for my first HIM!

This will be my second HUM, first was Miami inaugural race last yr...talk about running until you are a madman.  Anyways,  I am not looking to make it harder either but the tougher, the better the personal reward.  I also threw my back last week, just 18 days before the race so I am done with training.

I have done 5 other HIM's, and intentially left this for last on my Florida HIM bucket list due to the run.   After doing a HIM in Clermont last summer, I am pretty sure I am ready for the heat though.   I have been training in this heat and despite being spoiled by 80 degree temps this weekend, I doubt that trend continues to the 15th.   Misery will love company that day.

Back is almost healed, will be checking in on SAT and staying nearby but outside of the WDW compound.  Did a 90 minute spinerval this AM but havent run for 10 days, so it will be 3 wks on race day... Heck, if I can finish I'll be happy. 

Since I travel to races with the whole family is real difficult for me to participate in any BT dinners/activities, but I am still putting the idea on the table as I don't see you guys have planned for this. 

I will be wearing a WHT/RED Mitsubishi tri top on race day.  Bib 956. 

G'luck to all mates, esp those of us who are doing their first or second race.  Prepare for the high humidity and heat.  Take lots of fluids.  For out of towners: all central FL lakes are tannin colored, so (including myself) let's not freak out about the low water visibility. 

Same here. I aggravated my gluteus 12 days ago, so it will be 18 days of no running for me come race day. Will be happy to get through mile 6 of the run before the tush acts up and slows me to a walk.

Good of you for the dinner invite. I'd like to join a post-race dinner group if I finish (I will not be good company if I don't). I will check BT late afternoon Sunday to see if you post a time and place.  

The Ritz Carlton / JW Marriott spa is amazing.  If you don't want to spend that much money, check out Massage Envy. The have several locations and are pretty good.

Last year the hubs and I made sure we checked in on Friday right at noon. We got our choice of spots (ends!) and then had a day and a half to putz around Orlando. It seemed to work out well.

Kera, there are no marked bike racks?  or do we just stack in any given order?  That's insane.  I must have misunderstood you. 

If that's all true I am finding a way to rack tomorrow.  Pls, let me know.

Good news kids... went to Athlete Briefing today and found out that they changed the run and eliminated half of the bad roads. Rather than 6+ miles of off-roading, it's down to a tolerable 3 miles. 

Had a great swim at Lucky's this morning. Sara McClarty joined us. Off to a super-fun Ironman weekend start!
