Extreme Veteran 301 Charlotte, North Carolina | Subject: RE: Artichoke Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) MDHillSlug - 2008-09-07 5:12 PM Hi, Our reported results for week one are: 1for1 9.3 37.20% As of Saturday the month was 20% finished. So, highest kudos go to Ralph (1for1), Michele (trainergirlmick), and Amy (amtro1234) for being ahead of goal. The rest of us have work to do. I know that some of you are racing today so the breakup of the weeks was not advantageous for the first week. There's still 24 days to reach our goals. Good start to the challenge! I may have to extend my goal. I will know by the end of next week. |

It seems like just last week it was still light. What happened? Anyhow, I did 3.7 miles this AM. What's everyone else been up to? When do you prefer to train? |

Extreme Veteran 460 | Subject: RE: Artichoke Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) I like to train in the morning...get it done. If I can run with someone, even better!!!! Although, I did run 5 by myself over the weekend. I was back in Middleton, WI....miss that place and ran thru the conservency there. It was pure heaven. No iPod. DH and I are actually going to go back in a couple of weeks and run thru there a couple of times. Worth the drive. Going to try to run it tomorrow to. Have to go there for a doc appt. |

Master 1585 Folsom (Sacramento), CA | Subject: RE: Artichoke Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) Hey guys, Sorry that I have been MIA. I just started a photography company and I was away at a gig all weekend. 8-12 hour days in 100 degree heat with no shade doesnt lend itslef to getting much running done. Then, to top it off, I cracked the toenail on my big toe when I got back. Its finally feeling better so i should be back to running today. I still think I can make my goal and intend to do so. You'll be hearing from me more often now. |

Master 1585 Folsom (Sacramento), CA | Subject: RE: Artichoke Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) I enjoy running in the morning...I just can't get my body up that early most days. I really am a night owl. The reason i like the morning runs, at least for now, is that it is so much cooler. I am actually looking forward to winter so I can't start running immeadiately after work without it being 90 degrees. |

I like the "Soon as I get home run off the stress" runs, but when it is big time humid and plus 90, I just can't talk yself into it... So I have been running at night on the hamster wheel after I get the kids down to bed... Gives me that quiet time all to myself... |

Pro 4343 Olney, MD | Subject: RE: Artichoke Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) I used to ride the bike on the trainer in the evening but I discovered it was too easy to make excuses not to (too tired, too busy, etc). I also needed time to come back down before I'd be able to sleep. So, I switched to mornings before work. I like this because it's MY time, without interruption or conflict. Wakes me up. No excuses! |

I used to do the mornings... I wan tto get back to it... Work and getting the kiddies to the bus in the morning is my biggest challenge right now... By the time I get them up, fed out the door to a 20 minutes drive tot he bus stop (Near their Mom's House), then back home it is 7:30... Then I have to get me ready and to work.. I plan on running on the mornings that I don't have the kids.. Once that wonderful artic air slides a little more south.. :-) |

Pro 4343 Olney, MD | Subject: RE: Artichoke Team Thread (Sept Run Challenge) Hi All, I made an error when I reported our team's week 2 results. I reported our two week totals rather than our second week miles. We're not in 4th place as reported by Shawn. We should really be down in 7th with a 34.7% completion. It's an improvement from last week's 9th place. But we've got a LONG way to go to get near 4th place for real. Sorry for the confusion. I'll get it right next week! Everyone, get out and RUN! |

It is more the fact that some of the artic (Northern) wind is coming down this way and getting it colder... Lows here run 40 - 0, but below 20 is not the norm... |

Sorry I have been out of pocket, the migraines have been giving me the fit... I got two miles in tonight, and I plan on running tomorrow.. Really disappointed in myself though.. I expect to have a better showing than what I have had... I'll hit my goal though, you guys can count on me! I guess it isn't that easy to climb back on to the hobby horse when you fall off hard... |
