runnergirl29 - 2005-10-26 11:32 AM Is it true that if a guy is interested in a girl, he'll become great buds with her best friend in hopes that her best friend will tell her what a great guy is is and all that jazz?
NNNNOOOOOOOOOO! That is WAY too much work for a girl you really don't know. Further, most guys hate their girlfirend's friends. Bill

Hmm...interesting.  I've had a few guys do that to me.  It's like they butter up my good friend, and then after awhile they throw in the line "what about Janelle- do you think she'd date me?"  And then my friend calls me, talks so highly of this guy, and then I think he's a loser for even mentioning that he's interested in me to my friend, so then the plan back fires, and then I'm compeltely apalled by him because it seems so high school.

Yes...that happens. But the usual motive is the promise of an eventual three way. At least that's what I've heard.

I agree, that would be too much work. It doesn't hurt to have another woman show interest, thus it creates a little competition/if she thinks he's worth dating then I should give him a chance. But to make friends with her friend, too much work, too many ways things could get messed up. For instance, what is the girlfriend falls for the guy, then there is no way the dating will happen.

But you do need to rent the movie, if anything it will provide you with a great laugh and a sense of what guys are thinking. And yes, every guy has a friend like Jon Favreau's chacter, the guy that just can't get over his ex. In fact, many of us were that guy to some degree at one time or another.

Good Luck and enjoy the movie,
Jay

Hmmm....ok, he called me Sunday, talked about hanging out over the weekend, We ended the conversation by me telling him to give me a call later in the week to further discuss.  It's Wednesday, I would hope he'd call either tonight or tomorrow night to discuss plans?

Today or tomorrow for sure. Probably tomorrow. If he calls today, he's worried that he looks too eager. Since you've already agreed to spend time doing something this weekend, he can afford a Thursday call. Friday is too late, though.

Only bad thing is that I forgot about a Halloween party that I have Saturday night.  Hopefully he doesn't want to hang Saturday night.  If so, should I invite him since he'll know a few of my friends?  It would be rude not to invite if it comes up in conversation and he might thinkit's ust an excuse.  But then it wouldn't really be an "ideal" date. But I don't want to miss the party either.

Assuming the host(s) won't mind, invite him to the party. It's a low-key way to hang out for a while and it gives your friends a chance to evaluate him. Also, it gives him an opening to suggest a dinner or movie early- to mi-week next week since you didn't really go on a "date" over the weekend.

Ok- maybe I don't even need to worry about my weekend plans, because it's Thursday night and he hasn't called.  What's up with that?  I think our first date was going to be casual and we were goign to try to do something Sat. or Sunday afternoon.  I think I told him Sunday afternoon would work better for me.  So...maybe he'll call tomorrow hopefully???  This is why I hate the whole dating thing.  It's always seems like a game- ugh!

It's all very illogical and confusing. Step up and make a plan to get together for a concrete activity. What's up with this let's maybe hang out some time stuff?

ok, I don't really know anything. I'm not one of those married for X years.

I do find it easier to go out for a run or a ride. haha

hmmmmm... this guy is kind of perplexing... i lived by rules but he is stretching the mid week call waaaaaaaaaay to long... maybe you should check out the book... "he's just not that into you"... just kidding... when he said that he got your number from a friend.. did you verify it as correct.... did you get his number in return?.... give him a jingle, he might have gotten busy at work and has been too tired to do much else besides sleep... this thread is great by the way... i get to real life "reality tv"... my sattelite is down here and i don't get anymore american TV...

I've already read that book- ha,ha!  I NEVER call guys unless they're my good friends.  I figure if they're interested enough they'll call me.  I don't know if I have his number- I'll have too look in my phone.  It should be there since he did call me.  We ended the conversation and he said something like for me to call him.  And then I said something like "call the later and we can figure out details."  So I hope he's not waiting for me to call him because I don't like calling guys.  my motto "nice girls don't call guys."

NNNNOOOOOO, negative, nyet. When setting up the first date, the guy should NEVER ask the girl to call him !! I don't understand what is so hard about setting up a date in mid week for the weekend- doesn't he have a plan book? How about him saying (on Tuesday when you spoke with him) him- how about Saturday? you- oh well I've got a party to go to, him- is Sunday any better? you- yeah, that sounds good, him- can I pick you up for lunch?, you- great !. Now what is so hard about that? Anything else in my book is a. he's playing games or b. he's neurotic. I don't have time for games, if I'm not interested, I'll tell her so we can move on. It's only fair.
keep us updated.

this is true... when i was single (just went over 7years married on 9 oct)... i ALWAYS made the first date plans... and i made them in advance to try and juggle things around (work, buddy time... check to see which games were on tv etc.)... has he made the call yet? it's much too late in the week for a weekend date, unless your slate is completely clean... especially if you were going to bring him to the party...

Oh well.  I can't help it if he's imtimidated by my charm, good looks, and athletic abilities!  I'm kidding.  I only say that so I don't get frustrated   Honestly if he's not gonna call then it's his loss.

Janelle- good thinking. It is HIS loss, f him. You will one day soon find your knight in shining armor. Have you considered one of those match.com sites? I have a couple of friends who have some decent dates from there.
