I look at all the M-Dot gear out there but I know I personally cannot wear it until I become an Ironman. The only thing I have with the Ironman logo/trademark is my Timex watch.  I was in the Marine Corps and I have the same felling about it as I do the Ironman.  You cannot wear anything Marine Corps or get any tattoos until you become a Marine.  Once I became a Marine I got my tattoo 1 week later, and I wear Marine gear all the time, it's something I am proud of.  I feel the same way about wearing Ironman stuff.  I would hate to be a "poser" and I would feel like I took away something that others have worked so hard for.  I want to get the Ironman tattoo and I want to wear the gear, but I have to get my a$$ out of bed everyday and train to do become an Ironman.

So until the day that I cross the finish line of an Ironman, my watch is going to be the only thing that says Ironman.

My 2 cents.

Good point, I surf military.com and always amazed at all the posers out there claiming to be  Marine Recon, Ranger Ricks,  Seal team 6, Green Berets, Delta ect.ect.  Really hate the MFs that say MOH winner.

Anyway, carry on.

Since you are well-connected, I've gotta ask.  Any word at all of us getting an Mdot 140.6 in Texas anytime soon?  It seems with a state this big there would be numerous good locales for it.

They tried for years to put it together.  Don't hold your breath.  It will not happen.

Talk to Melody at NA Sports and her answer is, "It's not just no.  It's hell no."

Wonder why the no no no atittude?

Well, that is sad to hear JF.  Maybe they'll make it a different color.  I earned my right to wear "schwag" (as Daremo put it.

I saw an ad for an IM treadmill.  What is that all about?  Ugh.

Still, when I try to explain the IM thing to someone they usually have a clue that is a tri but have no clue of the distances.  recently found out I was equated to an extended family member based on the "tri" thing but then someone explained--months later--that I am an IM and not a Sprint Tri one-timer as the other guy.  (I keep my IM thing to myself, and let the Schwag speak.

chriselam - 2008-01-03 9:22 PM I'm doing IMFL next year. Oh, crap, this year. Hmm. Anywho, I don't own anything with an mdot on it, but believe me I have every intention of buying the whole onsite store the next day.

Plan on getting there and in line at about 7 o'clock ........ when I finally hobbled over there around 11-ish the place was cleaned out and the line was still a hundred or so people long. I just came back later in the afternoon and got a sweatshirt which I wear a lot at home.

Yeah, I was next to the huge line in the huge line to register, although I was in the volunteer line so it was a little less huge. Huge huge huge. There, now I have the record for saying huge in a single post. Huge.

I just got my Triathlete magazine today and there is a teaser on the cover "Do your really deserver your M-Dot?".  A petpeeve of mine is when I turn to the table of contents to find the teaser and cannot find it!  I've flipped through the entire magazine twice now and saw nothing about whether or not I deserve my M-Dot.  Somebody please tell me what article addresses this.

~Mike

The article in question is on page 24 on the top left page. It isn't really an article but rather more of a rebuttal by the guy who wrote the original letter to Triathlete about deserving the M Dot. I agree though that it all might have been a ploy to get people fired up.

Thanks!  I was pretty ticked, having flipped through the darn magazine 3 times and NOT finding the article.  I thought maybe they were referring to the article on steriod use.

I quit buying Men's Health b/c I got so sick of the actual article having NOTHING to do with the teasers on the cover.  After this little "adventure," this magazine might not be far behind...
