When I'm in the "bite me" zone...I barter with myself. Now Barb...if you run these last 4 miles at XX pace...you can treat yourself to .... fill in the blank. 9 times out of 10 it's something inappropriate. The tenth time it's ice cream or decked out FroYo from Berry Chill.Haha... I can't really say in a public forum what I say to myself on long runs or bike time trials. About the only person who really knows the true wrath of my vocabulary is myself. I absolutely berate myself. I call myself every deragatory name in the book and then some. Then when I suck it up to prove myself wrong, I give my mind the finger and say "never doubt me again, just get out of my way." Corny yeah, but it works. whatever works, right? you should have heard what was going on in my head in the pool yesterday morning!

Expert 1226 Chicago | Subject: RE: May "President's Cup" challenge - US Central Team Here's what I've estimated... * Swim: 17,000 yds * Bike: 200 miles * Run: 55 It's actually difficult for me to predict goals because I get my schedule one week at a time (I think my coach does this to keep me from freaking out). If anything, I may need to adjust up...assuming my bike doesn't need to go to the doctor again. I also have a race on the 17th! EEP!!! No me gusta cold water swims. Tonight? SPEED TRAINING. (read as: run until I vomit...or just shoot me now). And tomorrow morning, I'm going to attempt my first ever pre-work swim workout. Homegirl doesn't like doing training BEFORE work...nor does she like waking up early...so I could use all the cheerleadin' I can get...I plan on being at the gym for my 3200 by 5:30. Love the poster, darlin'. Love it. |

Champion 5117 Brandon, MS | Subject: RE: May "President's Cup" challenge - US Central Team Ok, formal introduction: My name is Bill and I'm living in Brandon, MS which is right outside of Jackson. I have a house to myself until November 15th when the future Mrs. Sesh and I will be tying the knot. To pass the time I'm training my butt off (strength training excluded). Oh yeah, as for this tri thing, I've made two comebacks. The first was from something we'll just call a severely unhealthy lifestyle. The second was from knee surgery following the doctor saying (and this is word for word), "I really have no idea how you just walked into this office." Good times. I actually "ran" a marathon in February of '07, which was awesome (especially since it was in New Orleans), but the exercise ADD kicked in and I went for a tri. The one I have coming up on May 31st will be go #2 at my very first. The first go round I got slapped in the face with how hard these things are. Now, I'm ready and I'm going to burn the thing down. Eventhough I couldn't really figure out my times this month, I couldn't not participate in a challenge. They've been such a huge help to me this year, and the camaraderie of the teams is a blast. It really makes training a lot more fun when you've got people (who think in the same crazy way) to share it with. So.. my goal is to make sure you all reach your goals! |

ok, I take that back - I did have to resort to pom poms in the November challenge - lol We wouldn't complain if you brought those back...is it time to introduce the team to the finer points of invisible font? |

Soooo, since the challenges have helped me get this far, I figured I'd stick around and cheer on some BT peeps this month while I enter taper madness. Have run a few marathons and done a few tris since then. My big achievement was completing an Oly last season. I have a HIM coming up next month...brrrr... Was essentially a non-swimmer 5 years ago. Swimming has been my weak point, but I've been spending lots of time in the pool this winter...
