Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: Avatar Avengers dcon - 2008-06-01 8:54 AM Hi everyone, My name is Dan and I'm currently living in Sendai, Japan. I am hoping to up my cycling time during the June challenge and ideally get back into running. I've been having problems with my knees for the past couple of months and backed off of running during the May challenge. Even though I did that, I ended up with sore knees. I'm now thinking that cycling may be part or all of the problem. Over the weekend I went out and bought a set of clipless pedals and shoes. I'm thinking that will help keep my knees in a consistent position during cycling and perhaps eliminate the problems I've had. It's worth a try anyway.
Dee: I expect you're really busy. I am pretty sure that I can put together a table if you haven't gotten around to it by the time I wake up.
Dan Whoops. I should have kept reading. Thanks, Dan! I got the first part together. I'll leave it to you guys to find a nice "Avatar Avenger" background picture. Good luck with the knee problems. Hope it clears up for you quickly! |

I like that one. Go Kamikaze Geckos - #1 Team in the June Challenge! OK, so you're not the Geckos. But that little glittery gecko is just SO cool that I had to share it. |

I set them a bit low on purpose, knowing that my life will be crazy for a bit. I just got a job offer, and will start on June 9. Having been unemployed for the last 8 months, this will be an adjustment in itself. Then there's the whole commute time, new work schedule, etc.
That said, I'm excited to get started! |

You actually have to be logged in...go figure. I worked a ton of hours in May, so training was put on the back burner. I'm done with that. I'm starting out June with a triathlon...on Sunday (it'll be my 2nd). Hopefully that will get the ball rolling for me and keep me motivated. My ultimate goals are weightloss, so by completeing the distances for this challenge, I'm hoping to acheive my ultimate goal. And guess what, there are only 2 folks signed up in the Athena category on Sunday...I'm totally going to win 2nd place GO AVATAR AVENGERS!!! The Cheesecakes are going down!!! ...and I don't mean to our hips ladies! I'm fine with the Cheesecakes going down. (Probably because I'm not on their team. ) why are you picking on the cheesecakes? must be because you are askeered! LOL |

Master 1356 | Subject: RE: Avatar Avengers D001 - 2008-06-01 4:21 PM Hives? Could there have been something in the water? Was it fresh water or salt water? Or was the wetsuit new? Maybe it needs a good washing? Well, my wetsuit has been hanging in the closet for 4 years (just about to the month!). I've spent the intervening years pregnant or nursing my two kiddos. Happily the wetsuit still fits. It was last worn in Baja, Sea of Cortez, but I had no issues there and rinsed it well upon return. The swim... in the "fresh water" Lake Almaden which supposedly sometimes has bacterial level issues due to duck and goose fecal matter. Lovely, yes? Since I was with my hubby, he gave up his T and I took off my top and wore his shirt home rather than keeping whatever irritant against my skin. I showered immediately at home. *shrug* I dunno what caused it. Hubby had no hives, but he didn't wear his wetsuit after I said the temps didn't really require it. He also doesn't wear a tri-top so didn't stand around with a wet top stuck to his skin. I did have some irritation below the waistline, but mostly it was my torso so maybe something in my top but it was freshly rinsed in same old detergent. We might try for another OWS one night this week since the lake is bikeable and supposedly is now open afternoon/evenings. I'd like more OWS practice, though no more hives. Tri is at Shadowcliffs in Pleasanton June 21. |

I confess I am not a very consistent inspirer, but I'm more than happy to keep the spreadsheet updated if anyone needs help that way. I am a 38 yr old, homeschooling mom of three teenage girls. I have a wonderful, supportive husband who encourages training, and readily forks out the dough to pay for my races and travel. I was conned into doing my first triathlon in April of 2007. In spite of my mid-swim vow never to do anything like this again (to be read in my introduction link: My first post) I was hooked, and have enjoyed the training and racing immensely. I got my first rest day out of the way for the month! Go Avengers! |

We have the same irritant problem here at our local lakes. Fortunately, the swim lagoon I love so much is chlorine-shocked a few times throughout the season. Edited by madkat 2008-06-01 11:54 PM |
