mr2tony - 2008-07-24 1:51 PM I've seen as high as 105 in my day. But that was long before any of you were a twinkle in Marmadaddy's eye.

how long has TAN been going on?

Oh, now listen here, son, I'll tell you the tale of TAN.

No one really knows how TAN started, or when it started. Some say it always was. Some say it was spawned by the unholy union of the Devil himself and some wood nymph. I'm here to tell ya, they're all wrong. I know the truth.

Way back, one day, two people were fishing in their boat. Good friends, they were. Well, one of those friends fell in the water. Saw something shiny, mostly buried in the mud. So he swam down to see what it was. It was a gold ring. He grabbed it, and there's been badness afoot in the lands ever since.

No matter what you believe, there aren't many of the old TANners around anymore these days. Some were chased off, some went insane. Some just grew old and bitter, not liking the turn TAN had taken.

In the end, TAN goes on.

Was there one TAN to rule them all?

Lore.

Another theory is that TAN was created accidentally during a military experiment in the Arizona desert. And that its creation was the reason we now have the F-22 Raptor, tootsie rolls and the Internet. Of course it was only unleashed upon the world recently after powering several government projects for years and years.

There's ALWAYS a real explanation.

Nope.  Just me, baby.  Just me.

There's a Necronomicon of TAN.

In my searches, I also found several "anti" TAN threads - or threads questioning it.

None have been started recently.  Either they have broken, or quietly accept the reality that nothing will kill TAN.

i remember the anit tan's ... I think people were upset about people in tan getting a high post count and they didn't want new people to think when they posted in the tri area that a high post count equaled good advice.. or something like that. but since not many of the regular tan'ers post there it doesn't seem like a big deal now..

just like anything change is difficult at first..   like once a month when I change my under roos to a different super hero.. it's tough

I'm also thinking of taking the girlfriend to Vegas since she has never been there..of course it would be the weekend of silverman and maybe I'll be recovered for a 1/2 Iron so we both get something out of the deal

The anti-TAN threads were abundant for awhile. Then the OPs in them seemingly disappeared. Thanks for that, by the way, Scout.

That would be cool.  But just thinking.  I was not up for going out before the race (to be ready for it) and I was mess after.  Doing it up in Vegas after a long race could be rough.  You need LOTS of energy for this town.  However, the pools would be a GREAT location to recover.

(And show off that tri body to all the ladies!)

it be a very laid back lay by the pool and watch the guys hit on my GF and since I"m too tired to pick up a chair to hit them it would work out very well

Trust me she is the hot one of the duo

That kinda goes without saying ... I told MRS2Tony after dinner with Aikidoman and MRS. Aikidoman the other night that the guys in the restaurant were probably saying ...
