What's your inseam length compared to your height? (Page 3)

Funny shite, I went into Nordstrom's for the annual sale yesterday and totally out of character I bought fancy jeans! Weird. Never heard of Mavi before, and I "think" I bought Sevens..maybe. The Mavi's were perfect length and the other ones needed about four inches off the bottom!

36" inseam for pants.

38.75 or so for bike fitting purposes.....

74" tall with  31 inseam.   My wife says that my back is like a landing strip it so long.

 i remember reading somewhere once that the ideal ratio for males in terms of physical attractiveness as judged by women is a 1:1 torso:inseam(inseam as measured from the floor to the top of the inside thigh) ratio(legs equal in length to torso) (floor to crotch, crotch to top of shoulder), the ideal for women was 1:1.4 i think (longer legs than torso); most people average around 1:1.2 (makes sense as its right between the male and female ideal)

 granted i dont know what your torso length is, but for your height the average inseam length for a male 70" is 33.74in (http://robyn.faeriemanor.org/BodyProportions.phtml), so you must be pretty close to the ideal....so i wouldnt worry about having short legs

im a male 76" height 35" leg length (measured floor to top of inner thigh... i think thats like 33" pant inseam?) and id love to have shorter legs

Probably a dumb question (and I apologize if it's already been asked, haven't read the whole thread)...

But, how do you measure your inseam?  Is it basically just from your crotch to your ankle?  Is there a standardized way to measure it?

Generally accepted way - barefoot or socks, feet ~8" apart, back and heels against a wall.  Snug a book into your crotch and level it.  Measure from the top of the book to the floor.

Revbigdog - 2008-09-22 2:39 PM Interesting bump --- I will say looking over the data - it just confirms that I am in fact built bizzarely.  I am 76' (6'4" with a 30" inseam.  for a .39 ratio.  But I have long arms - most of my length is torso.

those are great proportions imo; Michael Phelps' (6'4" often-quoted inseam is 30" but it looks like 28" in pictures if not less, because i have a 32" pant inseam and am 76" as well and i definitely dont have anywhere close to his torso length,

 also i wanted to correct that the torso as was measured for the aesthetics experiments is from the highest place between the "sack" and the thigh to the top of the shoulder, i.e. not counting the ahem sex organs in the length of the torso; since males have external genitalia it creates the illusion of shorter legs and is also why males wear a shorter inseam for a given leg length compared to women, so the comparisons between males and females on inseam alone arent very accurate as to leg length (at least a 2" difference, so a woman with legs as long as mine would have a 2" longer inseam at least)
