oh, btw I finalized my goal for the month

5 hrs

I know that's still pretty wimpy, but I still have a lot of 'life happens' potential this month

its ok - my initial goal is 4 hours walking... Im testing out the knee nad feet and I think that 3 8 20 minute sessions a  week is plenty initially...

So, do we have any html experts on the team?

Definatley not me...and Im guessing not you???

Dee isnt on a team.. maybe we could adopt her?

she might be willing to help us out in a pinch - of course she might be inclined to sit back and watch the fun if I decide to give it another try

well she knows Im completely incompetent... so she wont be waiting for me to try!

Or is she not on a team because of too much werk?  If so, she might not have time.  We could always try and give it a try with her instructions.

Not sure - she didnt ask to join but if she does maybe we should claim her?

I'm going to be right there with the two of you.  I can't remember if I put  20 or 30 miles, but I'm thinking it might be 20.  That would be about 5 hours at my speed, or lack of.

One of our other team mates mentioned also coming back from a knee injury on sign up so I put them with us too... we might not quite be 'Team severed Limbs' but a few of us definatley have that injury thing in common!

I used to hate to run, but I have learned to like it more and more over the past year.

Hi Beth... That's interesting... How do you learn to like running more and more?? If there is something like a 10-step program - I NEED it...!!! Probably step 1 "join a challenge", step 2 "join a challenge", step 3 "join a challenge"..... ???? :-) Kathrin

Joining the challenges were definitely a start, it sort of forced me to at least try running.  Probably the main thing was to change my attitude about it

Someone much wiser than me challenged me to quit telling myself that I couldn't do it and that I hated it and to just do it, funny thing happened, I started to learn to appreciate the good things about running

Some of the other things were that I had to quit comparing myself to others from a speed and or distance perspective and just focus on the progress I was making from a personal standpoint.

And the final ingrediant for me was to take it slow, just like I would never expect someone could swim a mile if they had never swam before, I should expect myself to run like the wind when this is a new disicpline

The walk/run approach has really worked for me - I've built to the point during the last 7 months or so that I can actually run 6 miles without walking, but I took it very slowly

I hope this helps

Thanks Beth. I will definitely keep this in mind going forward. Tonight I noticed (during running/jogging -> is there some sort of definition of what is what?), that it's much more fun to just watch the people in the gym then starring on the clock on the treadmill. The workout was over so much quicker! ;-)

What level of html is needed? I partly financed colleged doing webpages, but that was pretty basic stuff and it's years ago. But I give it a try if nobody else feels better equipped.... But as I said, not sure if I'm going to be able to do it.

Hey everyone, late addition to the team here. I'm Kristin, I got hooked on challenges in July with TdF and can't seem to stop joining now.

I had a nasty bike crash 7.5 weeks ago and am still recovering from a broken shoulder so I guess I'll fit in well with some of the other injured teammates here I'm still trying to have a decent NYC Marathon on Nov. 2 but I have to be careful to avoid injury due to my 5 weeks off post-crash. So I'm in for 100 miles and I'm hoping to exceed that. I may do some miles on the elliptical when the aches and pains act up.

I was on Team Post Padding last month so I have to warn that I like to post a lot and love a chatty team

Thanks to a sore leg I didn't get my entire planned run in today.  I think I will double up tomorrow if my leg starts feeling better.  At least I did get 4.4 miles in today.  By the way, my wife (Runnerg1rl7) is on another team for this challenge, so please let's win this thing so I don't have to hear the bragging.  Now go out and get some running in.

Sounds to me like you are the expert... at the top of the challenge forum there is a thread stickied with some (supposedly) user friendly instructions from Dee (D001) if you want to give it a try!
