Nice going on all the runs people are reporting. It seems like everyone is getting after it. Remember to log your miles for the week in the spreadsheet by tomorrow night.

I did a 4 mile race today. Finished in 29:18. That was good for 4th in AG and 22 overall. Kinda bummed about not placing. If I was in any other age group except 20-24 & 25-29 I would have placed. My wife and son also raced and both placed 3rd in AG. I'm glad for them, but bummed because I beat both of them by about 10 minutes or more. Sometimes it seems like the faster I get, the faster all the other old guys get. Oh well!

I ran a bit more after the race and ended up with a bit over 10 miles for the day. I'm doing a hash with the tri-club tomorrow. Should be fun.

Keep running Pumpkins!

20-30 age groups and you are old.... ?

Nice time on the 4 mile run however. It is a good thing we race primarily against ourselves, but ya it is nice to get in the top 3 now and again. In my last race the top 3 finishers overall were in my age group. (40-50). Hopefully in 2 more years I can start getting closer on that stuff, for now I am just happy to finish these races. Oh well, go for a sympathy backrub or something...

Although with the amount you run, maybe it will take me more than 2 years to be in the ager groups, may have to wait till I am in that like 70-80 age group.... only living person in age group to cross finish line wins... 8).

I'm 52. Thanks. My age group - M50-54 - had more people than any other age group in the race.

I did a hash with my tri club today. Ended up being a bit over 5 miles. In the middle of the run was a beer challenge. We had to down a beer and a person needed to catch a water balloon being fired from a giant slingshot. That took a while to accomplish. The run was mostly on singletrack horse trails. Conditions were sand, rocks, roots, hills, and lots of horse poop. There was also a few stream crossings. Made for a fun time! Party after.

I ran a few more miles after I got home.

I love being a female and getting older in this sport. It gets easier and easier for me to placeLaughing...not so for the guys I've noticed they just keep getting stronger.

Ok-my plan...

I run 2x a week with a running group and the sessions vary, sometimes a road route, sometimes hill repeats or sprints or...that's why I've listed my goal in minutes as I never know how much distance I will cover. the sessions go for an hour-that's what I've based my goals on. I'll also try to get one run off the bike during the week-this a recent thing for me- so not fun last week. I'm also going for an easier longish(you guys would scoff at my "long" at this stage) run durng the week.

My running is sort of taking a back seat at this stage as I am re entering triathlon after a considerable break and need to bring the other disciplines up to speed-it's actually suffering a bit at the moment but I imagine that will be temporary and I'm trying to not pay attention to my declining pace and just get thru this initial stage!

Anyway...today I am trying to ignore the blossoming sore throat I have and went for a really relaxed run/walk instead of my strenuous run group...I enjoyed the leisurely pace enormously.

Happy running all.

Hot almost 23 k in today. Was supposed to be 24, but I miss judged my distance and I just hate doubling back. Think I will go for 25-26 next weekend.

Looks like everyone has posted their miles except for a couple, good work everyone, keep going strong!

Hey Pumpkins-

Looks like you're off to a good start on this challenge!  Be glad you don't have ME on your team... yes, I organized the challenge and promptly got injured so am barely keeping up appearances on my team!  I'm hopeful I'll be back to real running this week to be able to stay on the team and challenge!

I PM'd your two team members who have not posted miles, though I see Chicagoman just needs a posting lesson; he's too busy running to log! Remember each member needs to be at 30% by next weekend to stay with the team.

Best of luck earning your pie!

-Cynthia

Sorry, but I am afraid I will have to drop out of the challenge for this month. The day before the challenge began I was hit by a car while on my bike. I was not "badly" injured, but developed a hematoma, followed by an infection in my right leg. I kept thinking that I would heal quickly, and be able to catch up. It might still be possible, but probably not the best decision. Maybe next month.

Sorry to hear about the accident.  Good decision to take it easy.  Hoping you heal quickly...

Doh, hit by car can never be a good thing. Hematoma doesn't sound good either. Take care of you! The road will always be there waiting for your return, no need to rush it. It is cold, rainy and or snowy out anyway just keep warm and heal up.

Uhrg...missed my long run this weekend...crazy busy...

We're halfway through the month, and I'm only at 23%.  Need to make it to at least 30% by the end of this week...don't want to get kicked off the team.

4.1 miles today...

Another 5+ today.  It has turned pretty cold, but clear.  I'm not sure I'll be so lucky Wednesday.  Calling for thunderstorms.  May be an inside run.

Weather was better today. Still a bit cold, but sunny and no wind. I managed a little over 11 miles. I had to walk for about a quarter mile while trying to evade a large loose dog. I wanted to make sure the dog did not run across a busy street trying to chase me.

20 mile bike, 5 mile run brick tonight. Longest run ever planned for tomorrow, we see how it goes.

Keep racking up those miles folks every mile now is worth 2 in the spring....

On a side note, after putting 3000 miles on my new bike (well new this time last year), I found out today that my ISM Adoma saddle needs to have its nose adjusted down some random amount as you are not supposed to ride it flat/level. I guess it would have been nice if the guys who "fit me" at the bike shop knew that when they put the saddle on and kept the paperwork on it.

So I am playing with the angle now and even the slightest angle change makes it feel way different. I will have to so how it works on my long ride on Saturday (no rain forcast for a change woot!).

2.4 miles in the snow last night.  It's starting to stick.  Beautiful night.

4.8 miles this morning.  Zone work (Z1 ramp up to Z3 and back to Z1).

At 23 miles for the month (33%), still a little behind (we're 40% into the month).

Core and weights this afternoon...

Thanks everyone for your support. The bike can be repaired, but is now being held hostage by the bike shop pending an insurance settlement. I would bail it out, but I cannot ride yet anyway.

And of course the weather is great here in Corpus Christi, sunny and around 80 degrees, just wanna be outside!
