I have a horrible hangover. Worse in a looong time. It even hurt to open my eyes earlier.  I am feeling very sorry for myself but my husband and I just chained up my van and drove to the store. It was CRAZY! People everywhere. They had NO bread!!!   It's snowing like crazy outside So no workouts for me. Just walking probably.

We survived the storm...they downgraded the wind warning so we just had gusts up to 45 or 50 mph--it was pretty wild and we got about 5 or 6 more inches of snow, but the power stayed on, so that's ok with me.  I ran 6.2 miles in it this morning, and my body feels like I ran 10 due to the effort of running in snow on top of sheer ice, but it was fun!

What's everyone else up to today?

I think you are both crazy, but I am a cold wussie!

Sorry, I have been out of touch. I took a few days after finals finished to just veg. It was awesome!

As for my intro post I promised, here goes!

Some background on me, I am a 37 year old full-time student (working towards my PA degree), part-time health care worker. I am single. I have a 14 year old cocker spaniel that owns me. I started training for triathlons to get in shape and lose some weight. My first year of training I lost 20 pounds, and have pretty much sat right at that mark ever since. I would like to lose at least another 40 and then re-evaulate at that point how much more needs to come off.

My first triathlon was in October of 2007 (I met Kristen at an OWS practice for that race and she was totally awesome on race day and did everything to help me but hold my hand pre-race... she was awesome!). I had planned to do several sprint races and an olympic distance in 2008, but instead I spent the first 8 months of the year going from one nasty illness to the next. It was awful! I still have some lingering side effects which can effect training on occasion like some difficulty swallowing and I still get dizzy but that one mostly happens now in the pool.

I plan to keep my goals for 2009 pretty simple. Top o' the list: Stay healthy and stress less! After that: have more fun! Followed closely by lose some more weight, do a couple of sprints, throw in an olympic distance, perhaps a few foot races and maybe even a bike tour or two. Did I mention have some fun?

That about sums it up. Anything else you want to know, just ask!

It's just way too deep. No paths to run on, plus Rudy is a puller! I worry about that. Eek.

So everyone...what's on deck for this week? Who's traveling? Are you bringing your running shoes?

Thankfully, I don't travel for holidays. Since Thanksgiving, we've had a steady stream of visitors (my in-laws, my dad & his wife), and we're expecting my mom for X-mas...if the weather doesn't stop them from driving. It looks to be a busy week, but busy fun - today or tomorrow I'm making cookies with my girls, we're visiting Santa at the mall for our annual picture, going to the library, etc. I should be fine for working out, because our Y has good childcare - and then starting Wednesday, hubby will be home during the day so I can train then if I need to.

I am on service this week- kind of a bummer but I think the real bummer is the poor kids who have to spend Christmas in the hospital- it puts my schedule in perspective.

I typically don't have great workouts when I'm on service, what with the long hours in the hospital, frequent pages (especially if I'm exercising!), and multiple calls overnight.  I'll be happy if I get a couple of 15 minute walks in! But I'll try to check in when I can.  My mother in law is coming for Xmas- since I'll be at the hospital all day, she will cook .  Otherwise, no real plans!

Being on service/call must be quite challenging for training. Sounds like you make the best of it - and of course, there's nothing bad about having someone else do the holiday cooking!

Not a whole lot exciting here. Working through Wednesday. The famdamnily will be here Thursday. I am off through the weekend, then back to work. I know, I am trying to contain my self with all the festivity, but it is difficult.

I managed to get to the gym!  Wish I had my traction covers as I would have ran on the trail down the road!   It would have been SO pretty along the river! I managed 2 short runs and a swim.  Now I have to head into work tomorrow which in all honesty seems pointless just for a couple of hours. It'll take me 2 to get there on the buses.  Arrrrghh!!!

Got to the gym last night for cycling class. Felt SO much better afterwards (the weather was terrible, the roads were terrible, the traffic was terrible). I even did some cross-training in Target, battling the Christmas crowd afterward Laughing

I'm waiting to see if my running buddy is going to be able to run today. If not, I'll do some snowshoeing at lunchtime. I'm working at home today, which is totally cool! Got a riding lesson tonight, too, which will be a little bit of cross-training.

How's everybody else doing?

Cross Training in Target sounds tough!  I will bet stores are insane today...especially here where most people have been stuck inside for days.  The roads are clearing off so I am going to the gym for either a swim or a spin class and swim.  Depends on what time I get my act together.

I have some great news to share with you guys, but can't tell you quite yet.  It's exciting though, and I will post it just as soon as I can!

Happy training today!  Lynne and I have tentative plans to do a long run on Friday.  If the weather cooperates....

PS-Remind me how to get that table into my blog.....

Wow - I'd almost consider shopping at Target this week full-contact-wrestling. Unless they're more civilized where you live.

Have fun snow-shoeing/running/riding...I hit the gym this morning, otherwise all I've done today is BAKE! Yum!

Oooh oooh ooooh! Exciting news, I can hardly wait!

Hit "Quote" for the post that has it in there...then disable HTML (at bottom of post-writing window)...it should turn the post into a big string of text, which you can then post into the goal section of your blog. If that doesn't work, let me know.

OK, working at home does have its hazards... I flopped on my bed at lunchtime to read a new book I just bought (which is TERRIBLE, by the way. But, I bought it, so have to read it, lol). Well, I lost track of time and was there two hours!! Then, I got up and it occurred to me that, if I was at the office, I'd be getting sent home right about then. So... I've been surfing the net ever since. Haven't done my snowshoeing. I'm so unmotivated. Work drains me that way. It's so boring, it drains all my energy if that makes any sense. I really need to clean the catbox and get out there and clean my stalls in my barn and then, if it's still light out, maybe I'll snowshoe. I do have a riding lesson tonight, so I will get some exercise...

Snowing here, too, of course....I only live about 10-20 miles from Lynne (we'll have to mapquest it!).  We are snowed in, missing our Christmas Eve plans, and possibly Christmas afternoon plans.  Oh well.  At least it's pretty--we have 5 inches so far today on top of the 12 inches we already had.  And did I mention, no snowplows?  Of course I am thinking of running pretty soon, as I am insane.

Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas, everyone!

Sorry to hear you're snowed in, Leslie...hope it's a fun Christmas anyway. My girls would love a white Christmas...it's 53 and cloudy here.

Take care everyone! Have a great holiday...and then we can get back to training!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

We made it to NY with no problems on Saturday and have been busy visiting family. It is our son's first trip so he is seeing many people for the first time, which it is exciting.

The weather and the fact that I am sick has pretty much halted my workouts. I hope to get better by the time we head back home on Saturday, so I can start burning off the tons of food we are being fed here.

Merry Christmas!!!
