99% sure I'm camping.
I'm all about saving the hundreds of $$$ from a hotel room. Plus I will be on-site so won't have to fight traffic in the morning (less stress!). Plus-Plus, I never sleep well the night before a race anyway... I'd rather pay a lot less for my sleepless night.

My only dillema is where to get COFFEE?!??

I've got ya covered!! We've got an awesome french press that makes kick-a$$ coffee that will have you zippin' around, ready to race! It's so hearty, you almost don't need breakfast

I'm probably going to camp as well.  I also don't sleep well the night before an event.  Plus, I don't want to deal with traffic that morning.

Yeah, it looks like we are close, but we are on  the main road as opposed to the sites right by the finish.

Which campground is it? Are the prices going to be the same as if we reserved through DNR? How many tents per site? Thanks

The prices are going to be minimal.
$25 for regular campsites. No electric.
    $45 for electric premium campsites.

All money will go into a fund to make sure we triathletes leave the park better then when we found it

Last year I am proud to say that we installed over $25K of electric services to the park. It's a pretty cool thing when we can leave permanent improvements to our hosting venues. All of the shelters out there now have electricity.

Perhaps I am missing something.  .but if someone wants a campsite, do they have to wait till Ryan sends out the email?  I mean as one fellow triathlete on here did, why not go ahead and reserve a spot today?  Why wait till the email?

The campsites are all reserved for the race.

Please everyone do not start calling the Park. We are guests of the park We are trying to mimimize the "pain in the a**" factor that these events put on Park staff.

The last thing they want is 1800 athletes calling the park trying to go around the system. They will refer you to us.

The athlete that reserved the two spots on here should not have been allowed to do so...no huge deal though.

    I can hold off

I do need to know how many tents are allowed on each site, so I know how many sites to reserve. We have somewhere between 10 and 15 people, and will have all the accompanying vehicles and tents, so would 3 sites be enough?

Two tents will be available on each site.

2 cars are allowed for each site.

I think you would be fine with 2 or 3 side-by-side sites.

Is there anyway to find out which site we have? I just registered for a site through active, but would like to arrive on thursday and stay at the same site for the entire weekend. I have to say, I'm a bit annoyed at this whole process.

You will be able to get multiple sites together.
We will send out an email to all campers asking if certain parties want to be together...from there campsites will be assigned.

    It is all pretty flexible.
Sunday night accomodations can be arranged once you get to the park thru the park...most likely they will not charge you since we have the park for the entire weekend but I would check in with them at the Ranger station upon arrival. They are great to work with so either way it shouldn't be an issue.

Can't do just one night reservation.

    Thanks.

Dude, really? I'm a bit ecstatic and grateful that the race organizers are being so HELPFUL! I've never seen a race with this much hand-holding for the participants (in a good way)... most races if you're lucky you'll get a special hotel rate or something and they leave you to figure out the rest.

This is very cool, Ryan. Thanks!

I am with Lisa on this one.

Try doing a regular Ironman and the host hotel fills up in about 2 days.  Then you have to search and search and search for a place to stay and try to figure out if it is close to the race venue and in a good part of town. . .etc. etc. .. .

Thanks Ryan for all of your help and postings.  We do appreciate it.
