Oooh - Important question!!

Is the Race for the Cure the same course as the tri the next day?
I was planning on taking them through the regular Fat Rabbit course. Now I'm hoping it is the same, since I already printed the maps.  But dh says maybe it's even shorter than the sprint?

I see now - the swim in a straight shot, one way, not a loop.
Bike is the same.
Run is similar, but the turnaround comes sooner.

(I'm actually doing the Olympic the next day, but got on this thread because no one is on the official thread for the Oly.)

Couple quick questions...

They will provide us with a swim cap and the timing chip, correct?

And how about pins to pin the number on my shirt?

Thanks...can you tell I'm getting a little nervous about all the details!  I hate being unprepared

You will get your swim cap and timing chip with strap at the race.  The safety pins and well as twisty ties for your bike number will be in your race packet when you pick it up.  If you plan on wearing an expensive top, my suggestion is to pay $10-15 for a race belt so you dont poke holes in your nice top.

I will be there as a volunteer and rooting all you on.  I dont know what I will be doing yet.

Good luck everyone!!!!!

Right on, Scott.  That reminds me I need a race belt.  Yikes!  Thanks for being a volunteer!

Thanks for the quick response.  I didn't think about holes in my top, but the one I'm wearing isn't really expensive.  Where could a get a number belt?  I'm near Polaris.  Also, does anyone know where I can get some anti-fog solution for my goggles?  I had a terrible time with mine during my swim at Alum earlier this week.

You all have been so helpful! Thanks!

Close to you is Roll Bike Shop, right next door to Urban Active, thats where I got my race belt.  Tri Tech off Huntley and 161 will have both your needs.

If you don't want to spend the money on the anti-fog solution, spitting in your goggles helps, too.  Gross, yeah, but effective.

OK, I'll be at Alum Creek Beach at 7 a.m. in a  black Dodge Dakota pickup.
I am meeting one or two friends. We are going to spend a little time talking about the transition area and such and doing a gear check.

But we are also going to be swimming the swim course (plus some) and biking the bike course (2 loops for me) and running the run course (plus some). No one has to do the added distance, and my one friend almost definitely won't. She's a first-timer, so you all can talk over tips and such if you don't want to do the extra loops.

Anyone is welcome!

That's so great she had an opportunity to do that.  Glad to hear she's pumped about it now.  It really IS a fun race and I'm so looking forward to it.

I started a new job these last few days and can't take off like I used to.  Have fun, though, oh, and I'd love the latest report on the water temp if you don't mind.    Thanks, Kate!

Got this e-mail from Fat Rabbit.  If you can, especially if this is your first, I would highly recommend going ahead and picking up your packet early.  One less thing to worry about doing come race day.

Thanks,
Lora

Dear Athletes,

For your convenience, we will have packet pick-up on Friday at Alum Creek State Park at the beach area from 1:00-7:00 pm

You can have a friend pick-up for you and no ID is required.

Thanks and have a great race!

I second getting your packet early.  The last thing *I* want to do is to wait on someone's late butt to show up and get their packet...and everyone *else* is ready to START the race!

Ok.  To be 100% honest I thought the water was warm today.  About 200m into the swim I was thinking "Damn the sun is HOT on my back"  I can't imagine ever swimming it in a wetsuit- I would be over headed in a second.  I thought the water was waaaaay warmer than the Miami pool.

I'm sure with the temps lately it's gotta be pretty warm.  I'm headed out there tomorrow evening.  I will definitely be getting my packet Friday, getting pumped!

I guess this could depend one how my race goes, but can anyone tell me how long to expect to be at Alum Creek Saturday...as in, when do awards usually start (not that expect any, ha ha) and such.  I'm just curious as to when we'll get out of there afterwards.
