DrPete - 2009-07-05 9:24 AM So where's everyone staying Friday? I haven't given much thought to it yet...

Probably driving down Saturday morning. My girl works until 6:00 so we wouldn't make by the end of packet pick-up anyway.
But, that's always subject to change.

Well, the hotels in Smyrna look to be booked up, so I think I'm going to play the military card and get a room at Dover AFB (about 20-25min away on the map) the night before. Seems like it'll be my cheapest/best way to avoid a trip across the bay bridge in the wee hours of the morning.

Good thought, do you think the bay bridge will be backed up that early? I had planned on leaving from bmore at like 4:30-5. U think that would be enough time?

I don't think it'll be backed up necessarily--but with the baby at home and a little baseline sleep deprivation thanks to work, I'd much rather do the bulk of the driving the night before...

I'm pretty sure I'm heading down that morning. Traffic shouldn't be bad.

Has anyone decided on wetsuit vs. no suit?

No wetsuit for me.  I figure it will save me about 10 seconds per 100 so on a 400m swim it will only save me about 40 seconds tops and will take over a minute to get off... if I'm channeling my inner chameleon.

I'm pretty stoked.  Last I checked there's only 116 people registered... high AG ranking potential!

P.S. There's only 3 BT-Marylanders registered!! Don't some other folks out there in the MD forum need plans for Saturday AM and have 90$ laying around?

If they don't have plans they can come watch us race and give us the $90

I think that I won't be doing a wetsuit.  Considering our swim is so short and means I can have a quicker T1. Debating on trying the "putting the shoes on while hoping on the bike" or just bending over and lacing them up.  I don't have tri shoes just typical roadies.

After South Carroll I wanted to try Yankx or something similar instead of laces but never got around to getting them. Anybody have any experience with them?

I noticed a lot of the other BTers doing the race were already affiliated with another club.

For those of you with "wetsuit or not" questions, if you're worried about water temp, don't.  I have been training in Lake Como since late May without wetsuit and it's not bad at all.  Also, the water is fairly clean in that you don't get out feeling dirty and covered in slime/moss/etc.  Just beware of all the small pebbles on the beach.

Thanks Eric. I might try to track some down today so I can try them out before Saturday. Might have to make a lunch trip to REI.

Not that T2 is my problem, but yes, I use them and love them.

Well, I'll be rockin' out at the Holiday Inn Express just outside Dover Friday night... Hope I can sleep with all the partying going on.

It's about 15min or so from the race site from what I can tell on the map...

We'll be at the Comfort Inn in Dover. Supposedly about 10 miles away from the race site.

a great showing of BT people today.  Great job on the results with Christy 2nd overall woman and CJ with a 2nd in AG.  Nice job guys.  Came up a little short on the BT team results but we will get them again next year.  Nice little race.

Way to go, Christy and CJ! I missed the podium by 2 spots in the clydes... But hey, a top 5 is a top 5, even when there are only 11 people in your division.

Great job Dr. Pete.
