Anybody been in the lake the last few days.  I heard the water flipped at the temps are in the upper 50's now.  I'm supposed to meet some friends today to swim, but don't know if I want to freeze.

It was colder than the dickens the past few days. I'm going today for 1:20 and tomorrow for 2 hours so I really hope it's warmed up. It's not so bad once you get moving but I had my lesson in there on Tuesday evening and did a lot of standing and listening between drills. Talk about shrinkage!

Monday, the water was much colder than it was last week and Tuesday it was just a bit warmer. On both of those days, the Park District website was listing the water in the upper 60's (67-68F, I think), but at OSB, I'd wager the temp was in the low's 60's, tops. I'm off to OSB in a little bit. Park District says the temp at North Ave is 68F and the NOAA is saying the Chicago shore temp is 70F. I'll be happy with either!

WOuld you mind giving us an update when you're done? I am supposed to swim tomorrow morning and I HATE HATE HATE the cold water!! THANKS!!

The water felt much better today - I'd say back to last week's temps, or close to it. I was in the water for close to an hour without a wetsuit and was comfortable.

Water was perfect today.  I was in a long sleeve wetsuit and I wasn't cold at all.  There was a pretty good current pulling me out from shore.  I was almost 5 minutes slower coming back in.

Just got home from first swim in the lake this year and are you kidding me. Chicago beach forecast said temp was 70. When I hit the water I knew that wasn't right. I had a full wetsuit on so it wasn't to bad but my face was numb the first 200 yrds. I wanted to go a mile but only made it 3/4 mile. I just couldn't get my breathing down. I guessed the temp to be around 65 and on my trip home Tom Sklilling was on the radio and said 63. I knew it was cold. Man I hope this warms up before the Chicago Tri. Even with a wetsuit it's no fun.

It was cold today... but not as freekin' cold as last week. The problem with today is there were alternating pockets of warm/cold which I find more shocking to my body then a steady temp. Plus there were all these little green algae balls today. Ew.
