Champion 6973 marietta | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) I'm going to ride the course and then some Saturday morning. anyone interested? 0630 at the Bridgeland Activity Center Parking Lot. I'm not doing the first timers clinic but if you are, that starts at 8 so you can ride then catch that. edit. it seems we can swim in the lake so i'll plan on jumping in after the ride as well. No problemo - what time do you want Justin and I at your place? OR you could add some miles by riding to my place and picking us up ETA: My place to the Bridgeland Activity Center and back is 25ish miles (said the girl who threw her bike computer away today). Pro 4824 Houston | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) Yes. Longenbaugh is much more bike friendly than West. I go the back way out of my subdivision (the way you came the first time) so I come through Copperfield (Sunny Ridge) and turn right on Longenbaugh. |

Triathlete Nation ~ Texas! | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) ROFLMAO x10! Holy fat kid eating ice cream, that's funny! You are my HERO fatty ~ too funny. BTW, not that it matters... but I am bailing on the Saturday ride of the Bridgeland's course with y'all. Time vs. family commitment vs. needing higher milage for IMFL = long run instead of bike, and pick up a ride Sunday. Y'all enjoy the ride, the clinic (if you are going), and the dip in the lake. I will catch y'all next time. Oh yeah, I can't afford to provide beer, margaritas, and ICE CREAM post race... someone else is gonna have to step up! |

Pro 4824 Houston | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) I don't think beer is going to be a problem - I will have some for sure. God forbid Keri doesn't bring the beer AGAIN! Y'all we be talking about it for years. Oh and Justin - it's called a cooler, that's how you keep beer cold, a cooler. I've only been to 2 races and both had Blue Bell icecream sandwiches provided so I think we're good there. |

Expert 790 | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) I met up with Fatty and Keri for the clinic out at Bridgeland on Saturday. Keri and I road Fry's road to the clinic and the course will either be very fast or slow. The course is totally exposed and depending on the direction of the wind, could make for a tough head wind, especially with the later waves. The swim course looks longer than it is since it's a point to point with only one right turn. The water temps are very comfortable with the extra rain, and the lake has cooled down some. The run course is partially shaded and seems like it will be very enjoyable to run on Sunday. Also the transitions between swim/bike and bike/run only only between 50 and 75 yards I would guess. Overall the clinic was very informative, and I found a great benefit in being able to swim and run the bike course prior, especially since this will be my first race. I hope this helps some of you who were unable to make the clinic. |

Extreme Veteran 599 Houston, TX | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) Thanks for the info on the course Justin. So is the swim a shallow or deep water start? |

Expert 790 | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) Not really sure, never tried to touch the bottom. They did say the left hand side of the swim was more shallow, but that would mean swimming a further distance. |

Pro 4824 Houston | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) Betsy - I was about waist deep when the race dude (Aaron) said the start would be a bit further out but that they still needed to map it so I think it very likely will depend on where you place yourself in the wave. I don't really want to be treading water before the start so I may end up placing myself a little further back. |

This will be my first tri so I hope to see some of you guys there! I have a question... I have some tri shorts but no top. Should I just wear a bike jersey, a Nike Dry Fit shirt, or can I go shirtless on the run? |

Should I just wear a bike jersey, a Nike Dry Fit shirt, or can I go shirtless on the run? i'm sure you can go shirtless on the run. read the packet to confirm, or email the RD. i go shirtless in the water and throw on a tri jersey for the bike/run. it's real similar to a bike jersey or dry fit. you'll be fine with either of those as long as they are not too tight. otherwise you'll have fun putting it on in t1 while wet. see ya there. to bad we can't all get body marked with a big "BT" so we can spot each other. |

Member 163 Houston | Subject: RE: Official Bridgeland Triathlon thread.....(maybe not official) So I was at the clinic last Saturday and I just looked at the course on the website. Look here on Page 8 http://www.onurleft.com/OnUrLeft_Sports/BRIDGELAND_TRIATHLON_files/ATHLETE%20INFO%20PACKET.pdf This image is obviously before it was all developed out but I could swear in the clinic we were getting out at the bottom little "triangle" that was closer to Fry Rd. Anyone who was at the clinic remember? |
