Yea this was a fun first race for me, even my prego wife said she had a lot of fun in the environment and being out there.  She plans on getting into runnign events after our son is born.

She described the event as "It was like a giant adult swim meet." She use to swim as a kid and she said it reminded her of it.

I told my wife "I'm hooked" she said "Good for you babe, looks like we'll need another savings account for this then too" I got hooked this past summer to wakeboarding and we bought a boat.

Congrats on the race! Not to hijack too much but where do you go boarding at? I try to make it out to Taylor lake when we actually have a free weekend to go boarding. Unfortunately, triathlons reduce those free weekends but it's hard to give up either of them

My family has a place at Lake McQueeney.  It's in New Braunfels, well real close to it. Where is Taylor Lake?

Taylor Lake runs North-South off of Clear Lake so it's brackish water but really the only place to board besides Clear Creek which gets a little too crowded for me. I store my boat right off of 146 so it's a 5-10min drive from boat storage to ramp.

On another note, while I was on the bike part, there was a guy in front of me and we were both making the turn.  This would have been the 2nd turn heading back into T2.  Anyways as we were making the turn, a tan colored Tahoe didnt pay attention to the traffic cop and kept going "AS WE WERE MAKING THE TURN!!!!!" The guy in front of me (he was on a tri bike) started yelling "NO! NO! NO!"

It could have been bad, The guy in front of me had he kept goign full speed I think would have run right into the Tahoe.  Luckily he reacted quick enough but damn that was close.

when i was getting there and walking my bike across fry rd my wife and i overheard one of the traffic cops saying her partner that a car just came through about 5min earlier doing at least 100mph.  this was before the flares got lit.  the cop said that they were lucky nobody was walking across then because the car didn't even tap the breaks and didn't respond to her flashlight waving at them.

I also had a great time at my first race. I really enjoyed talking to all you BTers there as well. Fatty special thanks to you for calling me a triathlete when I finished.

As my wife and I were walking to the swim start she says, "I'm so nervous and excited I think I'm going to be sick to my stomach." My only response was gee thanks how do you think I feel? Prior to the start I was a mess. I was very nervous but once I got into the water I felt fine.

Thanks to all you BTers for the encouragement and training tips.

This was my girlfriend's first tri and she really enjoyed it. It was fun for me to be back in the race environment too. I haven't done any racing this season yet. I've got a sprint on labor day, then Ironman Wisonsin the following weekend. I'm pumped!! Next season will be different though, lots of racing planned. I think I'll do bridgeland also next year.

Aren't we all?  I already looked up you, John, Merry and Betsy.  I love John's photogenic running pose.

Hi my name is fattyfatfat, and I would be soooo much faster if I weren't striking a pose in every race...  I am beginning to see a pattern here!

195. I know I need to get my breathing down for swimming, put more power into my thighs for cycling, and fix my running form, but first thing's first...must improve tan.
